What a dirty a**hole... I say an eye for an eye, a knee for a knee. (I know it's the preseason; just trying to get my spirited fan-dom back after a long off-season )

Mount Puckmore: The four faces of the Detroit Red Wings
Cruiser008 replied to jeff48109's topic in General
Good choices; well written article -
Definitely my favourite part of the presser.
-
It's officially at $59.4 million (could someone update the title?) Haven't been this interested in hockey since Franzen's 6 pt night; interested to see if Dats can win the Byng tonight as well.

Didn't watch more than a few minutes of the entire SCF but just saw the Youtube clip. I dunno man; I thought it was kind of a sweet moment.

Looks like next year is the last hurrah.
-
Can't argue with those reasons that's for sure.

Zing! In fairness I'm sad to see Stevie go (and wish he could've stayed a couple more year) but Tampa being out of the spotlight and having low expectations is a good situation for him to take the next step in his career progression. Since the Detroit GM job is far more prestigious and sought-after he could still come back to us in the future.

Glad to hear you're better Matt!
-
Probably not the best news for the Red Wings brass but I suppose I can understand Pavel's decision after disappointments in both the Olympics and the League.
-
Get well soon Matt!

DAMMIT! I was really hoping at least one adversary in the East that would be able to challenge the Pens, but none of the other 3 teams remaining have better than a .500 record. There's a pretty good chance Crosby and Malkin will get back to the SCF without too much difficulty while the 4 Western Conference teams beat the crap out of each other.

Well this was a strange series but when push came to shove the victors were still the DRW. I know it's only round 1 but winning Game 7 on the road is definitely worth celebrating! P.S. That second period was flat out the best 20 minutes of hockey this year!
-
It's true. I don't hate the Coyotes, I wish Doan was on our team and I will be cheering the winner of this series against San Jose no matter what the outcome.
-
Wooooo!! Well that was entertaining!
-
Some serious interference by the 'yotes there during that last sequence; how the hell did they get away with that!?
-
That had to be the most enjoyable game thus far this season. I had to reluctantly cheer for Crosby during the Olympics but I'm so freakin' glad I can wish pain and suffering upon his whiny little a** again. P.S. Jimmah!! Mad props man, mad props.

I love this post!

It IS kind of crazy that Sammy has 30 goals and no one on the Wings has more than 20.

These are just too funny The Best of "Chris Chelios is so old . . . "

Agreed that's an excellent read. We might not be where we want to be right as far as the standings, but Babcock is truly first class and I'm glad he's on our side.

When Canada won in 2002 Gretzky got a lot of credit. So I think Yzerman, who I truly felt picked the best 20 players from a ridiculously stacked list of candidates should get some credit for building this team as well. Then there's Babcock, and while he's had some Wings tune out (Leino anyone?) this season his calming influence on a occasionally erratic (panicky) Team Canada can not be understated. Congrats to both! P.S. 'grats to Kenny Holland as well!

I'm so torn. I hated Crosby so much. But watching the impromptu celebrations in the streets all across Canada tonight, and participating in one in downtown Toronto, you come to realize how much that goal meant to the country. I hope you guys (esp. American Wings fans) can understand this, and yes, Sidney Crosby has absolutely earned my respect.

2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)
Cruiser008 replied to redwings8831's topic in General
Great game and a total contrast in style with Canada's size and strength vs the Americans' speed. Great to see Rafa step it up. USA really laid it all out on the line in those last 5 minutes and that empty netter was pure heart. No much Babcock could do though; the SJ foursome choked big time and Crosby was a disgrace as usual. Can't wait for the Canada/Russia QF in Wed. night, assuming the home team doesn't choke massively against Germany. -
