I think Cross, Calder, and Legwand were worse.

No dude, there's no sugar coating this one. We got crushed. We got decimated. We got embarrassed. 5 goals in 5 games is straight up shut down. The Bruins down right outplayed us in every single game and if it wasn't for a tremendous amount of posts and whiffed shots on open nets (ahem, Marchand), the score would have been a massacre. Out of all the playoff series, including Tampa bay, I honestly would say ours was the most one sided. There was never a doubt in anyone's mind Boston would lose this. If you can't see this for what it is, than your rose colored glasses are as bright as Holland's.
-
How the heck has Benoit not been signed yet? Offensive defenseman, plus player, would be happy signing him for a two year deal. Brookbank wouldn't be bad either. More stay at home style, but light years more dependable than Kindl or Lashoff.
-
In GR right? You can't possibly mean the Wings.
-
Can Z and Pav do anything to protest? (not that they would)

Try watching Hank's post game after being eliminated by the Bruins and tell me that's not a player on the verge of wanting out. -
signed Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

Nope. Ericsson was 24 at the time I believe and hadn't peaked. There was still a lot of room for development and improvement. Quincey is almost 29. What you see, is what you're gonna get until he starts winding down in his mid 30's. What's even more scary is that he played as s***ty as he did in a CONTRACT YEAR. -
Remember guys, Holland doesn't trade. He "reacquires".
-
Vrbata scooped up by the Nucks.

Sorry to dash everyone's hopes, but chances are, the roster now will be the roster on opening day. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20140702/SPORTS0103/307020111/Red-Wings-GM-Ken-Holland-s-wish-list-Health-growth "So, unless general manager Ken Holland decides to part with some young talent in a trade — which he says he won’t — the programs from the end of last season might just suffice for next season."
-
And then finished his last 11 games with no goals. Again, not trying to knock him, but you just never know....
-
Again you seem to have this weird notion that our team is full of potential superstars in the making. There is absolutely no indication guys like Jurco, Glendenning, Miller, Abdelkader, Sheahan are going to on some crazy scoring tear next year. I mean, I would be happy if they do, but there is absolutely no guarantee or even indication that is going to happen. It's all jsut wishful thinking that they are all either gonna be AS good or BETTER. Most of these guys wouldn't even make the 4th line on most teams. Great, we have Tatar and Nyquist who we can rely to net us 20-25 goals. Let's totally ride on that into the playoffs. All that is GUARANTEED is we are a year older, with a core of superstars dealing with significant injuries. Everything else is up in the air. Remember, despite making the playoffs, this is a team that finished with a losing record.
-
And YOU have to assume Hank and Dats miraculously stay healthy, Nyquist goes on another 25 game scoring streak, our prospects improve, and other teams don't get better (even though they have).
-
Epic post dude. Couldn't agree more.
-
And I agree with you. I'm just hoping for the loses so that we can get that rebuild, thats all. A bordelrine season won't do it. Jesus Christ, do I have to screen shot part of the page for you? adjective, fun·ner, fun·nest. 4. Informal. of or pertaining to fun, especially to social fun: a fun thing to do; really a fun person; thefunnest game. And what makes you think they will be in 2013 form? Dats and Hank haven't had a healthy season in 3 years, so it's better to assume they won't be, especially being a year older and Dats' knee being blown out, rather than assuming they will be in tip-top shape. Nyquist and Mantha I agree with you on.

Give me a break. The only reason we even squeezed into the playoffs is because we were in a weak eastern conference. If we had been in the west, we would have been right down there with the Oilers (who are a much funner team to watch).
-
How about you go buy Quincey and Cleary jerseys? Prove you're a true fan.
-
And if we make the playoffs yet get touched in the 1st round (or even finish 9th or 10th), all you'll see is the same status-quo approach from Holland and head into the following season with the same roster, just a year older. Rinse and repeat.
-
I couldn't disagree with that statement more and as long as a significant amount of fans think that way, nothing will change. Let's all look forward to another playoffs where we are embarrassed in the 1st round just so we can say, "24 years baby!"
-
Oh I'm not doubting that. I'm just saying I (and hopefully others) will go through next season wanting as many losses as possible to get a high pick and influence management changes.
-
The blind head in the sand defense in here is astounding. Fine guys, so you're all pretty much saying if we make the playoffs and lose the same way as this season, you will be happy. The same team that got booed off the ice at home this past playoffs. Nice to see how easily satisfied you are.
-
Forward depth for our farm team and that's it. And yes, all 3 at times were playing somewhere in the top 6 throughout last season, especially Abdelkader who is cemented as a 1st line winger on our team (for some reason). Looking at our squad, I don't know how you can look at it and actually look forward to next season. I literally don't see how this is possible, especially after last season with the same squad. And before you go blaming injures, we had a NEGATIVE record heading into December before all the major injuries really started happening. Just because they need to tank, doesn't mean we can't enjoy some fun moments in the season. Look at the Islanders and Oilers. Despite them tanking, it's still fun as well to watch Tavares and Hopkins tear it up.
-
You're right. Abdelkader, Glendenning, and Miller in rotating top 6 roles has cup written all over it (despite the fact all 3 would barely make the 4th line on most teams). We have some shining stars and glimmers of bright spots don't get me wrong, but the majority of our roster is an AHL team, plain and simple. Instead of finishing in the middle and possible BARELY squeezing in the playoffs just to get embarrassed, which accomplishes absolutely nothing, why not hope for a bottom finish and look forward to a high pick and org changes? Now there's something to get excited about.
-
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm fine with giving our spots to kids. In fact, I would be content with scrapping all the vets (minus Hank,Dats and Kronners) and playing all kids/prospects. However to me, this is one in the same as tanking it ala the Buffalo Sabres route. Glad we're on the same page!

Orpik is light years better than Quincey. He's thrown away like garbage from every team he plays for. Except the Wings if course. We're more inclined to give him a raise.
