    Clutch, Grab, Trip?

Nothing "decides" the game. It's a team effort. It's not Ozzie's fault, it's not Franzen's fault... but each person on the ice plays a major role in the outcome. Tonight, the referees played a major role. They decided to put the whistles away except if a goalie was touched or blood was drawn by a stick. If they officiate the game like a real hockey game, the Wings are on the Power Play at least 3 times in OT... AT LEAST. So, did they decide it? no, but the term man-"advantage" is key. They gave the Pens the advantage... therefore, costing us major power play time and most likely the game.

    Clutch, Grab, Trip?

I wish I could be in the referee's lockerroom after the game. I imagine it going something like this... ref #1 "wow, that was a long one... good thing that little asian-looking guy caught our favorite team's player in the face... if there wasn't any blood, I may have drawn some criticism." ref #2 "Haha, what are you talking about? You know the B-man has your back... we made all the right calls in his mind... so we both still have a job, duh. Haha, criticism, pfff."

    Clutch, Grab, Trip?

Plus the phantom trip on Datsyuk early in the game... and the two goalie interference penalties were questionable. Maybe you call that in periods one or two, but not in overtime. I say this because, clearly tripping, punching in the back of the head, hooking, holding, and interference are not called in OT. Yet, magically, goalie interference is... even if you are forced into the goalie.

    I don't have the talent

With the shutdown D Nick plays, I wouldn't expect a very exciting video. How about a Datsyuk or Zetterberg highlight reel?

Questionable Story from "Blood Feud" ?

I've heard that story long ago, it's definitely true... however, keep in mind that bias comes into play since it's being told from an Avs writer. What I hear long ago was that Bowman cussed out Lemiuex in the parking lot in front of Lemieux's family. As far as baby in arms, and Lemiuex being super classy, that's where the bias comes in.

    What is a "shovel shot?"

okay, so you don't play hockey either... Shovel shot is similar to... swagger, pitchfork, walks it on, twists, shakes, forearm shiver, walls him, gotten, slung, 100 seconds left in the period... all completely idiotic terms that have nothing to do with hockey that that Jackass Emrick has come up with and uses to annoy the s*** out of real hockey fans.

    What is up with Stuart?!

I warned everyone on the trade deadline that picking up Stuart was a bad choice... have seen him make so many mistakes / giveaways here with the Kings. He's a master of bad decisions. He had an INCREDIBLE game during game 2, but game 3, he went back to his normal self. I hope we get rid of him this off-season. As for Kronwall not hitting much... has anyone else noticed that Pens are getting out of the way as soon as possible when he is on the ice and bearing down on them??? They know he is there, they feel his presence, and they are worried about getting drilled. I've seen it happen so many times... it's great because they fail to make the right play with the puck as the cower away. Even though he's not racking up the hits, he's accomplishing the same point.

    Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I always see her at Kings games, she sits down to the left of the Kings bench. I first saw her there with Milo V. and Hayden Panitierre from Heroes... Hayden didn't seem to be too thrilled to be there, she'd rather be saving the dolphins.

he played great in game two, but I'm no where near sold on him. He's made too many mistakes up until this point.

    Punch on Franzen?

this is when i wish the Wings would have reported Franzen's injury as a "lower-body injury" so the Pens wouldn't know his head was messed up. as a fan, it's fine with me, let me know once the playoffs are over what's actually wrong with him. teams should never have to declare the true injury because this intentional stuff will always happen.

for you to hear a true 7.1, the media your watching has to be created in 7.1... this means that there are 8 separate channels (or recordings) flowing at once. I'm not even sure full 7.1 truly exists in film / video audio. At least, not yet. For instance, I just grabbed some bluRay movies off the shelf, I tried to grab the biggest movies of the last 5 years. As you can imagine, it's bluRay, so it's 1080p, the best picture a consumer can purchase (until 4k discs come out, I'm guessing that'll be a while though, 10 years... however, 4k is here now on my $3,000 macPro computer... currently editing a Heineken commercial shot in 4k on the new "Red" camera). Anyway... King Kong, Pirates of the Car. 1, Spiderman 3, The Departed, and Nine Inch Nails concert DVD - Beside You In Time... and NONE OF THEM are 7.1, all are 5.1. So that means a unique audio stream is sent to all five channels (front-middle, left-front, right-front, back-left, back-right) and the 6th channel is the bass that rumbles your room. 7.1 includes unique channels that also run to middle-side-left, and middle-side-right. Since you can't even buy a bluRay disc that includes 7.1, I guarantee you will not hear true 7.1 except maybe in a movie theatre. In summary, if you own 7.1, the side speakers are simply merging two of your 5.1 channels into each of the middle-side speakers. Therefore, you may hear 7 different channels, but they are not all unique. Instead, it's a down-mix. edit: the best chance of hearing true 7.1 in the years to come is through video games. but even 360 and ps3 aren't there yet. I'm not completely sure they offer 5.1 since I just looked at the case for Grand Theft Auto 4 (the newest, biggest game ever) and Halo 3, neither of which made a point to say they are in 5.1. However, both 360 and ps3 definitely offer 5.1 when playing bluRay or HDdvds.

Best Buy must have told you that you needed a special HD antenna... THAT IS COMPLETELY FALSE. regular old rabbit ears work, see my above post. Also, the signal is better through the airwaves because the video does not need to be compressed nearly as much as it does for cable transmission. From my experience, satellite compression is lighter than cable, therefore, satellite is better. Either way, through the airwaves is best... but there's only so many frequencies.

    HDTV

yes, but you must have a TV with a digital tuner (if you have an HDTV that is no more than a few years old, chances are extremely good that it has a digital tuner built-in) and the channels are listed as channels with decimals. for instance, if you are in toledo, the normal analog channels are 11, 13, 24, and 36 which give you ntsc Standard Definition. But, if you have a digital tuner in your TV. Plug in your rabbit ears to that coax jack (regular cable jack on the back of your TV) and then have your TV search for channels. You'll see that channels such as 11, 13, 24, and 36 now have counterparts with decimals, such as 11, 11.1, 13, 13.1, 24, 24.2, 36, 36.1. You may even find some weather broadcasts at 11.2, 11.3, etc. Either way, you'll know right away when a channel is HD.

Japan invents "iceless" ice for skating rinks

if you've never skated on it then what makes you think you can't "power" stop on it? I was looking into buying this stuff about a year ago and talked to a lot of people and watched videos on the internet of people skating like normal, stopping like normal. The companies claim the synthetic ice is 90% the speed of real ice... Supposed to build up muscle similar to using a bat weight before batting in baseball.

CBC doesn't broadcast an HD signal through the airwaves like regular US networks (nbc, abc, cbs, fox, etc)??? I'm surprised... so yeah, there's another reason Best Buy sucks, they are trying to push "HD Antennas" which is BS because you can pick up the digital HD broadcasts with regular rabbit ears. NEVER BUY HD ANTENNAS!

I'm curious why the original poster is showing us a picture of a personal HD setup...? I don't understand. As for the cables, you act like the cables are very expensive to get an outstanding HD picture. Let me inform you on a little something I call, BEST BUY SUCKS ASS. Here's the deal, Best Buy and similar stores only stock the most expensive HDMI and component cables because they know YOU, the ordinary consumer, thinks that what you need. They are misinforming you and taking advantage of you. Here's a little comparison for you... HDMI cable Best buy $50+ newegg.com $10 or less RGB component cables... want to know a funny thing, these "special cables" are NO DIFFERENT than your current RCA (red, yellow, white) cables. They are the same exact thing! Just because a color is different doesn't mean anything. You could mix and match them all you want, just make sure the same color is going to the same color. For instance, you could do this... buy an RCA (red, yellow, white) cable for your HDTV and run the yellow cord from Green to Green, run the white cord from Blue to Blue, and run the red cord from Red to Red. Or you could even go crazy and run the yellow or white cable from Red to Red. It doesn't matter! They all are the same thing, just labeled by different colors. Mix and match all you want. DO NOT SPEND MONEY AT BEST BUY (or similar store) ON THE FOLLOWING... -HDMI cables (get them online and newegg.com or somewhere where they are priced at $10) -Monster RGB component cables (extreme rip-off which do not offer a better picture than normal RCA (red, yellow, white) cords. Buy RCA cables instead for as little as $5. -Never buy the gold-plated or other specialty RGB / COMPONENT / HDMI cables, period. GIMMICKS! Hopefully that helps at least one person out there save money! I actually work in TV / Film in Burbank and get pissed when companies like Best Buy completely mislead people. (on a side note, DVD up-convert players are a false gimmick as well, never spend more than $75 on a DVD player).
  22. I disagree with this. I love the Wings but will definitely call out player if they have done wrong. In my opinion, the majority of Kronwall's hits are clean. People think they are questionable because they are not standard body checks. Instead they are when the opposing player least expects it and therefore aren't in a balance position. When he makes contact, it's not always 100% square, so the other player is left in an awkward position, same as Kronwall, and body parts start flying. I'm assuming you think Kronwall's elbow came up on his first big hit of the playoffs against Nashville. You'd be right that his elbow came up, but if you watch the hit in slow motion, his elbow was tucked down against his side, as it should be, then when the two came apart after the collision, Kronwall's elbow came up. It was an illusion that it was an illegal hit when viewing the video at real-time. But, without a doubt, it was completely clean. As for other hits, again, the opposing player doesn't see it coming and can't prepare so they are left in an awkward, usually low position. When Kronwall comes it, it appears that he is hitting them high. Even though the hits are high, they are legal unless he's leaving his feet. And even in that case, whether it's Kronwall or not, most refs don't call the charging unless the player leaves his feet and drives the opposing player's head into the glass.

    Should we lose game 6....

don't fix what's not broken, the wings have other issues. Osgood isn't going to steal a game like Dom once could, but Dom could come in and straight up lose it for us like he has 2 other times this year.

    Downey or McCarty?

exactly... downey is worthless. You may not like that McCarty is older and slower, but he's still got the experience and the hockey mind that downey will never have. McCarty knows where to be and makes things happen. Yeah, he's not an all-star, never was, but even considering Downey is insane. what's with the coke addict thing? is that abdelkader?
