I hated Guerin well before his comments. But this new "bandwagon" you speak of is because our boys never speak this way about other teams and we don't take well to tards like Guerin saying those things about us.
-
yep, thats it, what a moron.. hope he uses that pep talk again this year, it worked real well for the Caps in 98.
-
I forgot Guerin. That guy is an idiot... remember when he destroyed that hotel room after losing with the US during the olympics years ago? The dude's a total moron. Same for Wilson, what a jackass. If you want to see a prime example, watch the segment from our 1998 stanley cup championship dvd that features Wilson giving the Caps a pre-game pep talk. He kept referencing some brave native american that said something like "today we die, i'm not afraid" something like that. he kept saying it in that phrase in the indian language, it sounded so stupid. terrible pep talk... he sucks. go wings.

I assume this has come up before and I apologize if I bringing up old news... First off, I hate these guys that work for PTI. Around the Horn isn't much better, but Wilbon and Cornheiser can go to hell. Today's show started with their usual list of topics in a column to the right... MLB, NBA, NBA, NBA, college Fball, MLB, SLASH, MLB, NBA, MLB, NBA, NBA. All they can do is talk about the bad things that happen in the NHL and it drives me crazy. This is why people think hockey is so barbaric, because if they don't watch games, they are fed bull crap from the mass-media. I love John Buccigross from Sportscenter (and previously NHL2night) and he complains about the media's mis-information super-highway as well. I'd rather them not talk about hockey all together if this is what they're going to do. And here is some proof that they are total idiots and are commenting on events that they know absolutely nothing about. the topic "Slash" beings... Wilbon "When we talk hockey these days, it's usually because somebody is swinging their stick like an axe. And, oh surprise, it happened again this weekend. Calgary back-up goalie, Jamie Mac... Lennon..." (weird pause as if he's unsure how to say the name... really? how hard is it to say McLennan... maybe if you don't follow hockey AT ALL. Therefore he shouldn't report anything about it!) "going Lizzie Boarden to the torsoe of Johan Frazier" (really, Frazier? *******). "...Tony, I thought we were supposed to see less of this junk in the playoffs?" Cornheiser "Yeah, Jeremy Roenick came on the show and said that you don't see a lot of fighitng in the playoffs." (last time i checked, slashing isn't fighting, retards). The Tony went on to make what he considers a slashing motion... putting two hands together like he was holding a golf club and swinging... obviously this idiot does not know how to hold a hockey stick. That kind of stuff sticks out like a sore thumb to me and he should NEVER report or comment about hockey. I realize it is not completely the hosts of these shows faults... and now I'm back to ESPN. I hate them. I now try to only visit nhl.com for hockey info and yahoo sports for any other sports info and I urge you to do the same. If it weren't for Buccigross and Melrose, Espn would be dead to me. Go Wings, Damn it.
-
I'd also like to add this... it's not just a grudge espn has against the NHL, i think it's hockey in general. I say this because the Frozen Four Championship was NOT broadcast in HD. That totally pissed me off. As for Buccigross, do not be surprised if he is an employee of Versus by the beginning of October. That dude drinks, eat, and sleeps hockey... espn is not for him. I believe it's meerly a paycheck.

With the angle of the stick that hit Homer, I'm not sure a visor would have helped him any. it would have been from up and under and possible could have hurt him worse. regardless, it's just another example of the players not having nearly enough respect for each other. Since they can't clutch and grab, they try to lift the stick... missed stick, stick to the face. Not sure there's any way around this... all i know is that pavs and zetterberg lift sticks every shift and i have yet to see either of them lose control and blast somebody's face.

Yeah, I think for sure the Wings are going to keep hitting. Only way they'll stop is if the game is a blowout. The thing is, half of our guys are grinders anyhow, so the physical play won't stop because we're running 4 lines... 3, 95, 45, 23, 11, 18, 33, 17, 44, 93, 24, 96, even 13 and 37. All those guys hit non-stop... even if you don't want to count Quincy, Dats, and Sammy, that still leaves over half our team. Babcock's built a monster. It rocks. If we play like games 1,2,5, and 6, it's over for the rest of the West.
-
ah cool, thanks. i just now saw the lil cesars logo on the tail, nice. haha.
-
I know this is totally irrelevant, but isn't it called Red Bird 2 now? I thought a few years back they started using a new plane. also, it obviously is the Wings jet, but on that site, where does it says Wings / Tigers or anything?

nice post. being a fan is fun... being a fan is complaining, being a fan is being relieved when you're proven wrong, being a fan is rejoicing when it all comes together. If you ask me, this thread is about being a cheerleader more than a fan. To me, message boards are for fans to be fans and attending a game is for fans to be cheerleaders.

i'd welcome jimmy howard to the lineup with open arms besides, osgood would not be suspended for a slash, he would be suspended for beating the crap out of kiprusoff if he had the jewels to fight him. (ask Patty Roy about that).

Brett's out with a concussion due to a blatant sucker punch intended to injure. Langkow plays in game 6 even after blatant sucker punch intended to injure. those are the facts, this is why we complain. rightfully so. turn off your computer if you want to act like a hard ass. we just don't want to see anyone else get hurt.

Per TSN: McLennan suspended 5 games, Lebda out for Game 6
pavyaz19 replied to Ozzie30's topic in General
we NEED tonight to be a one-goal game all the way through. then finish em of with an empty-netter at 59:55 so they only have 5 seconds to cheap shot us. -
TSN reporting Lebda has suffered concussion
pavyaz19 replied to omnipotent_hudler's topic in General
BS!!!! I suppose by ending a career you must be thinking a knee-injury. again, BS! at NO point did Lebda throw out a knee or have any intent to injure. that was a hip-check, maybe you've never heard of one before. He threw his hip into Langkow. Lebda is shorter than Langkow, so ultimately, he was going to be lower than him anyway. And the referees saw he was hurt so they tried to come up with some sort of penalty to call.. clipping? I was hit the SAME EXACT way in bantam except the refs made a good NO-call and I didn't go punch the guy in the cage. Also, i just revied the play and Lebda DID NOT hit his head on the ice / boards during or after impact of the clean check... Therefore, LANGKOW'S PUNCH DID CAUSE THE CONCUSSION. suspend his ass. And I must say that due to all of Lebda's head injuries already, that punch may be the only element of that play that could cause a career-ending result. -
Untrue, right after that hit, i replayed it multiples times with my DVR (i suggest you do the same). you will see that at the point of impact, Pavel's elbow is down (perpendicular) to the ice, then once Phaneauf bounced back like a 5th grader, Datsyuk's should recoiled and came up - AFTER CONTACT. You saw elbow, cried "detroit's dirty' and moved on... recorded video evidence shows that Datsyuk's elbow was legally down during impact.

big deal, it's not like our concern for how poorly the team is playing effects how they will play this weekend. does babacock check letsgowings.com every night just to make sure the fans are showing top-notch / online / message board support? doubtful. i'll say this thought, the people going to the game... BE LOUD! make the Joe sound like the mid-90s. that would be true fan support... if i could be there and we were down by 2 in the 3rd, i'd still be screaming at the top of my lungs... also, a personal request, will someone please get there early, walk down to the glass for warm ups and hold a BIG sign up to the glass reading "Mr. Lang, PLEASE HUSTLE!" i think that would light a fire under his lazy butt... i dont think a fan could be more supportive. he's not going to get mad, he's going to think about it and hustle. if he doesn't hustle, i suppose it will feel like just a normal game.
-
as a flames fan, you haven't seen what this wings team is capable of... you may think we were much stronger tonight, and that may be true, but the wings usually control the game, tonight that was not the case. we could NOT set up anything, period. that is what we are all bitching about. if we don't win, people look for things to fix. i agree that last year the wings had no heart (except for Stevie, he had nothing but), but this year, only a handful of guys look like they don't care... instead the Flames have somehow figured out how to rush and frustrate us, therefore we can not set up our seemingly choreographed scoring chances. this is why it's 2-2. if the flames continue to play like this, we will see another early exit... i the flames let up just a tiny bit, bring on the Sharks.
-
so people NEED to realize that one player doesn't lose a game (Lang), but having another player, on your agenda, means a win? Regardless, I'd take Jiri over Bobby any day.
-
hahaha, oh you're so silly Robert, did you forget about your tee-time Saturday? You can't center the first line, you have to hit the links. But if Babs makes you play, just be lazy and act like you don't care... no one will know you're pouting if you act normal like that.
-
um, any other winger in on the team that can make that simple pass... i'll just say Hudler - yeah, Hudler coulda made that pass while Lang was hitting some range balls.
-
agreed! i also would like to see Lebda replace Samuellson on the PP. Sammy takes retarded shots that NEVER get to the net. I don't hate Mikael, I just wish he'd take an extra half second to make better choices. on a side note, i hate lang, blah.
-
sorry, lang stinks and hudler should be on the ice instead. Babcock is also rising on my crap-o-meter... why would he put that careless, unmotivated player on the ice during key moments? anyone notice that cleary... CLEARY started taking face-offs because Lang STINKS?
-
just wanted to add my two cents to the argument... i think Lang sucked tonight. He played as if Monday morning is way too far into the future for a tee-time. I wish Babcock would grant him his wish and bench him... I just don't get why Babs puts him out there during key situations. i'm tired of Langs sow cows and triple-lutzes. The dude just plain doesn't give a crap. "Oh, there's the puck... meh, you take it... I want a 10 from the judges."
-
just wanted to remind all your naysayers... goal and assist for bert in the first 14 minutes... still wish he was out?!?!?! geesh
-
As much as anyone, i want to blame the loss on Lidstrom's 2 mistakes, Hasek letting in a 40-foot wrister, or the refs missing EVERY freaking elbow, yet calling the phantom interference... instead, I'll state some positives. I thought DANNY MARKOV played excellent. Same for Schneider, i think we take him for granted now, but he was all over the place, bangin bodies and playing good D. Lilja made some nice plays, knocking down some of the Flames' centering passes. All these guys played well and Calgary squeeked by with a win after a very fun "up-and-down" game to watch... I'm looking up for Game 4. If we can get set up and produce a couple more scoring chances, we'll be fine. Unfortunately, i'm feeling like we'll see an overtime period, but we'll prevail. (OT winner for Malts anyone?)
