greeeeaaaaaat. At this point, we'll be lucky if he even starts the season. This back problem will just not go away. Hopefully he'll be okay by at least Jan.
-
Cleary by far. He looked really bad on the ice and I was fearing the worst.
-
I think the Wings should give him a shot.
-
oh man.....if the Ducks match the offer and sign Penner there is NO REASON we can't sign Selanne. Oh man, please make this happen.
-
yea, I was gonna say the same thing. I've seen that jersey before (in black also). But its a practice jersey.

Sopel is the only legitimate free agent left, so its good for Holland to have interest. As for Lindros.....anything more than 500k is not worth it. Injuries chase this guy around like a dog chases a cat.

looks like a mid season signing is our only option at this point.

For those of you who don't know, Sport Express (a Russian online newspaper) published an article interviewing Yashin. Yashin was quoted saying "people think my move to Detroit is settled. They are just one of the many clubs interested in me". I e-mailed Ansar Khan "M-live Wings editor" for his thoughts on this. His response: "Thanks. I'll check on it. I doubt it's true, since someone in the Wings front office last week called Yashin a loser and said they would have no interest in him, but you never know." Doesn't look like Yashin will be wearing the Winged wheel afterall.

i guess he charges 1 million per goal

This guy is a huge upgrade over Lang. He has one of the most killer wrist shots in the league and would be welcomed (for 3 mil per less) on the 2nd line. I mean, he was on the Isles....hard to shine on that team. However, I'm still waaaaaay confused over this whole "people think me coming to Detroit is settled" thing. That had to be a mis-quote.
-
can someone help me out here? He says in the article that some people think "his move to Detroit is a settled thing". How can anyone think that? There is absolutely no rumor buzz of Yashin coming to detroit and there never has been, yet he claims that people think "its settled". Am i missing something?

tomorrow at noon est.

we're done on defense. At this point, its a top six forward or nothing.
-
Theres a few players I'd like to see here for the right price. Yashin, O'neil, and Allison would top the list.
-
Yeah, pretty much what everyone else said. In no way did that article suggest that the Wings are ready to offer 4 million for Yashin. But I would like to see him here, but for no more then 3 mil per year. I mean, this guy does have a seriously killer wrist shot.

*edit* sorry, didn't see airborn's post.

Associated Press: Holland suggests that the Red Wings simply can't replace Todd Bertuzzi's impact with the players left in the free agent marketplace (Bill Guerin signed a 2-year deal with the Islanders today), so KH claims he's looking for a "depth" guy: "We would like to add a top-six forward, but we're probably not going to be able to because of what's on the market, our cap space now and our plans for the future," Holland said. "Henrik Zetterberg can be a free agent in two years, so we're not looking to add anybody significant for more than a two-year deal because we want to keep Zetterberg."

at this point, I'd be fine with Yashin. Just SOME kind of veteran status on the second line. We can't rely on prospects and kids who have the potential or MAY BE good. We need to KNOW.

Pretty much all the NHL teams have FA buzz all round. Even if they dont make a certain deal, theres still buzz surrounding them. The Wings however have pretty much ZERO buzz (except for the Raycroft thing). Holland has also been dead quiet since Monday. With about 9 million dollars left of cap space to fill, you would think there would be a lot of talk or buzz or something involving potential moves or signings but there has been nothing lately. We desperately need Hasek, a top six forward, and maybe another D man. I'm hoping Holland is just working on some crazy "master plan" because this silence from the organization is not good at our current state. Thoughts?

Yes, losing Lang was good but he was NOT a bad player. His problem was, he was a star player that wasn't playing even close to star level. If you looked at his numbers though: Goals: 19 Assists:33 Points: 52 , who do you honestly think will replace that on our current roster? I mean come on, we NEED a replacement for that.
-
We need a replacement for Lang. Simple as that

I meant since then
