    Bertuzzi

well, i put my vote in to keep him in the line-up. the guy pretty much hasn't played all year. 1. he's going out there, and throwing his weight around. that's all i expected of him, and every once in a while i see a glimmer of how good his hands are - the ones that gave him 142 goals between 99 and 2003. I think he'll come around. 2. after last year's early exit due to physical weakness, babcock pledged to gain some grit. for this reason, you're not going to see bertuzzi or samuellson sit for hudler. yeah, samuellson isn't scoring, and is giving the freaking puck away on the PP, but he is throwing his weight around. I haven't seen anyone else say this, but I thought Fulpulla looked lost out there in game 3. I love the dude and i think he's gonna be great, but he was awful in my opinion. if it wasn't for his hustle, i'd bash him. (this is me being prepared for a major bashing myself...) i've been watching lidstrom make these bone-headed plays for two years now. This one just so happened to be a game-losing goal, therefore everyone noticed it. I don't think lidstrom is the player he once was and if the media would stop sucking up, i think you'd all catch these mistakes more often as well. (i do however concede to the fact that his fellow players suck up too, which does mean something since they know much more than the media)... regardless, i stand by what i said, he's BEEN making these mistakes for a while now. It's a good thing Lang and Samuellson make mistakes consistantly and can take most of the bashings. Here's to Lilja, MARKOV, and Schneider, they played freaking great in game 3.

    The way NBC films games

glad someone brought this up... 1. i used to hate the behind the net PP angle UNTIL i bought an HD TV. I'm wondering if you people are watching a cropped NTSC version and not HD 16x9. if so, you're going to lose about a 1/6th of the image of each side of your square (4x3) TV. That being said, that extra 1/3 allows you to see so much. I really like that angle during the powerplay, you can see the play develop much better... like being there. -NBC's PP camera was very high compared to what I'm used to, which was OK. But my favorite is HDnet's PP camera, it is much lower, but not connected to the glass behind the net. If you don't have HD or HDnet, I highly recommend it for next season. (Murph does color for HDnet sometimes). 2. I absolutely hate Pierre McGuire. I understand NBC's reasoning for putting a guy between the benches, it's the best seat in the house, and potentially a great perspective for the audience. But PEE-AIR blows. I don't agree with most of what he says on a hockey level, but mostly, i hate him talking about what the benches are doing and how they're feeling. I tell you this from experience, the media just wants to be heard and they'll talk about what they know people will listen to. Point being, I don't believe half of what he was "hearing" from the benches. I so wished Amonte would of leaned over and given Pee Air s*** while he ripped on the Flames all first period. Just ridiculous. I wish NBC would put someone respectful down there that knows what they're doing. (aka John Buccigross). 3. I've never been a fan of Emrick and his manufactured hockey lingo, i.e. "knifed one out - shivered one - twisted one - spun one - how many bags do you have in your club (retard) - 101 seconds to go - he klomps his glove on that one - rolled in by Calder - nudging it back to center - turned it back further for Cleary - it squibbed off hasek - etc," it gets worse if you pay attention. (by the way, i got all those in 3 minutes during the game's replay on NBC-universalHD, not guessing.) With how bad Pee Air is, I'm starting to not hate Emrick so much. Just give me Dave / Ken and Mickey anyday. (Strader is doing some games for Versus right now, rock). 4. Bert, please come back so Phaneuf stops elbowing Datsyuk... and so Iginla quits being a dick.

    Funny thing that could happen

not sure if i'm dreaming this up or not, but i swear i remember mickey talking about this years ago. again, i may be dreaming, but it seems like goals used to be the first tie-breaker (after wins) and it seems like he told a story about how a team pulled their goalie for like two periods (LONG AGO) just to score goals. The goals against didn't matter, only goals for. can anyone confirm that? or tell me i'm a kook... one of the two.

Which Red Wing drives you nuts?

i love this thread... all of you, quit complaining about 'negativity." look at it like this: they say it's healthy to argue in a relationship. well, this is us loving the Wings, but voicing our complaints. it's unheatlhy to be a rah rah cheerleader all season. if the wings went 82-0, i'd still be upset with Lang for being lazy. Osgood would drive me nuts, but he's usually on the bench - it's hard to give up big rebounds from the bench and he has no reason to shrug after giving up a each goal. It's driving me nuts that Zetterberg is still out, but I'll go somewhere new... Draper drives me nuts for going 150 mph every shift and going offside on half of them - the 150 mph is just fine, but the offsides, not so much. I still love Drapes, esp his PK skills. DId someone call Hudler, Rex? I must not be a big enough fan to not know that... that rules. (or did i read that wrong?) Here's some positivity for all you rah rahs... hats off to schneids for always sticking up for the guys. that LATE hit from neidermeyer on Calder at the end of the period against the Ducks, you know, just before Lilja fought Moen. That rocked that Schneider went in there and started that all up. That late hit was crappy. That's the disrespect they're all talking about. Same for Lilja, everyone loves to hate him, but at least he'll drop the gloves... the game needs more of it or we're gonna see even more head injuries, like what just happened to Lebda.

    Fighting?

GREAT POST! couldn't agree more. Bettman's always saying that he's doing what the fans want... who the hell is he talking to? the moron needs to go back to the NBA. I'm from Ohio, and I say this, get a Canadien to run the league, hire someone that would get it done the way the real fans want it to be done. You know, Stevie would have hit the 700 mark if someone else would have been running the league in 94 or 03. Bettman stole 1.5 seasons from the Captain. I just don't understand, fighting is what draws people to the sport. new fans don't understand the rules, the speed of the game, and the overall point of the game. what DO they understand...? a fight. new fan's thought: "whoa, people are fighting, they have to leave the game for 5 mins, now they're back, now the games over and they shake hands... weird, i have to know more about this crazy game." Bam, before you know it they're at the rink, fans for life. Jeez, quit worrying about the damn fights and start making examples of players that are pulling cheap shots left and right... or how about this, no touch icing. careers end on that stuff... NOT fights. Geesh, if only Don Cherry could run the league! Gary Bettman is a joke. If only the REAL fans could let his dumb ass know.

New to hockey : What is offsides?

I apologize if this has been brought up on the forum before... I, of course, know what is offsides is, but DOES KRIS DRAPER?!?! I love Drapes, nicest guy in the world, works his tail off, but MAN, could he PLEASE stay onside for an entire game, JUST ONCE! I say this in a fun-loving fashion so don't bag on me for bashing a Wing... only Wing I'll bash is Langer, and i know most of you love him and his laxed effort, so I'll save it. -chris PS. love you Drapes!
