Huh ? I was under the impression that as long as your stick isn't above the bar you can do that. The lacrosse-like move whereby the puck is picked up on the blade of the stick and “whipped” into the net shall be permitted provided the puck is not raised above the height of the shoulders at any time and when released, is not carried higher than the crossbar. See also 80.1.

He is such a dousche. He does the same thing every time. He does something like this, throws up his hands and then yells at the ref like he didn't do anything.

So much crow eating needs to go on in this thread.
-
Bad call but the ref who called it was behind the play and probably only saw the head jerk back thinking an something made contact with his head. Beautiful textbook hit. Arm and elbow down and skates on the ice.

A very rare lucky pinball bounce goal for us there.

A bit if a dive there by Kessler but I agree.

The SuperSkills competition is an embarrassment

Yeah, it is pretty lame. I wish the breakaway challenge was more serious. Like an elimination challenge. The props are lame. -
No s***. He flails like he was hit high, low and shot in the ankle. He did the same thing when Datsyuk hit him. He is a *****.
-
Ehh..Jackman should get an Oscar for that like he did on the Datsyuk hit. He embellished pretty badly and I hate Cooke. Watch Jackman flail as he goes down. Still should have been a penalty though.

I believe it was the second but the Blues were skating right to left on the TV. I could be wrong. Thanks for trying

To be fair the power play was the result of one of your players not being able to keep his cool and went after Helm. I am not sure how often you watch the Wings but you will notice that when a Wing gets run or hit hard, we don't take stupid penalties after. Our players realize we have a PP coming and they keep their cool. In my opinion they were both going after the puck and Helm caught him off guard and off balance resulting in the hit looking pretty bad. Contact in a race for the puck happens several times a game though and it is a fight for the puck, not interference. In the play where Homstroms stick was knocked out of his hand, after he picked it up he chased the puck carrier and was picked/interferred with and it wasnt called. Holmstrom could actually get shot with a shotgun out there and not draw a call though. This isnt just against you guys, he never gets calls. If you can find the play where Holmstroms stick is knocked out of his hand and then seconds later he was intereferred with I would appreciate it. I want to see if the interference/pick is as bad as I though it was at the time. Thanks

Great videos. Two things really jump out at me. 1 - Look at all that room behind the nets 2 - Bravo to the referee in game 6 who didnt blow the whistle when Roy held his arm up like he had it. I cringe watching it today thinking that would be one of those playes that would draw a quick whistle.

Soooo, that isnt an example. Lidstrom was run and injured by someone even though Aaron Downey was dressed. I guess I should further go into my opinion on the whole matter. It pisses me off more than anything when a player on the other team is taking runs at our players. Doane, Backes or whoever. I DO think and depseratley want someone on the team that will stand up to these guys but I DONT want a guy who plays 2 shifts every 10 or so games. I think Holland and company have this same opinion. They want someone who can contribute and stand up to the guys taking runs at us. That is just a hard player to find. My issue with Cherry's comment was simply using Aaron Downey as an example. If he would have said McCarty, Shanahan or Kocur I would have agreed. Those guys played every game and could contribute. I think we still would have won the cup without Downey, I don't think we win without the other guys I mentioned. I do get irritated that we dont have that mean SOB on the team who does more policing out there. I wish we had a Pronger type but a lot less douchey. Exactly...name all of the teams in the league that have no enforcer at all. There can't be many of them. So there is a high probability that the team that wins the Stanley Cup has one. There is nothing I dont get. See my post above but again your example shows no evidence that what Downey did change the game. Also, the best example for you to use to prove some sort of point is the March 26th game when all hell broke loose. I believe that whole mele without a doubt brought the team together. I think that game was huge.

Would we have won if he didnt dress ? Can you give an example of when Aaron Downey was the game changer with a timely fight ?
-
I just watched it and WOW...he is literally giving Aaron Downey credit for the Wings last cup.
-
Cherry has always disliked the Wings because he hates Euros. If you have some sort of evidence that not having a tough guy prevents you from winning it all, present it. Otherwise stfu Don Cherry. I mean come on....the guy claims Datsyuk is a dirty player.
-
Primeau took a run at someone and I can't remember who.
-
Be honest now. You cant possibly look a the pictures above and think that Datsyuk deserved a penalty and suspension. Take a look at the right arm of Datsyuk. Notice where the white line on the sleeve of the jersey is in relation to the elbow. Now take a look at the left arm and notice where the white line is. He hit Jackman with a clean hit and Jackman was pissed because he got caught and threw his little tantrum.

Does anyone know where I can find the video of the disallowed goal ? I tried YouTube and shockingly NHL.com doesn't have the video in the highlights of the game. I saw it but a friend didn't and I wanted him to see it.
-
Yeah...great goal. Wow

Anyone else outside of Detroit with Center Ice know what is going to happen with the Wings game since the Caps vs. Rangers is going to run into it ?
-
How many have there been for us ? Is there somewhere that it can be looked up ? A friend of mine thinks that it happens just as often to every team in the league. I dont know if he is correct or not but I am curious how many we have had this year. I remember 3 for sure but would like more info.

My biggest problem is that 98% of the time the NHL gets the call wrong. The rule is pretty simple to follow. The refs make the wrong call according to the rules and of course the NHL is too ***** to admit the call was wrong. 69.1 Interference on the Goalkeeper - This rule is based on the premise that an attacking player’s position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed. In other words, goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact. The rule will be enforced exclusively in accordance with the on-ice judgment of the Referee(s), and not by means of video replay or review. For purposes of this rule, “contact,” whether incidental or otherwise, shall mean any contact that is made between or among a goalkeeper and attacking player(s), whether by means of a stick or any part of the body. The overriding rationale of this rule is that a goalkeeper should have the ability to move freely within his goal crease without being hindered by the actions of an attacking player. If an attacking player enters the goal crease and, by his actions, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed. If an attacking player has been pushed, shoved, or fouled by a defending player so as to cause him to come into contact with the goalkeeper, such contact will not be deemed contact initiated by the attacking player for purposes of this rule, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact. If a defending player has been pushed, shoved, or fouled by an attacking player so as to cause the defending player to come into contact with his own goalkeeper, such contact shall be deemed contact initiated by the attacking player for purposes of this rule, and if necessary a penalty assessed to the attacking player and if a goal is scored it would be disallowed.

Notice that the ref is starring right at it from about 4 feet away and his arm is not up, which means the moronic ref from center ice must have called it. Unless that ref just forgot to put his arm up.
