I freaking hate Emrick and Pierre. Emrick makes up words all through the game that have nothing to do with hockey, and somehow people think he's smart for it??? "he pitchforks it into the zone" - "he spins it into the zone" - "he hooks it into the zone" ... there are worse ones, but even those are stupid as hell. Next time I'm at the rink, I'm going to ask someone I'm playing with to "spin it" or "hook it" and see what they do. And how about... "100 seconds left in the period." what a freaking moron. Part of his duty in broadcasting a game is guiding the viewer, not distracting him / her. Every time he says an idiotic measurement like 100 seconds or "he's been playing for an eighth of a century" it is very distracting and stupid. As for Pierre... that guy is always talking about the mood and feel on the bench, he has no freaking idea, they are all fabricated guesses. It's like watching a reality show where it's edited to make you think an event it happened a certain way. Sorry Pierre, I see right through it. Way to make people think you know what you're talking about just to have a job. On the contrary, I met Pierre and he was a SUPER NICE GUY. So I don't hate his guts, just his foolish commentary.

i do agree with this, but my main point is missed. this is a way Bettman and the NHL can segue these Playoff logos into ads. I do not want more ads on the ice, ESPECIALLY inside the zones. and to the Australian dude that is pro-Bettman and keeps rolling those super-awesome digital eyes... check out a picture of the european leagues ice surfaces... if that doesn't look like a nightmare to you, then I don't know what is. that's my point, that's what i'm afraid of. About a month ago, Bettman said on NHLradio that he wants to put ads down the sleeves of goalies next year. what's to stop him from putting ads inside the offensive zones. and yes, it's dark paint, it bothers me because i lose the puck for a split second. if you have superman eyes and can distinguish one tone of black from another, then great. you rule.

to clear up the elbowing thing... his arm was tucked into his side at impact. So if you think his elbow made contact, you may be correct, but it's not a penalty since his elbow was against his own rib cage. i'm not sold on him leaving his feet either... the Predator did not expect that hit in a million years, he got caught with his head down while he was getting low on his feet ready to charge up the ice. Kronwall was coming in for a normal hit, the guy gets low, all of a sudden it looks like Kronwall is higher than he actually is. After impact, he is immediately lofted into the air since the Predator was so low to the ice. the play looked odd so the ref called a penalty. if that hit was on one of our players, i would have expected a penalty as well because it looked bad in real time. but now, after seeing a replay (just like league officials will) i don't believe it's grounds for any further punishment.

i, for one, hate this "my red wings" song. if you get pumped up using this as a simulus... good for you, but i just don't understand. hey hey hockeytown... good stuff.

I agree with that, if I had to choose, I'd pick the ice instead of jerseys... BUT, both royally suck.

similar to the luxuries of being an American citizen with our right to vote, we are also fans of the NHL which is why the NHL exists. I realize I cannot change your apathy, but contrary to what you may think, you do have a voice and more importantly money to spend (or not spend) on NHL products. Control.

can't say i agree with that... you must be a yankees supporter too and yes, there have been ads at center ice for years... usually 4 of them near the offsides faceoff dots. those are fine. im against the new ones in the offensive zone which distract the eye from the puck and the action.

If this is an April Fools joke, I'll be extremely happy. My problem is when I was listening to Bettman speak on XM NHL Radio 6 weeks ago about putting ads on goalies jerseys (down their sleeves). That was indeed no joke. Bettman is capable of it, if it really is a joke, it's not too far off.

this is an unbelievable outrage. Congratulations Mr. Bettman, you have successfully turned our beloved sport into a minor-league disgrace. Until he is gone, our sport will continue to be destroyed. I found this page the other day, I've ordered mine, I wish everyone in every arena would wear these for the first round of the playoffs... before using my imagination i literally see empty seats and am reminded of the lame, quiet fans of the lower bowl / JLA in general... now using my imagination, i hear a handful of die-hards screaming for Mac, while the rest of the arena remaining calm and sipping martinis even while the Grind Line is the starting line. Depressing. Go Mac, you deserve better.

I hate ESPN so much. The only time they recognize hockey is when they want to bash it. (the Roy's getting suspended). Why not report on Ovechkin's ridiculous year? I seriously hate them. I strictly use yahoo.com now for NHL (and all other sports) news. I only use ESPN.com for Buccigross's articles because he is the man.

I see this guy's new blog entry says Howard has been sent down. Looks like Hasek is done puking his guts out.

I like our chances on the 7-10 ranked teams in the west. Round two is going to be just as rough as ever though. Minn, SJ, and Anaheim are insane right now. We'll need to stay healthy because those series' are going 6-7 games.

go to tsn.com/nhl and and the headline is about the stomp, at the bottom of the paragraph preview, there is a little tv screen with the word "stomp" by it... you can watch it there. at first I wasn't sure what to think, Kessler's legs are tied up around Pronger's right leg. A normal hockey play where one player is down and tries to slow up the other player that put him there. so Pronger was obviously frustrated as anyone would be, the first time i watched it I thought he lost his balance and just tried to get free and came back down on Kessler by accident... Second time watching it - it looks like no accident. He looks back at Kessler, he frees his foot, then deliberately stomps down hard. If you ask me, Pronger is just like Simon, he needs some mental help. I hate this guy.

he better be in for downey... im tired of seeing downey learn to skate each night. all he can do is fight, if he doesn't slip and fall. McCarty has skill, hands, and ice-sense... oh, and will fight. Downey should go back to the minors and learn a new, more-valuable dimension to his game that McCarty already doesn't do.

I've seen Lidstrom lose games for us too, maybe he should be traded as well.

it's not exactly over yet... the thrashers and caps just made another deal at 3:31... if we had a deal in the works before 3, it may not be over until 6... you never know. it's legal as long as the league knows about it before 3pm.

i'm basing this off of the dozen games I've seen Stuart play in person this year... I have yet to see his mean streak, but if he takes care of our stars by showing a physical / enforcer presence (again, that I have yet to see) then I will be happy with this pickup. As of today, we're no better with Brad Stuart.

Stuart should be in the 3rd defensive pairing... Lilja should be playing in front of him... I don't know where all you people come off thinking Stuart is so good. He's extremely mediocre, and stood out to me as one of the Kings worse players this year.

not better than nothing... this is no better than not making a pickup at all... at least we didn't give up anything... YOU ALL WILL BE DISAPPOINTED... STUART SUCKS. hope you like watching rafalski give the puck away, it's about to be doubled for your turnover pleasure.
