Well, that was back in 02 when they won the cup, so its understandable. I mean, most players like to retire and end their career on a good note, rather than a depressed, sour note. Then again, I can always resort to Plan B: go on a hunger strike until he decides to play.

In attempt to bring this thread back on topic, I'll give my two cents. First, I think Kozlov would be more than welcomed back. He has shown he is still a go 2 guy, and reliable forward. We really missed that this year minus Shanny, and Lang did not help fill that void. The thing is it all depends on whether or not we sign Hasek. If he comes back, he'll def. get a raise but stll his contract would be no more than 1 yr/1 mil plus bonuses. With this, we can re-sign Markov, Chelios, Schneider (pending he doesn't demand a big raise), Bert, and pick up a reliable forward such as Gomez, Hartnell, or maybe even Kozlov. Hasek is the key.....if we dont pick him up, we'll have to spend most of our remaining salary room to sign a solid goaltender that probably wont be less than 2 mil (unless we can get Backstrom......doubt it though). Which is why I'm tempted to camp out in front of Hasek's house with a sign saying "Don't leave us!"

I think if Ducks were minus Pronger, I'd root for them. But that ass makes all the difference.

If Dom doesn't come back, we'll need to pick up a solid but cheap goalie. There is no way in hell we could get Giguere if we wanna also pick up a good forward to replace Lang. I'm alllll for Backstrom, he'd probably sign onto a cup contending team for a mil. Toskala, though is an awesome goalie, will probably be looking for a contract in the 2-3 mil range......no way we can afford him.

Giggy is a reliable goaltender but pails in comparison to Kipper (who I think is the best goalie in the NHL)

I dunno about O'Neill. Although I think we could pick him up at a fair price, he isnt a consistent player. This season, he started off pretty strong but then finished the last month of the season without a single point. Just not sure..... eh, not so sure about that. I wouldnt be suprised if we see the Homer, Pavs, and Hank line for a good portion of the season. I think Franzen belongs on the 3rd line and would like to see our new pickup as the 2nd line center. I could definitely see Kozlov here......

lol, Lindros? he would play a total of like 6 games if we got him. I think we should really push for Gomez. I heard he is kind of an *******, but he's a center ( we need one after Lang leaves) and would fit well in the second line. Also, he only had 13 goals this season so I think we could negotiate a good contract.

Chelios for 1 mil?!? Hudler for 1.5??!? you're on crack. Chelios will re-sign for 500,000 - 600,000 and Hudler 1 mil TOPS. If we can get Hasek back and sign Bert for a good deal, we'll still have rougly 5-6 mil for a good forward. I think we'll be in a really good position next year and see some welcomed new faces.
