that's awesome... because it's true. Datsyuk equal to 4 of the ducks (3 being their top 5 MVP players).

Unfortunately my version of the game was from the Ducks Fox Sports channel (Fox Sports Pacific) but both announcers made a point to say that the post-game antics could lead to suspensions. Regardless, we've all seen what Neidermayer did to Datsyuk with the ridiculous elbow... Anyway, it doesn't look like either of the refs saw the elbow, but they sure saw a lot of other things... 20:00ANACorey Perry : Roughing - 2 min 20:00ANACorey Perry : Fighting (maj) - 5 min 20:00ANACorey Perry : Misconduct (10 min) - 0 min 20:00ANAScott Niedermayer : Fighting (maj) - 5 min 20:00ANATodd Marchant : Game misconduct - 0 min 20:00ANARyan Getzlaf : Hooking - 2 min 20:00ANARyan Getzlaf : Roughing - 2 min 20:00DETPavel Datsyuk : Fighting (maj) - 5 min 20:00DETBrian Rafalski : Fighting (maj) - 5 min I'm not sure what Marchant did. I'm blown away that Pronger stayed out of it. Let's see if the NHL grows a set and suspends one of those high-profile player for a game 7... I'm not holding my breath. I suppose Pronger is clean is a whistle too, eh?

Unfortunately, the better team doesn't always win.
-
Exactly, he can't do it all himself. Especially when he's got a bulls-eye on his back. He's been one of the best players on the ice.

"even-up'd" Do they not teach grammar in Orange County schools?
-
Apparently you don't watch a whole lot of Ducks hockey games.
-
This is 100% correct. There should be absolutely no debate on this. Anyone who listens to Mickey and Ken knows this since they bring it up at least 5 times per season. As long as you have control of the puck, it's on side. Period.

I received the same feed with Uverse. (I was at the game but recorded it as well). This was DEFINITELY a mistake. I found it hilarious too... you can bet this won't happen again, someone screwed up big time and broadcasted the wrong feed from the truck. I was blown away that no one in their quality control caught this problem during the duration of the game. They had no idea. It's possible they still don't know it happened.

I feel like I should mention this (number three being most important)... 1.) The joker sitting next to us was a total tool and was yelling retarded stuff for most of the first period. Then gave us a bunch of s*** when the Ducks scored the first goal of the game. I gave a little back to him but realized he was such a moron, I gave up. He actually shut up and wasn't a jackass much longer. Props to him for realizing he was an idiot. 2.) I had an aisle seat and some A-hole walked past me to his seat while I was waiving goodbye to Hiller... He dumped a quarter of his mixed drink on me. He never looked at me and I was confused on whether he meant to or not. I think if he didn't mean it, he would have apologized. Either way, I was the top row of the lower bowl and I asked the usher if he had seen it. He said no but was chomping at the bit to go yell at the guy. I told him to forget it since he didn't see it. It was only a quarter of his drink and I was in good spirits since we chased Hiller. 3.) Some punks from a suite nailed me in the back of the head during the third period with a peanut (inside the shell). I actually had no idea who threw it but 5 minutes later a nice guy came down in a Ducks jersey and apologized saying that someone in his crew had thrown it and it wasn't cool. He bought my girlfriend and I a drink and kept apologizing saying, "that wasn't cool, that's not how we do it here. The least I can do is get you both a drink." Anyway, they are not all total jerks... I thought that was really cool of the guy to come out and say they did it since I had no idea.

I think the "intent to blow the whistle" really is a joke. If they'd just wake up, they could make it black and white and say, okay, let's review the goal and see if the audible sound of the whistle is heard before the puck crosses the line. Case closed... That way the ref is still part of the decision making process and game 3's goal actually counts even though it was a mistake to blow the whistle that early. They review every goal no matter what now anyway, so it's not going to make games four hours long.

1.) bloody nose given to you by FIVE 300 lb. guys, and a... 2.) broken thumb 3.) hospital visit 4.) all windows broken 5.) you NEVER LOOKED FOR A SECURITY GUARD, CALLED THE COPS, or HEADED BACK INTO THE HONDA CENTER TO ALERT THE AUTHORITIES?????? I'm not sure all of this adds up. If all 5 things did happen exactly how you said they did, then that is the most disturbing post-game event I'd ever heard of. It definitely seems that it didn't happen exactly the way you say. Common sense should have prevailed during step #5.

I think it was Andy Van Hellemond back in the mid-90s that screwed up a play really bad and then was removed as a ref for the remainder of the playoffs. This guy needs the same. I just don't get why an official would get a free pass for not doing his job. Yes it's all judgement calls and not black and white... but the playoffs is a different story, you need to perform and not cost a team the game.
-
say simple as that one more time... i can't get it enough. we're all dumb! we need you to put it simply for us!
-
thanks for putting "plain and simple" in there in bold... you really are einstein and we're all retards.
-
It's easy to lose sight of the puck... therefore there's another factor: body language. If the goalie acts like has the puck and you can't see it, blow the whistle... if the goalie is falling on his back while scrambling and you can't see the puck, why the hell would your first reaction be to blow the whistle? Never once did Hiller act like he had any idea where that puck was.
-
Not in the playoffs.
-
it's just like the rule in the NFL where the ref can deem a play un-reviewable because he decided the player was down by contact. It's bullcrap, but it's the way it is. I'm not sure what can be done... it's up to the ref to decide if the puck is frozen or not. This ref was 100% wrong and I'm not sure why he was so excited about blowing his pretty little whistle during a game of this magnitude. Never once did Hiller look like he knew where the puck was... what does that tell me? It's Loose!!!

The NHL playoffs are the real "happ... happiest time of the year" for me... if it were one minute shorter, I'd flip out. Cinderella teams are meant to be around... this is why the BCS doesn't work in college football. We all crave the playoffs. To think the MLB has done it right? Yikes, I'm glad you're not the commissioner. (Oh crap, don't take that as support for Bettman, it wasn't!)

I was betting we'd split with them in games 3 & 4 but was praying we'd win game 3 so I wouldn't have to go insane during game 4. I'm lucky enough to see both games live in person... If they aren't as pissed as we are and dominate the Ducks from the first second of game four, I will personally stop the Wings bus and ask for my $500 back.

SERIOUSLY! I see the media now the same way I see these jackass kids on shows like the Hills and Laguna Beach... total attention whores wanting everyone to look their direction. Apparently that's what their taught to do. I hate them.
-
I understand our frustration... but what you described is exactly what he's always been and exactly what we've grown to love. They are completely shutting down Hossa and (almost) Datsyuk right now. When that happens, blaming Holmstrom is really a moot point. I mean, how many 1st-line all-stars can we really have on the ice at once? Holmstrom serves his purpose well, we just need to get the puck to the net. Unfortunately for us, Anaheim's defence is extremely stingy... we have NOOOO room out there.
-
hey Dat's Sick... jinx. actually, you beat me to it. I'll concede... however, I'm pretty sure the referee blew the whistle before you hit "Add Reply" and therefore, I win and you lose even though you really should have won.
-
I agree with a lot of the OP's statements. I really like Hossa and I want him to stay, but I think it may be necessary to put Pavel and Hank back on the same line because we need some damn offence. Putting Val, Hoss, and Franzen on the second line is not a backbreaker whatsoever.

this is exactly right... because when the FANS are 100% focused and 100% positive while posting on LGW.com... the Red Wings will ALWAYS win. The fans opinions on these message boards really is the deciding factor on who wins and loses playoff hockey games. If we could just get all of you to be positive and become ditzy cheerleaders, the Wings will NEVER EVER lose. It's all about our posts on these forums. This is what hockey's all about. Get your act together posting red wings fans! Or get ready for a long, Cupless summer!
