I'm guessing an NHL team in Hamilton would mean Eastern Conference... so if a team, such as PHX, goes to Hamilton, there's just a little extra insurance that Detroit will stay in the challenging, elite conference (West). I would think C-bus / Nashville would move to the Eastern Conf. before we would anyhow.

So would Chelios... let's all sing his praises as well... Should we throw in Fisch, Downey, Meech, Ericsson, and Quincey? This thread is really odd to me. The guy is doing exactly what any hockey player should / would do. Osgood would have done the same... why is everyone so surprised. I just don't get it. There has been a backup for every game, for both teams, for the entire history of the league... I applaud ALL THE BACKUPS EVER TO PLAY A SINGLE GAME OF HOCKEY. You all rule! Yayyy! Except for the .00000001% of you that sulked while on the bench and didn't support your team. You suck.
-
we're applauding a guy for riding the bench now? These are hockey players, not B-ball / Football / Baseball whiners. I expect nothing less from Hasek... Ozzie was doing, and would have done the same thing.

I'm curious to what you thought of the officiating...?
-
I can't remember, is there still a penalty existing in the NHL rule book for this?

1.) the high-stick definitely had to be called... obviously. 2.) the Wings looked more tired than the Pens in the OTs. 3.) Fleury played the game of his life. (that is what MVP goalies are made of, but he has to do it two more times... or our goalie is MVP, ha) 4.) the Refs were absolutely awful. People say that there were infractions on both sides and both teams were getting away with it... if that's true, then how come the Pens were on more PPs than us??? The refs play a hand in every game, and it's fact that we had less PP opportunities, so they gave the Pens that advantage. I am extremely unhappy about it. It is one factor that shouldn't have been. These refs have totally sucked. All four points changed the face of the game... I can't complain about 1,2, and 3 because you have to hand the Pens props. But 4... oh point number 4. These refs are terrible and I'm sick of the Wings not having the equal number of PPs. If we get 2 or 3 more man advantages... we may have had the cup.

What is up with faceoff circle issues in this series?
pavyaz19 replied to YoungGuns1340's topic in General
I have definitely noticed this and it is driving me crazy... 1.) we are not winning nearly as many faceoffs... are the Pens that much better than us at draws? -on a sidenote, it seemed that neither team could win a faceoff in the offensive zone most of the time. 2.) seriously, how many times are the linesman going to steal the limelight and throw someone out of the circle just to get their mug on NBC ten extra times per night. Drop it fairly and / or just drop it right away instead of teasing both centers! Of course the Wings bite on it because we're not allowed to have our sticks down first at home, they tease, our stick goes down, thrown out. Super annoying. 3. Lastly, this all seems new. I mean, people get kicked out of faceoffs all year, but in the late rounds of these playoffs, it has been extremely magnified. Have Draper, Zetterberg, Cleary, and Filpulla been "CHEATING" at faceoffs all year and were never called on it before??? I find this hard to believe, but what other reason is there? -
so you're saying that you're not tired of the Pens being on more power plays than us even though the same amount of infractions are taking place per side?
-
I think Cheli would laugh his ass off at your comment that hosted the worlds "fresh legs" and "Cheli" in the same sentence. God I love that guy, I would love to see him back in the line-up but I don't think it's going to happen.
-
it gets old watching refs blow call after call... do you want the players to accept it and go their merry way? maybe we should ask Stevie this question. I think we all know the answer.
-
Look, if the Pens keep getting all the calls and ALL THE BOUNCES, then they have a good shot. But I think we're in pretty good shape. They gotta get lucky for three in a row. Let's see what happens with Gonchar, that may hurt them.

1. Will Lidstrom finish next season as a Norris Nominee? Nominee? with his reputation, yes... winner, no. 2. He finished the season with 27 goals, despite spending much of the season in the bottom 6. With a regular top six role, can Franzen score 40 goals? He can, but I don't see it happening. He's very up and down. 3. Will the Wings have a 100 point man? a 50 goal man? If yes, who? No, They have too much depth. Obviously Z and D have a good shot, but only if they stay on the same line. 4. Will a rookie defenseman find himself with a regular roster spot? If yes, who? yes, I feel Cheli, Lilja, and possibly Stuart will be gone. Quincy or Meech... most likely Meech. 5. Will Howard back-up Ozzie with a winning record and a good statistical showing? Yes, but I could too, our defense is sweet. 6. Out of Filppula, Samuelsson, and Hudler, who tallies the most points? Most goals? Filpulla in points, Hudler in goals. 7. Which Darren makes the top 13 forwards - McCarty, Helm or Both? Helm only. 8. Does Kopecky score either of 10 goals or 20 points? both right? at least 10 goals though. 9. His playoff scoring rate would equate to 54 points on a regular season. Can Niklas Kronwall break 50 points next regular season? Yes, if he stays healthy for at least 80% of the games. 10. Predict the number of Red Wing wins for next season, and their number of wins against Chicago ( ). 52 (5)

i feel he has a lot to learn, but heck yeah, he was fun to watch tonight. Stealing the puck like the big boys.
-
I can't take a game seven. I might not be able to watch it. And if I do, and the thing goes into OT... I will surely puke - hopefully only once.
-
simple answer: human nature. we all wanted to win, and we didn't, so we look for reasons why. same as anything else in life. it's our responsibility as fans, we're not paid cheerleaders. I still love our team so freaking much, but similar to my friend's and family, I get mad at them sometimes. By the way, IMO, we looked SUPER TIRED (rightfully so) in the late stages of 2OT and into 3OT. I thought the Pens looked much fresher.
-
very true, that dude played the game of his freaking life... props to him... yet, I still hate the refs so much. How a few little Power Plays would have changed the face of the game.
-
You are right, I am embarrassed. My new goal in life is to become an NHL coach so I can get paid to whine in press conferences like my hero Michelle Therien... then people like you won't make fun of me... waaaah.
-
That is fact that they did say that... BUT, I also work in the entertainment business and know that some things are said for certain reasons. Did that joker Pierre REALLY hear that??? Either way, come on, in the heat of battle, how could they not complain about the non-calls. But I'm talking about after the game... you're not going to hear the coaches or players complain. Now Pittsburgh staff on the other hand...
-
I see your point, but it's the fans that are complaining and the fans can't fire / promote him. You're not going to hear the coaching staff or management complaining, and they have the power to fire / promote. My point is... you're point is moot. Ozzie doesn't read these boards and we have no power, so he has no idea and is not put under duress.
-
hey, some think he had a bad game, we are commenting on it. He is still the MVP... MVPs are allowed to have a bad game... and fans are allowed to comment about it.
-
Yeah, so many turnovers, but Pitt forced most of them, they played better than we're used to. However, we still should have won, there were many other factors that played into this loss. I'd love nothing more to win the Cup in Detroit in 6 games... I guess I'm screwed, ha.
-
On some of the goals he's let in this post-season, he has looked lazy. Like out of position and doesn't hustle back. That drives me crazy. Other than that, I don't like him all that much, but he is totally our MVP, hands down. Two shutouts in the finals, insanity.
-
We lost the game and you're happy? Cool. We lost the game, and I'm upset.
-
you're stupid... if you wanna go be a cheerleader, go to sleep. We like to be fans and to be critical. I know Franzen knows what he did, and isn't happy about it, he will get it right next time. He has rocked in the playoffs and made a mistake. We, the fans, don't like mistakes because we cheer for our team and want our team to win. It's part of being a fan. Be a cheerleader somewhere else.
-
Sorry, do I sound like your insanely sweet coach and smelly little captain? At least our players aren't complaining, it's me, a fan. Go cry to your team.
