Ben is the heart and soul of our team and it certainly showed tonight. This is the biggest slump Detroit has had this season, although SA is having their own troubles right now, and Dallas has no playmaker so I don't really see them as too much of a threat. Well.... better now than in April I guess.

WRONG. Cross > Simpson (in our system) Cross > Brown (in our system) Cross > McCarthy (in our system) Cross > Rivers (in our system) Cross > Richardson (in our system)

Wrong. Cross had his best season in 03-04 with EDMONTON. Cross > Rivers because Cross can move the puck. Rivers can't. We CAN'T PICK UP PHYSICAL D-man for anything lower than a 2nd rounder because depth D-men who are physical CANNOT move the puck, and thus can't play for us since they would render the rest of the players less effective. That said Witt or Mitchell would have been IDEAL, but not worth the price.

It also needs to be said that we can't make the same deals other team make because (e.g. another team's 3rd rounder is always preferred to our 3rd rounder). That why the NHL should return to the snake draft!

It's true that Cross hardly played in Pittsburgh, but then again Samuelson also had trouble cracked the vaunted Penguins roster. Cross had his best season in 03-04 as the #4 D-man on Edmonton. This year he has struggled with injuries, but if he is healthy he could be similar to Lilja. Totally indifferent on the deal.

Darko update! There are completely conflicting reports of his progress in Orlando (two articles from today). Milicic still has a lot to prove This sounds like the Darko we all know. However... The Second Coming of Darko This sounds like the Darko Dumars saw when we drafted him.

An 18-0 run!?!? Wow that IS cause for concern. I agree that Prince looks tired; surprizing since he was the only Piston who had the All-Star break. Sheed is taking WAY too many threes. Who does he think he is? Donyell Marshall? We need to start pounding the ball inside again, because this perimeter game is not gonna cut it against the San Antonios and Dallas's of the league. This team's play right now is a far cry from their dominant performance in the paint against (ironically) the Lakers in 2004.

Hardly surprising. The 'stons were actually playing b-ball out there (like they did back in the 80s) while the rest of the club was hot-doggin' it as usual. P.S. Pierce would look awfully good in Pistons blue.

As a Canadian my memorable moment of the Salt Lake games was Canada's hockey victory, but for events not involving Canadians Bradury's gold medal 'performance' has to rank up there. Hey when your name enters everyday slang (e.g. I pulled a Bradbury) you know you've done something special. Guys like him give hope to the average folks out there.
