For the past three years Detroit had three great season runs but failed to deliver in the playoffs. Now I know in the the last 9 years we have won three Stanley Cups and thats great, and I dont expect the Wings to do good every playoff run. But for the past few years ( minus 2002 stanley cup) we have lost in the first round against L.A, then again in the first round getting swepped against the Ducks, after that we lost in round two against the flames, and last another first rounder against ANOTHER underdog team the oilers. So whats our problem? As I have watched the past few playoffs it seems Detroit isnt hungry enough for the cup. We dont skate hard, we dont block shots we are just lazy. Detroit has also lost alot of physical play and with the loss of Mcarty and Fisher it only got worse ( I mean who is protecting Datsyuk and Zetterberg) Also our speed, we couldnt figure out the trap against the Oilers because we were too slow any they were way more faster. They beat us to the puck evrytime they dumped it in. And our goaltending, now I will always love Cujo and I was extremley dissapointed to see him go. He was great against the flames in 2004 its just the players who didnt deliver. But against Anihiem, they figured out his weakness right away, always shooting over the right shoulder. Then their was Legace who let in alot of softies playing Edmonton. I also loved Legace because he always tried his best. Sadly though it wasnt good enough. So the wings never had a gallstar playoff goa;ie for awhile. Now Detroit never had the intesity they used to have so does that mean we need a brand new team? In my opoinen i say no, Do we need changes? Absoultley, when we won the cup in 2002, we got four new players which all in all HELPED! So I just want to hear what you guys think our problem ( what you have observed) is and what could be changed for the playoffs next year, and anything else.
