Another American about to win Tour de France
Cruiser008 replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in Other Sports
The latest news is that Landis's father-in-law committed suicide. Man cycling is like the WWE without the entertainment.... I don't know if it's more saddening or pathetic. -
Another American about to win Tour de France

This should be Floyd Landis' them song. They see me rollin' They hatin' Patrolling they tryin' to catch me ridin' dirty Tryin' to catch me ridin' dirty -
Gutsy effort by the Americans today to earn a draw. Not the most talented team but it's hard not to cheer their plucky determination.

Considering the Czechs are not known for their defense and were playing without their top striker (Baros), the USA was exceptionally.... underwhelming. It doesn't help that Americans have not caught onto world cup fever, but even then I have hard time believing that this squad was touted as the talented US team ever. Can't wait for Brazil's first match tomorrow. Watching the Seleção attack is like witnessing poetry in motion.

I also watched the first match of this tourney today. IMO Nadal really exploited Federer's backhand, and it's a lot easier to do so when you're a lefty (being a lefty myself I can attest to this). Federer needed to do the same but it's difficult to do when the vast majority of his opponents are right-handed including every other top 15 player not named Nadal.

Good god yes. If Holland is smart... and I'm not counting on it he will come to his senses and trade him instead of losing him for nothing next summer.

What a GREAT game! Simply an awesome display of defensive intensity and execution by the Pistons. Total TEAM EFFORT to neutralize the most complete player in the NBA today. Gotta give mad props to James though. The kid has a great attitude, plays unselfish basketball and is destined to become the face of the NBA for the next decade (You hear that Kobe?). Lookin' forward to another chapter in the budding Detroit/Miami rivalty. Once again (just like their matchup last year and Detroit/LA in 2004) it will be individual talent vs. teamwork and style vs substance. The Heat have got to be licking their chops though since the Pistons really had to get down and dirty against the Cavs and are a little banged up. However the Detroit thrives on adversity and still has one of the best defensive starting 5s in the history of the league. Should be an awesome series. Go Pistons! I totally agree. This has been one of the most exciting NBA playoffs in recent memory. We've already seen three great series (Cavs/Bulls, Lakers/Suns and Cavs/Pistons), with two even better (i.e. closer) series concluding tomorrow and hardly anything to separate the two pairs of combatants.

In a way I'm glad the NBA Playoffs aren't like the NHL version. I know I won't have to worry about any 'trap' or intensity letdowns; I can just sit back and enjoy one of the best 'TEAMS' professional sports has to offer.

Pistons broke the franchise record for wins today. Bravo!! P.S. Side note; it would have been nice to play Orlando in the first round. They've been easily the hottest team down the stretch. Howard is a BEAST and Darko seems to have been reborn.
-
Yup. Detroit has pretty much clinched home court throughout the playoffs. All they need to do is go 5-3 the rest of the way should be a piece a cake with these guys. Good thing too because home court is gonna be awfully handy against Miami and then San Antonio (assuming everything plays out according to form). Edit: great win on the road against Miami tonight!

They threw a syringe? LOL as long as it didn't have a needle.

Yup. Too bad the 'streak' is over.

Well after a terrific season in which he averaged a point a game and was Kitchener's best D-man, Kindl was invisible in the OHL playoffs as the heavily favoured Rangers were upset in the first round. In 5 games Kindl had one measly point and was a team worst -5.

Congratulations to Joe Dumars.... The classiest Piston of all is headed to the Hall!
-
Wow are the Pistons attempting to cruise or what? Down by 18 in the 3rd and then all of a sudden they decided they wanted to win the game after all. As I said in the Wings GDT.... let's start the playoffs already!
-
What the hell is wrong with Detroit's offence these days!? Here's one reason: WAY TOO many threes attempted! (Here are the # of 3's they've made and attempted the last 4 games) 3/17 9/26 6/22 7/24

Unreal! I've been in the office most of the day so no hoops action for me. But, they've knocked off three really solid programs so far. The odds will still be against them, but they've done it 3 of 5 times so far, no reason to see why they can't pull it off. With tourneys like this, you don't need to be the best team around to win it all throughout an entire season. You've got to play consistent ball throughout, no doubt about it, but if you catch fire near the end of the season with a record that might not be the greatest, anything can happen. Agreed.... With no on above 6'7" GMU is all heart. However they've yet to play against a talented AND cohesive unit, and that's about to change. I don't really care who wins at this point since my bracket was destroyed some long ago. GWU winning would be something else though.

Since no one has replied here is the answer: 1 and 35 are the number of starting lineups the coach of the team has utilized. Flip has used 1 and LARRY Brown has used 35(!!) btw Ugly win against the Pacers, but they got it done.

Who Do you want to play in the first Round
Cruiser008 replied to wingfanatic4alltime's topic in General
Mickey has a point, but...... I'll go with LA because their defense is atrocious; Our forwards would so torch them! -
I voted other and said Zetterberg.

Quick trivia question to the LGW faithful: 1 is to Flip as 35 is to _____?

I've never been high on Hudler, and this ranking certainly supports my view that we should trade Hudler while his value is still fairly high (esp. considering you have way too many smallish, skilled playmaking centers as it is).
