I'll just assume that was sarcasm. This is gonna be a looooong year.

Caught most of the Lions game at the bar in Toronto last night. Detroit was overmatched but wow Stafford and Megatron were sick! I don't watch much football and have never followed the Lions, but after last night I just might have to start watching them a bit more next year.

This is a HUGE story up here in Canada, and in fact the game tonight will be broadcast live coast-to-coast on CBC. Anyways on a personal note I'd like to say it's great to see Crosby return to the great game of hockey, but he's still a tool and I still hate his guts.

Puck Daddy chats with Pavel Datsyuk about injury rehab, Lidstrom and Holmstrom retiring, Red Wings realignment, NHL Awards Interesting interview as always. The one thing that concerns me is that his wrist is still not yet fully healed.
-
Truly the end of an era... he was the last of the grinders and one of my favourite Wings. Thanks for everything Drapes!
-
I have a feeling this year will be Lidstrom's swan song, so hopefully we'll the best defenseman of his era go out on top, raising the cup in June.
-
One of the most underrated, loyal, and down-to-earth guys around, and someone who epitomized what it meant to be a Red Wing. Thanks for everything Ozzie!
-
Man if the Canucks win the cup they've gotta be one of the worst champions ever... their GFA is a poultry 2.27 right now and they actually have a negative goal differential in these playoffs. If it wasn't for that unfortunate 3-game losing streak Detroit had at the end of April/beginning of May... *sigh*. I still think that series had the highest quality of hockey in these playoffs. The finals have NOT impressed me at all, and it's clear both teams are running on fumes.
-
Thanks for 4 great years Rafalski. We wouldn't have won the cup in '08 without you.
-
Just got back from the bar.... freakin' pumped right now; the comebacks in games 5 and 6 were so unexpected.
-
Disgusting, But In A Good Way Nice to see Datsyuk getting the recognition he deserves in national media.
-
My ideal scenario: LA comes back to beat the Sharks in 7 and Chicago wins game 7. Then we play a wary beat-up Hawks team that seriously lacks depth. Between SJ and Nashville I'd rather play the preds... there's less travel, Rinne has been very inconsistent and they are currently missing their top scorer in Martin Erat. At this point SJ is the biggest threat in the West (if not for Quick they'd be through already) and their PP would definitely 'cause massive problems with our PK.

The 'Fan of the Day' pic in Sydney is pretty awesome Amanda. That reminds me I really should bring my Wings jersey to my travels next time!
-
Damn that is full of win.
-
IMO Lids has been his usual self on the PP and PK but it's clear that his 5 on 5 play has slipped a bit. That said given that no one has really stood out I think that as long as I has a positive +/- at the end of the season he should be favoured for another Norris.

I've been to that Detroit Eatery. Great place for Wings fans to hang out every playoffs.
-
Great interview; thanks to the OP for posting!

I realise there's not a lot of love for tennis around here, but damn Djokovic is the best player in the world right now.
-
So the Pistons blew a 25 pt 3rd quarter lead at home against one of the weakest teams in the league tonight in Toronto.... this team is just an embarrassment to the franchise and the city right now.
-
Seriously we need to trade all 5 or these bums.... maybe Ben Wallace can stay but OMG that's depressing.
-
Not bad at all Jack... you look like you could do another 13.1 miles there!
-
Just watched his retirement presser. I thought it was interesting that he even thanked the media for the privilege of getting to speak in front of them... really shows the amount of respect he has for people (I mean what kind of athlete thanks the media??). In this era of inflated egos he really was the quintessential team-player, and while Maltby was blessed to be part of the Wings for 14 years Detroit was blessed to have him suit up for the Winged Wheel for 14 years too. Anyways all the best to Malts.

Great win... loved seeing the crowd so quiet in the 3rd and at the end after being so full of themselves during the pre-game. P.S. The most hilarious part of the ceremony was definitely seeing how few players were not part of the Hawks last year.
-
I hope we really motivated this year.... watching this ceremony (on Centre ice) is so gross.
