We'll probably break up DZH line. We cant have one scoring line in the playoffs. If we split them up we could easily make nearly 3 scoring lines. Lang has historically produced well in the playoffs and would make an awesome 3rd line center. Or even put him on the wing with someone; anyone know what his stance is on playing the wing?

Hudler has been doing pretty good lately. Some of you need to tone down your manlove for Filp. He's been awesome, but he's knocked off the puck about every second he tries to dipsy doodle around defensemen. Hudlers got 5G 6A in the last month. Filp's got 2/2. If Bert comes back, I think we should maybe bench Filp for the first two games. If Cleary and/or Sammy don't become the next coming of Gretzky in the playoffs bench one of them. Cleary hasnt been putting anything up for a while and Sammy can have a chance because of his last game.

Wow, I like these lines a lot that someone posted: Filppula-Dats-Bert Franzen-Z-Homer Hudler-Lang-Calder Maltby-Draper-Cleary/Samuelsson We all of a sudden have potentially 3 scoring lines. Hudler's more of the goal scorer and probably should be with Dats. Hudler-Dats-Bert(Line 1a) Franzen-Z-Homer(Line 1b Filp-Lang-Calder(Line 2) Maltby-Draper-Cleary/Samuelsson(Line 3) Or maybe put Franzen & Calder together on the 3rd. It seemed like they were developing some chemistry in the first few games..

Mac's old and barely even plays this season. You guys are gonna see him what, 4 minutes a game? Prepare for dissappointment. Iggy because he's the definition of everything this Wings team needs.

Iggy. I want HIM IN DA WHEEL

Wow, my grandma could have saved that goal by Donovan near the middle..

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=298716 April 9, NHL.com: "I don't think he'll be here long. He's got so much talent,'' said Griffins defenseman Brad Norton. "I think he's like a poor man's Chris Pronger. He's a European who can play the North American style.'' ... "He plays hard. He plays mean. Some games, he's a monster. He throws guys around,'' Norton said. ... "If you watched him, you wouldn't know he's been a forward before. It just takes him a second or two to read the situation because of his inexperience,'' [Griffins coach Greg] Ireland said. "He was never in a situation where he got a lot of playing time over there (in Sweden). He fights confidence sometimes. He tries to do so much. With him, it's making sure he doesn't keep re-living the last play.'' Sounds awesome & willing!

I want him in the wheel

Ok, I fixed my calculations and with this roster we'd be at $48.136: Homer - Z - Datsyuk Hartnell(3) - Filppula - Bertuzzi(4.5) Hudler(1) - Cleary - Sammy Franzen - Draper - Calder(2) Kopecky Lidstrom - Kronwall Schneider(3.5) - Sarich(2) Lebda - Chelios(.85) Lilja Hasek(1) Osgood We could also send down/buy out Lilja and bring up someone to save some $. Lilja hasnt been playing as bad as some say, but we could get someone cheaper and younger who can benefit from the minutes better. How do buyouts/waivers work with cap hits? Is there a cap hit if we waive him before the season? Bring Kindl/someone up to take Lilja's spot who could get some good minutes. Since, between Kronwall, Chelios & Schneider we wont always have a 100% D. If we were to get Sarich he would also be WAY more durable than Markov and arguably better. I think most of the contracts I assigned to players are possible. Bert hasnt played all season barely. Hartnell hasnt shown THAT much in the NHL and $2mill raise for him would probably be sufficient. Cheli can get his .850 contract again. The only ones I dont know about are Schneider & Hasek... Would Schneider ask for more than 3.5? When was his 3,3 contract signed? It seems pretty dang low. Also, is Hasek gonna ask for a big pay day after this year's performance, even though he's almost as old as Cheli?? (sorry for double post)
-
Frickkkkk I may miss Game 1 & 2. I'm going to be pissed if we get bounced in the first EVEN more now.
-
1. Why would Sarich cost more? I dont know much about him, but his stats arent different than last years and he isnt getting any younger. 2. I did forget about Calder, but if we couldnt fit him in w/Hartnell I'd take Hartnell in a heartbeat. Hartnell's only getting better and brings more to the table than Calder.
-
Well, it all depends on how far the cap rises. With this lineup: Homer - Z - Datsyuk Hartnell(3) - Filppula - Bertuzzi(4.5) Hudler(1) - Cleary - Sammy Franzen - Draper - Kopecky(.8) Lidstrom - Kronwall Schneider(3.5) - Sarich(2) Lebda - Chelios(.85) Lilja Hasek(1) Osgood We're at around ~$45mill. I think I got a few cap hits wrong by a bit, but it would be around there. And I overpayed Hudler and Kopecky by a bit for good measure, too. Might have to give Sarich & Hasek a bit more, but it would still probably be in the $47mill range at most with all things considered. We could always get rid of Lilja and bring up someone to save a bit of $$ from his $1mill contract, too.
-
Why does Hartnell = no Bert? The more power forwards the better. Hartnell hasnt really shown that "much" and could probably be had for $3mill. If we replace Markov/Schneider with some prospects/Sarich($2mill) we should be able to get Bert and Hartnell under the cap, I'm sure. We really don't have much of a 2nd line and Hartnell would create a bonafide 2nd line with Hartnell, Bert and whoever on center.

Hart Memorial Trophy:Sidney Crosby James Norris Memorial Trophy:Nicklas Lidstrom/ Calder Memorial Trophy: Evgeni Malkin Vezina Trophy: Martin Brouder Lady Byng Memorial Trophy: Pavel Datsyuk Frank J.Selke Trophy: Pahlsson

Isnt this a little late? I think we lost his rights last June, since we didnt sign him.. He hasnt been on RWC since last June. EDIT: Yep, he's been gone since last June... http://www.redwingscentral.com/stories/200...neSignings.html I'm sure they wanted to keep his size as much as the next guy, but if that's what Florida wanted, what ya gonna do? Bertuzzi for Shawn is a pretty damn good deal.
-
He got a pretty good hit on Sharp's jaw.. Announcers were jackin off about that for a while..
-
No one knows what the cap will be or what the contracts will end up like... Settle down, we're just putting some ideas out. What do you guys think about getting Sarich and/or Hartnell?
-
Bonafide power forward for a possible(low chance) power forward.. Hm.. Shawn's probably going to look pretty good in the juniors, since half of them are 5'9"..
-
Yeah, you all remember we lose a 2nd rounder if we resign Bert, too... Right? We better be in the market for a power forward(s) before resigning Bert. Nothing against Bert, but there are plenty of power forwards who are similiar/better that could be available next year without giving up a 2nd rounder.
-
Maybe not Hamrlik/Schneider, but Markov really doesnt bring much to the table and Sarich/Hamrlik would be much better choices than Markov. Hamrlik's also getting 25 minutes a game and could be a good partner for Lidstrom. It all depends on Schneider's contract though.
-
Wow, you guys act like little girls. They're adult hockey players. Wow, a middle finger. I'm sure the Blues werent too offended and wont lose too much sleep. Good thing the Wings never have a relatively tough or mean player on their team ever - you guys wouldnt be able to take that.
-
No one even wants to sign any new people? You're really content with this roster? I'd take Sarich/Hamrlik over Markov/Schneider any day. We also should probably get a bonafide 2nd liner.
-
Wow - it's going up that much? Well, add Calder for maybe 2mill (what you guys think?) and put Kopecky as 13th or something. Also, the only way I want Bert back is if: 1. He dominates playoffs 2. There arent any other alternatives to take his spot I really dont want to lose a 2nd rounder just to resign him. He's been awesome and everything this team needs, but if we can get someone else to fill that niche we have to take it. EDIT: That's what Cleary and Lilja are actually locked up for next season
-
I'd love to have Bert back as much as the next guy, but you guys gotta think about the 2nd round conditional pick that Florida will get if we resign. If there's no free agents/trades that cant be done to fill Berts role, then sign him for sure. But, we gotta look at other options to possibly keep the 2nd rounder. We seem to do pretty good with our 2nd rounders, anyways.
