    Peter Forsberg

Yeah, and Pierre made a big deal out of Sakic not covering Franzen. Which made no sense, the second Av had the responsibility of taking out Franzen. Sakic got fried by Zetterberg just like any other mortal. I was glad the color guy corrected him.

    Peter Forsberg

good point. i hadn't thought of that. it's all about marketing. btw, i have no respect for a guy who gets sand in his putty and sits out a whole year, then decides to jump in the league with a playoff contender just before the playoffs... TWICE!

    VS Announcers

Waffleboarded is not a hockey term. It's a word that distracts the viewer from the game. Some non-hockey terms work, like "fires a shot," which is acceptable. A 4-syllable word that makes the viewer think is unnecessary. Similar to another non-hockey term that he had to throw in today... "he SHUFFLEBOARDS it ahead." So dumb, I. HATE. HIM.

    I'm slightly dissappointed

When Colorado wins both home games (like Nashville just did)...

    I'm slightly dissappointed

I'd much rather have a tight, suspenseful, one-goal game rather than a four-goal blow out. BUTTTTT! These blow out games are a nice mix, having a heart attack every game would definitely take it's toll. Even though this one wasn't quite as exciting, a win is a win and I will never complain about that.

    VS Announcers

"he oozes it into the zone" a new low. "back in Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Six" thanks for the history retard. good try at sounding sophisticated and distracting your viewers from the game at hand.

    Any update on maltby?

I think he'll bring more than Drake.

    VS Announcers

Leads it back ahead. Such an oxymoron. That's a good one, I'll have to listen for that so my hatred can grow.

    octopi swinging

yeah, took them forever... i think i'm finally seeing Fairy Bettman's plan for this... the linesman don't know what they're doing, so if Al doesn't come out there, then they have to do it and it takes them so long that Vs has to take an extra commercial break... One extra set of commercials, more money! money money money! Well done, Fairy.

    Larry Aurie

either way, with a name like that, he must have been really good at pulling his goalie. ok, im done.

    octopi swinging

He didn't swing it on the ice. If you watched carefully, you could see on the scoreboard during Vs. pregame that the the linesman had carried an octopus off the ice. Al grabbed it by the Zamboni entrance and swung it over his head while off the ice, the crowd still saw it and went crazy.

    Avalanche injury status

The Wolski injury was a double wammy. His own guy takes him out (they both tried to check Franzen)... and we go in and score. I thought it was funny that moron Emrick didn't see what happened in any of the replays... then realized late in the game that Wolski was out and he was being told it happened during a goal. It was plain as day what happened. I hate Emrick.

    VS Announcers

I like when Emrick talks about other things... because then I don't have to hear him ruin the actual play with his idiotic words. My girlfriend asked me last night if that idiot has a checklist of non-hockey words that he makes himself run-through every night. What a moron. Anyway, him getting distracted allows me to focus on the game and not hear these stupid comments: -he PITCHFORKS it -he LOBS it -he SHAKES it -he TURNS it -he SPINS it -he SWAGGERS -he KNIFES it -a MAGICAL pass -135 SECONDS left in the contest -he WALKS it into the zone -he DANGLES the puck (worst part about that one is other announcers are starting to say it) -it's WAFFLEBOARDED aside please add to the list, I know there are at least a QUARTER of a Billion left (doing my best to use retarded mathematical terms like that dumbass). edit: adding to the list

I thought Cummy Burton was a porn star.

    on the same page?

Although I agree that Forsberg isn't the player he once was... I still think he brings much more to his team than Stuart to us. I don't think very highly of Stuart at all. I really don't understand why everyone thinks he's so good.

Have we won a game yet?

It's funny... we're the powerhouse. Very much associated with winning like the Yankees or Patriots. Yet, they don't get similar treatment.

    Can/Should the Wings Sweep Colorado?

i would put my money on a 6 game series. We played great last night, created so many chances, yet barely came away with a win. Ozzie let in that super-softy, I'm sure that will happen again. He's always been like that - making insane saves, then letting in a terrible one. We just need to pile on the scoring chances and we'll be in good shape, but the Avs will stay take a couple. by the way, I can't imagine Forsberg would have had much impact on the game last night. but that's just me, and I hate him.

    I Freaking LOVE hockey

In the midst of all the positives, all the negatives, all the goalie bashing, all the name-calling... I just wanted to say, I FREAKING LOVE HOCKEY. You could combine all the other existing sports, but together, they still wouldn't bring the joy that hockey brings to me. In the middle of the intense game we saw tonight, I had to pause it and just soak in what had happened. The play that caused this was when Hannan took that shot off his foot. He went down hard. This extreme amount of pain would have made a basketball player squeal and beg for his mama, would have made a baseball player miss a season, would have made a football player call for the Gator to come pick him up so he could rest until the playoffs. But what did Hannan do? He took it, he picked up his limp body and did all he could to get off the ice. Even the ref came over and helped him. All this, mind you, without stopping the play - without whistle. That is a hockey player my friend. And make no mistake, I hate everything about the Avs, but above all else I love hockey. And Hannan made me proud. (I think of the Captain Morgan slogan when I say this... "he had a little Stevie Y in him.") There are so many reasons behind it, but think hard and pick the number one reason why you love the game. To me, it's broad yet deep and only a word a true hockey fan can fully understand... one word... Passion. So here's to all of you, friend or foe, Wing or Av, Hockey forever.

    I Freaking LOVE hockey

I hoped by starting this thread that emotion would envelop all of us... remind us why we really watch / play the game. Reading these posts not only brings back fond memories, but also strikes a new chord of realization each time. It's very hard for me not to get the chills reading these. There's not much in the world that brings out this much emotion in me... so I'll be the first guy to admit, it's hard to keep a tear from my eye. Hockey just means so much. Nothing like it. by the way, thanks for the scrawny kid to a God story - perfect... Steve Yzerman was the trigger for me too.

red wings on versus drinking game

yeah, there was a drop pass at the point between someone's legs that went 5 feet... he called it a "Lob." What a freaking idiot, I hate Emrick. He sucks so bad. Making up words, reminding us when there are 175 seconds left in the period, slow at calling the play... i hate him. By the way, the Versus camera guy is nearly as bad as Emrick. He must be used to shooting baseball games, he can't keep up with hockey at all. Ruining my experience... I blame Bettman, ha.

    Redwings Medallion Collection

i hate to be debbie downer here, but these things look pretty dumb. The last thing I want is a $3 medallion with the standard mug shot photo of each player. these are like the equivalent of "pogs" and will be thrown in a shoe box to rot just as quickly. They should do pucks or something, at least then they are worth having around and have something to do with hockey.

    MVP of round 1?

    haha, yeah right.

    Stuart's Hand

There was one shot during the NBC broadcast that showed Stuart shaking hands with the Predators. Not sure if anyone else saw it, but he was using his left hand to shake, holding his gloves with his right hand / arm. From what I can see; his hand injury is the only injury incurred in round 1 - and it's probably so minor that he won't miss any action. I do also feel that Cleary is not 100%. Fortunately, we've escaped round 1 without anything major. Any word on when Maltby will be back? It's gonna be very hard to take Helm out of the lineup at this point. Who will sit?

    MVP of the Series

I like your thinking... I've read some people putting him down for his play in Round 1 but I disagree... he is fun to watch. Always stepping up and making a hit from out of nowhere - not afraid to step in on an offensive chance - mucks it out in the corners - always quick to the move the puck up the ice, always looking for the big pass. I really like him.
