I'm glad you enjoyed the game. Regarding the crowd/noise factor...actually that was a pretty dead crowd. Maybe the fans were as tired as the players who were all playing their fourth game in five nights. Welcome to the minors, Mac! Tickets start at $10. It's an old barn but a good one to watch a game in. Lots of great standing room. Bloomington is in Illinois...a long, boring drive away. My brother lives there, so I've been there and have lived to tell you the drive is enough to put you into a coma. Prairie....bleh. So Mac now has two goals and two assists and one fight in four games. Not bad for all the time he has been off. Muskegon's goalie was awesome...he faced about 50 shots. Flint would have had a 4-1 lead at the end of the first period if not for him.

They're called buzz killers. Usually unhappy folk who can't stand seeing someone else happy...or someone else do well. I don't know where if anywhere McCarty will end up above the IHL, but I just think it's fun to see him playing at any level. I have also been impressed with how he has handled himself with the fans and media, etc. here in Flint. It shows sincerity.

I don't remember Mac being on the Red Wings roster for his goals and assists. P.S. He also got in a fight (and won, of course) tonight.

McCarty just scored in Flint's game tonight. That's one goal and two assists in three games so far.

Hey, McCarty just scored a goal in the Flint game tonight...one goal, two assists in 3 games...maybe the Wings could use his scoring prowess tonight.

I tend to agree with you. I was just thinking during the second period how Detroit is playing as if they are playing against any other team in the NHL, instead of the 2nd place team. Doesn't anyone watch any video tapes of the Senators?? Definitely seems like poor preparation to me. Here's hoping for a new and improved third period. I really do wish Osgood was in net tonight. I would feel more comfortable against a team like Ottawa if Flipper The Flopper wasn't in goal for Detroit.

Well, it's been a long time since he's played, so I actually expected less from him than what we got last night in Flint.

I thought Mac looked good tonight at the game. He had the most hits, I believe, and he also had an assist. He even played on the special teams. He and the Port Huron goalie were going at it all night, jawing away, and one time Mac gave him a big snow job in the face. He got him off his game and that led to Flint's scoring comeback late in the game. Flint won 4-3. The place was a complete sell-out. Haven't seen that in years. They cheered loudly whenever he checked and when he got his assist. He was very enthusiastic throughout the game.

Very good post. And McCarty is indeed already paying dividends in Flint...they've sold more tickets already for tomorrow's game than any game this season. Flint has been in first place most of the season but have had crappy crowds. Bring in a known enforcer and the building fills up. What does that tell you? Don Cherry would love it. I bet Mickey Redmond would, too. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night's game.

This morning's game in Muskegon was for school kids. Teams do this once a year in the league and rough stuff is not encouraged. McCarty pounding someone into the ice was not on the agenda in today's game. It was supposed to be a G-rated game, my friend. Here's an article about Mac from the Windsor newspaper: http://www.canada.com/windsorstar/story.ht...58a&k=81337

http://blog.mlive.com/flintjournal/savaget...esday.html#more Hopefully this will be a good thing for everyone concerned. Come on up to Flint for Friday's game, all you Detroit fans of McCarty. It's much cheaper than JLA.

Holmstrom is a HUGE part of this team, and you know that is exactly what that piece of crap Pronger was thinking when he lined Homer up. Don Cherry better rail on this "good Canadian" boy tomorrow on HNIC or I'll be ticked (I love Don). I fear Homer has a concussion by the look in his eyes. I sure hope that he is OK and will be back Thursday. I know we won't see any more of him tonight. (ETA: Yay! I'm wrong!) And wtf with Bertuzzi? Holy living GOD, man, DO something! Even PRETEND that you're going to do something to send a message. If his back is so screwed up that he can't even throw a decent check, then get him the heck off the ice. He's turned out to be the useless piece of poo that I feared he would be when Detroit got him. Even his goal was a piece of poo.
