    Trade Deadline Deals

i agree completely. clearing out the front of the net is going to be key so i hope we can address that. but i wouldnt worry about cleary, franzen, or filpulla going anywhere. sadly, as much as i like Huds im starting to think that he might be headed out. i really hope he stays but he seems to be the only roster player of value that we can afford to move. personally id like to see us add blake and any forward that can play like franzen played against the ducks. i thought he was extremely effective on their big forwards. it was a turning point for him in my opinion

    Spectors Hockey.

just saw this over at spectors..... Bruce Garrioch reports the following: - San Jose Sharks GM Doug Wilson is among the most active GMs seeking a trade. He's believed interested in LA Kings blueliner Rob Blake but the Kings asking price is said to be a player, number one pick and a prospect. The Rangers, Avalanche, Red Wings and Senators are also rumored to have made inquiries about Blake. SPECTOR'S NOTE: If that truly is the Kings asking price Blake won't be going anywhere, not with this year's draft expected to be a deep one. seems a bit much for a rental although i am coming around to the idea of Blake being a good addition. what would you be willing to give up (or not give up) for this to happen??? i suppose id lean towards not pulling the trigger on this one but id hate to see us go down 2 of our top D men in the WCF again plus it would suck if the sharks got him and we didnt, it would sure improve their team

    Kirk Maltby

actually, prior to his back injury i thought maltby was playing better than he had in 3-4 yrs. now that hes in the lineup again there doesnt appear to be any signs of it being a recurring problem. it seems like they did the right thing by keeping him out so long

    foppa

as soon as he ditched that aves sweater i stopped hating him and actually started to like him a bit. that said, i think id like him in the winged wheel as long as hes as healthy as he says. and if thats the case he owes that dr in phoenix big time....just think of all the s*** hes been through with that foot! only thing that seems strange to me (and this is just what i would do in his positition) why not just wait until next season to come back??? just to make sure its 100% and that hes in "game shape". id hate to see him re-injure himself or hurt something else because he wasnt ready for the rigors of the playoffs. any thoughts on what his asking price might be???

    1/8 GDT: Red Wings 1, Avalanche 0

Wings to make offer for Sundin?

no way we give up good young talent for a rental. the risk/reward just doesnt balance out. and Huds and Flip have shown us this year that they are here to stay. the only thing id be willing to part with are lots and lots and lots of high draft picks (even 08 picks). lets not forget how well our organization drafts in the late rounds.......its why ive never had a problem with us dealing early picks. that being said, if its picks the leafs want theyd be more likely to deal with a team lower in the standings with higher picks. ie SJ or Ahneheim bottom line...sundin or no sundin, i think we'll win the cup. so dont trade just my 2 cents

The best team money can buy

damn this tougher than it looks. especially if youre trying to make a well balanced team and not just a bunch of all stars. gotta give credit to the GMs of the league Holmstrom (2.25m) Zetterberg (2.7m) Alfredsson (4.7m) Morrow (4.1m) BrindAmour (4m) Michalek (628k) Huselius (1.4m) Kessel (850k) Richards (942k) Brown (1.175m) Draper (2.1m) Clark (1.1m) Stillman (1.75m) Semin (1.2m) Lidstrom (7.6m) Beauchemin (1.65m) Volchenkov (2.5m) Phaneuf (850k) Bouwmeester (2.175m) Commodore (1.3m) Chelios (850k) Kipprosoff (3.6m) Osgood (850k) 50.27m

recchi cleared waivers and has been assigned to the AHL. looks like his career will fade away like Leclairs did

    HOMER

dont know if anyone else has noticed, but homers on pace to score 45 goals this season!!! sure its early but a quarter of the season is enough time to get a decent idea of how players could perform. thoughts, predictions??

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

numbers dont tell the whole story. i think it comes down to how well the team is playing infront of the goalie. right now for some reason we have been hanging hasek out to dry while playing stellar in front of ozzie. i have no doubt that if our D played the same every night that hasek would have some pretty damn good stats to. i mean ozzie only had to make 12 saves last night while Dom faced over 30 against chicago. somethings wrong with that. i think they are both fantastic goalies but if things dont change as far as defensive play then id stick with ozzie. and i agree 100% that tonight is a huge game for dom as far as public opinion goes. but at the end of the day, having to make the decision between a hot goalie and a future hall of famer isnt a bad problem to have. some teams dont even have 1 good goalie

    HOMER

jesus man, just trying to start a little conversation about one of my favorite players. didnt mean to awaken any unresolved issues you may have. GO HOMER!!!!! 38 goals 42 assists is my prediction

    Eric Lindros Retires

absolutely ridiculous! im sorry you didnt like the guy but he was a great player........ career numbers 760gp 372g 493a 865p +215 1398pim also over a point per game in th playoffs definitely not a bust

    Wings Preview on ESPN.com

dont know if anyone has read it yet but in one section they talk about how the return of Mike Sillanger should provide a lot of extra gritt........i assume they meant Drake. but i guess thats par for the course for those idiots, they dont deserve to broadcast games again!

    Markov considering the Pens

i do hope he returns to the wings at a reasonable price but id have to say that the Pens are one of a few teams that could overspend and still benefit from signing him.

Eklund at it again. Forsberg to Detroit?

i used to THINK i hated Forsberg but the moment he took off the Colorado sweater that feeling vanished. same with Foote, Blake, Roy, and Drury. i cheer for the winged wheel and the players who wear it across their hearts bottom line.....if he wants to play here and the money is right, sign him :!: gotta let the past go

    Datsyuk and Zetterberg

i agree with you, he probably wont see much beyon the 4th line if he even makes the team. but it seems like some people on this board think hes going to have an immediate impact. it could happen but probably not
  22. scotvm

    Datsyuk and Zetterberg

to me this whole discussion hinges on how good Grigorenko ends up being. if he flops then i dont think it makes sense to split them up because then youve just got 2 avg lines instead of one great one. but if he ends up playing well then theres no reason not to spit Z and Pav up...... cleary-datsyuk-homer franzen-zetterberg-grigorenko just my opinion, but either way i still think we need another forward

    Who's played drop in hockey?

id say the main disadvantage of pick up hockey is the lack of established teams. its just not the same when everyone is playing with different people each week. theres no comerodery and not as much competition. if you can do drop in AND a league that would be best because the more you skate the better youll get

Kulfan's list of remaining forward options

dont get me wrong, i dont think Yashin is the sollution. but it seems like every remaining UFA has some question marks. lets get a few things straight................. #1. no one, and i mean no one, including Yashins camp, believe that hes going to get 4 million from any NHL team. hes already getting upwards of 2 mil from the isles and adding another 4 mil would suggest hes a top flight center.........even Yashin himself could admit that he is most certainly not worth that. if the man really wants to play in the NHL next season he cant ask for more than 2 mil or hes out of luck. so dont worry about us selling the farm for this guy #2. hes played on crap teams his whole career where hes been expected to be the heavenly savior each time. no one can live up to un-atainable goals. im open to the idea of giving him a shot on a winning team that has a chance at the cup #3. im struggling to see how our 2nd line looks better as it is right now (and im including every possible combo that people have suggested) than it would with a talented center capable of putting up solid #'s. call him a cancer in the locker room but i dont think he can break the resolve of the players we already have there. #4. say what you want about Lang. yes he was lazy and he sucks..........but he scored 20 goals, including some big goals in the playoffs, and those need to be replaced somehow. without a legit 2nd line center we are in trouble even without possible injuries. so im just trying to say that it will be a gamble no matter who we sign and it wont be the end of the world if it ends up being Yashin
