Injured MLive : Howard out at least 2-4 weeks with "slight groin tear"
wings4thecup06 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Personally, I don't really see the harm in letting McCollum start sunday against Buffalo. Low risk game. Coming off a back to back. And the last thing we need is to push Mrazek to the edge so he gets injured. McCollum was a first round pick remember, and the last 2 years in GR his played has improved to the point where he's at least looking like a shadow of the reasons he was picked so highly in the first place. Wouldn't do any harm in taking a look at him. When's the next chance the Wings will get this opportunity? Training camp? -
This is what I was questioning the last game also. Nothing against Miller, but don't you think it'd create a much better scoring line to have Weiss-Sheahan-Pulkkinen Maybe Babs is just going for his all around lines again.
-
That's genius. Although to his credit, Quincey has been excellent this season. Babs is right. He and DK have been the best defensive pairing out there night in night out

GDT 1/10 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Capitals 3
wings4thecup06 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Tbh, I'd be perfectly happy if they just turned the reigns over to Mrazek full time while Jimmy is out. Obviously Gus will play some, but I'd be more comfortable having Petr in the starter role for the next little while. After a shaky start to the year, he's been extremely good. -
Going to the game tonight!! Woohoo!! LGW!!!

Personally, they have to do something about Kindl, but it's pretty obvious that they have been unable to move him thus far - every time Ouellet is recalled Kindly is benched, so if they could have moved him by now they would have, and XO would be playing every night. He's more than capable and has proven himself more than ready. So if we can't rrade Kindl, then do we just have to waive him and send him to GR (assuming he clears - his salary is probably high enough to prohibit anyone from actually wanting to claim him)? It's a really tough spot for KH, because everyone knows that XO is the better player. But if he keeps playing the way he did against Buffalo the other night, how on earth is he ever going to be traded? Except in a deal with a team whereby we ship him and a draft pick in exchange for the other team taking him on and his salary?

Bought a Datsyuk winter classic jersey from Sportsk last winter and was very impressed (got it shipped to the UK as well), patches and everything. Would definitely recommend going to them for jerseys
-
He'll most likely be back by Christmas or just after is my bet. Datsyuk's was a minor sprain and he was gone for 4 weeks. But it's all dependent on how much damage there is and the extent of the injury. It's all just speculation at this point.
-
It sounds like an anterior shoulder dislocation by the way it was described (i haven't seen it) and the fact that he basically landed on his outstretched arm. If he's torn one of the labrums then we're talking a couple months, and that's before talking about any possible rotator cuff muscle tears or strains. The shoulder joint is one of the weakest joints in the body as it is, which is why it's so flexible. The downside of that is the fact that it can get easily damaged. I'd say Petr will be here for a while, but the MRI will reveal the extent of the injury

It is, quite simply, a joke. One of the things I cannot stand about football over in the UK is the fact that not only every year do the uniforms change, but they also have a giant logo of some crappy company plastered right in the midsection of the shirt. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, this is one of the reasons I have gravitated more towards hockey. It also means, that as a fan, when you invest in a jersey, you're getting something that will be around for quite some time. And in the case of the wings, that could be several decades. Practice jerseys they can go nuts with as far as ads go. But game jerseys? Yuk. If they want jersey sales to remain high, then they should scrap this idea before it even gets started. That being said, how would everyone feel if they only put ads on the all star game jerseys? I mean, the game is a gimmick in itself anyway, I think I could just about live with that if that's as far as it went. I have the funny feeling though that once they get the foot in the door, it'll just snowball

Sorry but that's absolute bull. You can't compare Miller to Jurco because both have completely different roles on this team. miller is clearly a 4th line guy who is relied on on the PK, whereas Jurco is a scoring forward who is counted on to use his body and speed to create offensive chances If we actually send Miller down, what does that achieve? Who's going to play on the 4th line? Cleary? Sorry, but that 4th line thus far has been tremendous through 5 games, and if Glendening had the hands of Ovechkin he'd be leading the league in scoring with the number of chances he's had. You can't fix one problem by creating another. As for Franzen, I know a lot of you hate him, but screw it. He's been on fire thus far. He's 34. We know exactly what he is. And oh yea. Hockey's a contact sport. I'm sure they're far more injuries that ever get reported to the press. Doesn't make it more or less frustrating when they happen, but they just do. Luckily he's not out long term and it's only 7 day IR. So can please, just for once, when we get an injury this season, can all the haters hold off with the 'i told you so's', and actually enjoy this team for what it's worth, which right now is looking quite promising.

I love how this thread has been reactivated from the depths after 5 games, the Wings are 3-1-1 without their best player, have gone toe to toe with 2 of the best teams in the league, look incredibly energetic and speedy, and have a tremendous PK. Whats not to like? Screw the 'experts'. They're not the ones out there on the ice. And so far, I like what i've seen (outside of the first two periods of Wednesdays game, but even then we got a point out of it)
-
I think after last years debacle, the Wings are being cautious here, and rightfully so, especially with Franzen off to such a good start. Also, it delays the inevitable roster crunch decision for a little while longer - gives Nestrasil a few more games to hopefully impress. IMO they need to waive Cleary and send him down to GR rather than the easy way out (which would be to send Jurco back to GR)

gdt 10/11/14 GDT: Game 2 | Ducks 3 @ Red Wings 2
wings4thecup06 replied to FlashyG's topic in General
So solid in fact that I have barely notices him in the first two games. Which always is a good thing. I've been really impressed with lots of guys and just the overall team in general. Franzen has been the best for me thus far. Being physical, coming back defensively, making an effort every shift and actually setting up quite a few goals. Him with Z and Gus looked really good for the short time they've been put together. Once Datsyuk comes back I'd love to see the 3 of them stay together but we'll see what happens. -

Yes that loss stings a little but really is there a reason to complain here if you're a wings fan? I honestly thought they played brilliantly and deserved to win the game. They're showing so much energy, speed and desire, and they responded physically to the challenge of the Ducks. Multiple times we saw guys (abby, Helm, Smith, Franzen etc) throw the body around and its great to see. Hell, when Kesler tried to take Smith's head off, Glendening was right there shoving Kesler down telling him to go **** himself. The only thing hurting the Wings right now is a few costly defensive mistakes, but with time, if they keep playing this way, those will fade. We'll be getting Pavel back probably by next weekend at the earliest and that's also a great sign as it gives us more offensive firepower and depth. The kids have all played great thus far, and our D is looking much better than last year. I'm really liking the DeKeyser/Smith pairing and have thought they've both been solid. Like i said, theres been a couple costly turnovers the first two games, and as such pretty much all our opponents goals have come off of Red Wings mistakes. That can only be good because if we cut down/eliminate most of these, while continuing to play with speed and energy then we're in really good shape to be honest. -
I have a mac so I'm using Safari, having no issues thus far (*touches wood)
-
Im in europe also (UK) and having no problems. Currently streaming WSH-MTL until the wings starts

WOOOHOOOOO!!!! This has seriously felt like the longest summer without hockey that I can remember. Soo excited for the Wings to be back, can't wait!! LGW!!!
-
He has to go. Although if he plays poorly at the start of the year it'll reduce his trade value (if that's possible) and make it harder for him to be moved. One can only hope that if he holds the fort, management will still want to trade him.
-
This is what I was thinking earlier. They'll probably have to eat half of it just to make it attractive enough. But really, that can only be a good thing. if they can move him, they should.

Datsyuk to play Thursday? Weiss to be a healthy scratch?
wings4thecup06 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
While I see your point, it's also not what you'd want sitting most nights of the year as the number 7 guy because XO is working his tail off on the 3rd pairing. -
23 man roster set... say hi to your 2014/15 Wings
wings4thecup06 replied to LAWings's topic in General
Hmm, I don't see it quite that way. I think they probably did want him on the roster, but seriously, do we really think there are any real suitors for Kindl and his contract that really, is a massive road block for most teams. Sure you could send Lash down to GR, but really he's actually a serviceable number 7. Kindl is the one to move, waiving him and sending him to GR just eats up the ice time down there of Sproul/Marchenko/Jensen/Backman etc. As annoyed as I am the XO isn't on the roster, I guess I can see why kindl is immoveable right now. Which frankly, sucks. -

Well I'd like to think that with XO paired with Quincey in practice today, they're gonna move Lashoff or Kindl. One can only hope right? Sounds like Nestrasil has made the team according to this: http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/red-wings-mid-day-practice-news-injuries-afoot-krupa-reports-nestrasils-mad Chuck Pleiness @wingsfrontman · 4m4 minutes ago Nestrasil avoids another round of cuts as Wings don't place anyone on waivers. Looks like he's made team for now. -
from where? I hope so, but haven't heard

wings4thecup06 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
True. But this means they're definitely going to have to trade someone or put someone on IR in the next 5 hours if they want Ouellet to stay. So its either, trade Kindl or Lashoff Or, put one of the guys in grey (minus Datsyuk, who's already going to be on short term IR) - which means either Cleary or Weiss. Something definitely has to give here. Big time.
