I know I'm in the minority here but I really feel that number is way too high and will prove to be VERY costly when we try to make additions to the team in the off-season. It's alright, I'll just be able to once again say "I told you so" when the board starts flipping out over the lower than expected stats Lids will have next season. Come on Lids.....you've essentially been making 7+ mil every season for the last 10 years. You couldn't take one for the team just this once?

Lidstrom < 40 years old, yes Lidstrom > 40 years old, no. You have to face the fact that he's not in his prime anymore, stats will undoubtedly drop and he has no right to command a gigantic salary at this point.

I was hoping for it to be somewhere between 4 and 5.....but eh, not too bad.

Glad to hear he's coming back, but i'm more interested to hear the salary number. That number alone will make or break our season.

Agree with everything that's been said. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and he truly is one if the nicest, modest, and overall humble person I've ever met. Very down to Earth and truly a great guy. Speaking on the other end of the spectrum, do you know who's totally NOT a Nick Lidstrom?....Mike Modano. While the dude is truly an amazing athlete, his social skills leave a lot to be desired (ie he's a giant ******). Ever since I saw him literally tell a little girl who was simply seeking an autograph after a game "I'm not signing anything, get away from me", he's earned the right to be called the NHL's biggest *******. Don't take my word for it, there's countless other stories about his attitude out there as well. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Does Holland purposely try to make fans as unexcited as possible? It seems like every year now, before any big roster move day, he makes sure to tell everyone, "Don't get enthusiastic, don't get excited, sit back down, we ain't doin s***". I mean, granted he still might do something, but its really hard for fans to stay on the edge of their seat (which is good for team, generating press and interest) when we're repeatedly told nothing is gonna happen. It's just a downer.

You guys act as if other teams would jump at the chance to sign him. Come on now. The best he can hope for is being signed to an AHL team and being used for depth purposes only.

Those stats are misleading considering the fact in one of those games we beat them by 6.

If Eaves and Bert both come back for close to the same amount, I'd like to see them back. One thing I can always count on Eaves for is NOT missing the net. Miller has been good for us, but we just don't have the room honestly.

And do what? Replace him with a guy who bailed on his team, will come back, get paid twice as much as Bert, and yet only put up a few more points than Bertuzzi did? Wow, I can't wait. If we can re-sign him for the same amount, I welcome Bert back. Cleary and Draper are the main forwards locked that I want GONE.

Probably the worst reffed series I've ever seen.....and thats saying a LOT. However, if we were truly the better team, I think we would have been able to overcome it and still beat them. Many questions this offseason, especially with the (overhyped, overrated) return of short-round.
