We do NOT already have a good team, otherwise we wouldn't have had our asses handed to us in the first round. Datsyuk and Zetterberg have nothing to do with the absence Lidstrom will leave on the blueline and Kronwall, while a solid player, is no where near Lidstrom level and, in my opinion, never will be. We are NOT that deep, as most farm boys who we've been giving shots to have really been disappointing thus far. Kindl, Emmerton, Mursak to name a few. You think these guys are the future? Sure, there's potential in Nyquist and Smith but it's way too early to tell and I see 3rd line at best. I mean, Babcock himself commented on his brilliantly after we got eliminated, basically saying we were putting 3rd and 4th line guys on our 1st and 2nd. I mean, Abdelkader a 2nd line center? Give me a break. We may seem like we have a lot of money, but considering the scarcity of the FA market this summer, expect the star players to command big big bucks. And we know how Holland feels about "spending". Well, other than bloated 10 year+ contracts that is. You know what we could have asked for? Our GM to give our star player and captain a better team to support him his final season. Otherwise, maybe he wouldn't "lack the motivation and drive to continue" (his words not mine). Seriously though, how does the sand taste?

I have mixed emotions of both sadness and anger. Sad to see who in my mind is the greatest defenseman in NHL history, someone who I grew up watching, retire. Angry to see him go out the way he did. Holland brought him back, just to stand pat and not improve the team around whatsoever around him. In exchange, we get just about shut out in the first round. He deserved a better way to go out...... He deserved a better fate.

Horribly disappointed in Bert's play, especially after his performance in 2011. Not a single freakin point. As much as I like the dude, would have rather had him either hang it up, or signed on maybe 800,000 - 1 year and play on the 4th line.

Thats the kind of sniping lacking from our team.

Babcock is really putting on a lot on the line by putting tremendous pressure on Holland and really calling him out. He did it as soon as the 5th game ended and continues to, which is awesome. Wouldn't be surprised if Holland fires him though, as I'm not sure he appreciates anyone going against his whole "father knows best" mentality.

For people comparing complaining Wings fans and complaining Canucks fans, you guys need to keep one thing in mind. Just about every sensible fan of this team KNEW that we had holes, as well as opportunities and the money to address them. Holland chose not, instead simply relied on past success with the core players. In that, we all have a right to be angry, as Holland sitting on his hands, once again, has turned out to cost us big time. Canucks on the other hand made it to game 7 of the stanley cup finals WITH THE SAME EXACT TEAM AS LEAST YEAR. They had every reason to believe they could do it again. However, surprises hit, and that would be the Kings. It's in no fault of the GM of the team, as he did what he was supposed to, and that was keeping a stanley cup team together. So those fans really have no right to actually "complain" as much as be frustrated with the outcome. My two cents. Screw Holland.

Man.....what I would give to have Bowman back behind the benches....

And I hope Holland still feels good about that Franzen lock up that has destroyed our cap space.
