I'm not sure how many of you know about Sergei Samsonov's situation in Montreal. He is doing everything he can to get out. Montreal is also doing everything they can do to get rid of him without hurting them aswell. Also in the past I've noticed threads of talk of Samsonov being a perfect fit in Detroit, his family is here still from his days with the Detroit Vipers, and he has also I beleive mentioned wanting to play for the Red Wings. Everyone was talking about it before he got traded to Montreal from Edmonton, a lot of people on the forums thought it would work out and a lot of people also didn't want anything to do with him coming here stating he is "too small" and that we have to many small speedy fowards already. Once again I have brought up the subject. I beleive he would be awesome on our team, for many reasons. He is a top notch play maker and pure goal scorer. He had a bad year with Montreal yes but who didn't. I think he would be revived being in Detroit and show his magic that most of us know he is capable of. and the number one reason, Datsyuk and Samsonov play incredible together. Much like Pavel and Hank, but in a different good way. Anyone that has seen them play together will know what I'm talking about. Just was wondering what everyone elses thoughts were about him and I already know what some of you will say hes to small, washed up, this that. but keep in mind you were saying similar things about Dom last off season and look at what he did at his age none the less.

Well to start he scored 110 goals in 50 games with the Red Army junior team in 1994-95. This was prior to moving up to the Elite team later that season. He had 23 goals, 19 assists for a total of 42 points with 26 PIM in 64 career games with the Red Army elite team Well not that the IHL is was anything special, He led the Detroit Vipers to their first and only Turner Cup Championship his rookie season, also winning rookie of the year in the IHL that season, then the following season he signed with the Boston Bruins winning the Calder Memorial trophy Leagues BEST rookie. in 1997 he led the World Junior Russian team to a Bronze Medal and was named the tournament's most outstanding forward after scoring six goals in six games. He later played for Russia in 2002 at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, earning a bronze medal. and I believe before its all said and done he will win a Stanley Cup championship with hopefully Detroit. now that I've answered your question, maybe you can answer mine, What Have YOU Ever done??

The question of him being a natural goal scorer or not is a matter of opinion, I say he is a natural goal scorer, the guy is super underrated. I also believe he is one of gifted puck handlers in the league as well. No where close to Datsyuk but still way beyond the average NHL player. I'm not saying the guy would be a SUPER STAR but I know he would score 20+ goals and assist on many goals aswell. The new NHL is all about speed and this guy has it, sees the ice well can setup plays, and like I mentioned before, Clicks with Datsyuk's style of play like few others. If he comes cheap its a no brainer but if he wants a lot of course it would be a dumb move but Holland can get him cheap and he is another diamond in the rough in my mind. Lang is on the way out, we could almost get Kozlov and Samsonov for Lang's price tag. and get three times the amount of production, but we would lose the Size advantage three fold aswell.
-
I could see this happening possibly, however Kovalchuk and Kozlov have become close friends and the only other place I could see Slava going would be our team. Another Russian everyone is overlooking that we could possibly get cheap is Samsonov. He is looking for a way out of Montreal and fast, I'm willing to bet he would play for the Yotes just to leave, so maybe we sign Kozlov and Samsonov cheap.
-
You took the words out of my mouth. I think Slava would be a excellent fit on the team. and Fedorov for me is a no brainer as well. Feds will never happen but Kozlov on the other hand I can see that actually happening. The NEW Russian 5 will prevail. and the Cup of Lord Stanley shall be ours once more.

Not sure if this was posted yet or not, but for those who don't want to let this season die yet, the Detroit Free Press has collector cards, that come with every thursdays paper. Two have already been out, Card 1 was Zetterberg and Card 2 was Datsyuk.

Did anyone else think it was awesome that Arnold was at the game yesterday and dropped the puck. Such a cool guy, his movies crack me up.
-
I was thinking the same exact thing, Homer was such a dominate force, and we were firing on all cylinders that night we blew them out 5-0. Then after his hit he came back and the next game wasn't the same I didn't think. makes me wonder if he did have a minor concusion or something else going on?? Man was he a force that game, heres to a healthy and successful season next fall.

Pavel shook his Playoff rep this year 10 fold. I always knew what he was capable of doing, but we had a lot of people on the forums getting down on him and demanding trade. I ask all of you now do you still demand a trade??? I look forward to watching Pavel score many many more goals, Setting up many many more goals, and raising the cup, all while wearing a Wings jersey. Thanks for a great season Pavel, see you in September.

I am so proud of Pavel's efforts last night. He did all he could to try and win, He even had a Huge Check in the game as well. 2 road playoff goals in one period, wow. Everyone should be happy we are going to have this guy around for a long time and I'm super pumped about it. I can see Datsyuk and Zetterberg leading us to more than one Championship down the road. Awesome game Pavel, You never cease to Amaze me

I do the same thing, after everygame we have a team handshake. If the other team plays a hard fought game and beat us I gladly shake thier hand and congradulate them, if the other team beats us and they are dirty take cheap shots run their mouth, I simply skate off the ice with my head held high. If we win a game and the other team is dirty I will still skate off the ice without shaking their hands. I think it was the same thing with Cheli, hes lost a series before and shaked hands with the other team. Its not about winning or losing. Hands shakes are earned out of Respect for the other person, and The Duck's get NO respect, with maybe a exception of Selanne. Pronger HA, Fairy HA, that would be the day before I would shake dirty ass players like their hands and congradualte them. good for Cheli I support you 100%, If you've been in a similar situation you'll understand, everyone else will think Cheli was wrong in doing so. I however do not.

awesome effort last night I'm proud of the guys how they never panic and keep their heads up, they deserve better but oh well. Dom could have played a little better I think, and if we had started playing like we did in the 3rd period earlier we would have blew them out again. I'm not as upset by the loss as I thought I would be, I wanted them to win more than anything but atleast they lost with Class and went down fighting. Good Luck next years guys, I think we are far from done in the long run, Wings will win a cup in the near future, just like the upset exit in 1996, the year after we came out stronger and got things done. Just have to learn from this and a lot of our younger guys got some needed experierce in the playoffs, adversity, determination, they learned a lot for future playoff games. Go wings, I'll see you in training camp in September. Now lets all hope that Ottawa comes out and wins this thing. They have the heart and are a cleaner team than the Ducks so go luck to the Sens in the Finals.

this thread is so inspiring. LETS GO WINGS!!! We are behind you all the way

I just want to know 'HOW' Jiggy and the Ducks fans "Know" it was a Red Wings fan?? If you know who did it you could press charges, did they write go Wings in toilet paper writting or what? oh and trust me Duck's fans, if we were going to f'UC' k with someones' house on the Ducks it wouldn't be Jiggy, take a guess who it would be
-
This is it guys the moment of truth. I am feeling confident in our team as usual. Need to go out and get this win in Duck territory, should be a close game but they can pull it off, they are the Red Wings. No score prediction, Red Wings will play like a team, all together, and sacrifice everything to win. Good Luck Guys, Lets bring this one home. Go Wings
-
Did anyone else see this last night, they talked mostly about the World Championships and then the moron I forget his name, with the comb-over ask Steve a dumb question like "Since you being gone, don't hate me for asking but are the Red Wings better off without Steve Yzerman, and are they better than last year?" What a tool, Yzerman handled this question gracefully and moved on. what did you guys think if you seen the interview?? oh and was it just me or did he look awkwardly cramped inbetween "comb-over" and Kelley Hrudey?
-
thats a good point, I did realize we were losing a bunch of faceoffs last night, key ones too. Thats something we can improve on for next game, especially the Duck zone on a powerplay faceoffs, crucial to win to start the powerplay on the right foot.
-
??? The interview we are talking about was last night on CBC.
-
Stevie is awesome, he handles interviews so good, and you know he couldn't have been prepared for a question like that, he was all comfortable answering the world championship questions then out of nowhere the "BOMB" gets dropped and he handled it well. I hope he is behind the Wings bench someday.
-
I'll be there doing my best to cheer the team on and BOO Pronger the whole game, I'm confident the Wings will find a way to win. They are on a mission this year. Go Wings
