Who is the NHL's best General Manager? On NHL.com
ShanahanMan replied to ufcredwingfan's topic in General
You have to be kidding me......how the HELL is Ray Shero 2nd place? I didn't know blowing for more then 10 years and then picking obvious great players with your high round picks constitutes as being a great GM. Ugh..... -
haha....awesome. Little change never hurt.

Official Poll: Filppula at 3 Mil. or Hossa at 5.4 + return for Filppul

If he can't keep up with opposing top line players, then you have no business advocating he should be on a top line himself. Let him stay comfortable and deal with the other mediocre 3rd line players he's used to dealing with. Oh and I did some digging and did find that there were indeed times he played on the top line (Filppula-Datsyuk-Holmstrom), especially at the beginning of the season. So its not like he hasn't been moved around a bit. I mean, Homer has played only 13 more games yet has stilled riled up more points. He's also a -7. Don't get me wrong....he's not BAD, he's just no where close to as good as you see him and simply incomparable to Hossa. Overall, just not that impressive for guy who you see to be this top line phenom. -

And yet even though Hossa has only played TWO more games then Filppula, he has MORE assists and triple the amount of goals Filppula does. -

I remember him getting some top line minutes here and there but regardless, he's done very little to impact his team. It's prob. a good thing that he doesn't get many top line minutes. Do you remember when he WAS getting top linetime, like in the 09 finals, where his line got utterly DOMINATED by the Malkin line? I think he finished with like 1 or 2 assists? The guy can only match up against other mediocre players. Also has no points in his last three just to boot. -

Dude, Brett Lebda could probably tally 16 points in 21 games when your linemates are Z/D/H/F. The truth is the guy can't finish for the life of him and seems to miss even the EASIEST of tap in goals. The bright "future" everyone seemed to talk about just never seemed to come for this kid. -
To a team missing TWO of its top defensemen no less.

You can't argue with the stats that back this all up. Just because you have a strange man-crush on Filppula, doesn't mean we do too. He's an adequate 3rd line center that can't finish. Get over it. -

Are you actually comparing Hossa to Hudler? It doesn't matter whether Hudler was still here or not. If Hudler signed here then the salary we would have shed from trading away Filppula would have given us ample room to sign Hossa. Try again! -
How does Holland do it? The man's a GOD.
-
As we said, at least a high draft pick. Holland said numerous times that whenever teams would inquire about trading, Filppula's name would come up quite often. The guy WAS a very wanted man. We could have gotten PLENTY. Unfortunately, Wings management, like yourself, WAY overvalued Filppula's place on this team. It has cost them. You admit this and yet still value Filppula over him?
-
-
Exactly. Hossa only wanted about a mil more then we offered and we let me walk. Instead we could have traded Filp while his value was high for a VERY high draft pick, allowing us to shed some salary and sign Hossa. It would have been a win/win. Instead, its a loss/loss.

I'm not quite sure its just unmotivation thats the problem. They played exactly the same at the beginning of the season.....theres no reason the be unmotivated then is there? Honestly, I'm not quite sure the skill level we all expect is there with the team. I think that has a lot to do with it.
-
Yeah, you keep on doing that while we continue to lose.
-
I'm sure Holland is begging Andersson to find one at this very moment to cover his ass.
-
Haha. Maybe.....but keep in mind there was a stretch of games where he's the only reason we won. Our record would have been at least six games worse if it wasn't single handedly for him. Also, the guy IS 4th on the team in points and he's still on pace to finish with at least 20 goals. Not bad for 1.5 mil.
-
Ummmm, yea and who put us there? Theres no reason teams like Chicago and Pittsburgh can make moves while we can't. There are ALWAYS options. But no, since Holland considers injured players deadline deals, no moves need be done.
-
Where were you guys earlier when I was practically the only one seemingly upset at our management's decision not to do a damn thing today? A shake up was EXACTLY what the team needed. Perhaps you see why now?
-
You DARE question Holland? Bite your tongue sir, the man makes no errors!
-
In other news, Ericsson is a +1 and Lids is a -3
-
One thing I agree with you on.
-
Playoffs baby. Holland ftw
-
Another idiotic move by Holland. I was really hoping we would hang on to him a bit longer, it was way too early to give up. We keep Lebda and waive Leino. I just don't get it. Leino will be the next Quincey. Count it.
-
Yes yes, cause we all know Scott Walker was the only player on the market. Whats your next excuse?
