Yeah same here; I'm not really much of a boxin fan but Pacman is pretty freakin' awesome.
-
I haven't watched every game but of the ones I've seen this was (esp. given all the injuries) the best they've played all year.
-
I got his autograph a couple years back at the NHL Awards show in Toronto. Too bad the show's in Vegas now and will be for the next couple of years.
-
The back problems are certainly a valid point, and Bertuzzi has had his fair share of crosschecks (culprits include Chelios). I guess as long as he saves his aggression for the playoffs I can live with it.
-
But people didn't get personnally insulted for saying Ozzie sucked last year, or for trademarking Lang and Lazy etc...! It's ok I know people get upset and need to let off some steam when our team gets their butts hand to them.
-
Holy jeepers overreacting a little are we? I didn't know this lifelong fan was such a '5 year old'... I'm simply stating that Bertuzzi hits less than any player on the Wings, and that includes at least 4 guys who are making under $1 million.

Wow this is a tough one Selanne Bure Sundin Sakic St. Louis

I don't see us being very consistent this year, and to be honest I don't have any expectations this season either. IMO in the cap world it's incredibly difficult for a team to stay on top (or near the top) every year (unless you suck horribly for half a decade). With guys like Filppula and Leino taking on key roles and the next generation of Red Wings like Ericsson, Helm and Abdelkader finally getting ice time I feel like (dare I say it) this is a bit of a rebuilding year. It'd be nice to see them playing in June again but I just don't quite have the same cup-or-bust outlook this season.

THIS. He doesn't check anymore, period. He may not be a lazy bum but he is softer than cream puffs. Bertuzzi is soft and he blows

Sporting News' NHL Player of the Decade: Nicklas Lidstrom, D, Red Wings Well deserved!

I dunno what the sentiment is among the rest of the people here at LGW, but I'm still not over last season's SCF. The cynic in me thinks that the league tried everything they could to hand over the cup to Pittsburgh on a silver platter, from moving the series up a week to not suspending Malkin for instigating a fight at the end of Game 2. Now all the hockey preview magazines seem to have Crosby (or occasionally Malkin) on the cover which is an instant turn-off. What's more all the Penguin-love disgusts me given the fact that they just may be the most undeserving Stanley Cup champion in the history of hockey (since they were essentially gifted all those 1st and 2nd overall picks, 4 of them, due to sucking so badly for so long). Yesterday I was watching the Leafs broadcast (I live around Toronto) and they said that the Leafs hosting the stanley cup champions and for a split second there I was like whoa Detroit?! Then my mind snapped back to reality and I had to change the channel. Rant over

It was an ATV tour of Whistler actually.... well worth it!

I'd like to see Sundin.

In interesting stat that points to a lack of urgency during these playoffs; out of the 23 playoff games Detroit gave up the first goal 12 times. Amazingly they came back in 5 of those games, but playing from behind is a tough way to win hockey games, and you can only go to the well so often.

The way I see it, many of the Wings certainly left it all on the ice, but there were definitely a couple IMO that didn't have the consistency we saw from pretty much the WHOLE team last year. - Samuelsson - Hudler - Hossa - Holmstrom We were supposed to have the deepest set of forwards in the league but these 4 guys (despite being relatively healthy) disappeared in the finals. And on D with Lidstrom and Rafalski at ~70% Kronwall had the chance to prove that he was not just a bigger hitter, but an elite D-men in this league. Instead he took some awful and untimely penalties in the finals and generally had a subpar playoffs.

Anything can happen now.

Game 6 was Hossa's chance to show Pittsburgh why he left them; what an EPIC FAIL.

Just saw the video; that gave me goosebumps. -
Joined LGW in July, 2002 so it's been almost 7 years. Much thanks to Matt and the Mods for keeping this corner the best Wings site, and one of the coolest places on the 'net period!
-
He would have chewed up Campbell ('s soup) for that ill'advised pass in OT of Game 2, that's for sure.
-
That was pretty hilarious!

Gotta give a shout-out to the boys from my hometown. Congrats to the Windsor Spitfires; what a run it was!

Sounds about right, plus as others have pointed out he had a word with the trainer at the end of the 2nd period.
