Extensions for everyone! Niklas Hjalmarsson gets 5-year
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Opie's topic in General
Kronwalls deal looks unbelievable now. It's a good price for Hjalmarsson based on the market, but only 650k more for Kronners deal is stellar. -
I recently re-watched this on youtube the other day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2k3qEnTlz8 It's been so long he's been out, I forgot what a force of a defensive center he was developing into. I hope he can get back to 100% and back to playing to his capability, his hands may never be the greatest, but with his drive, fire for the game and speed he brings, I know he'll add a ton to our current line-up.

He used to get flack when he didn't deserve it from 06-09, now he's old and washed up with a horrible contract. It is Hollands mistake and obviously Sammy wouldn't say no to getting that kind of money, doesn't change the fact if we have to move a younger energy guy like Tootoo or Eaves that we'll be even softer. I don't believe the notion we're going to get pushed around in the East, but the more energy guys the better. And before someone says it, no, Samuelsson at 6'2 does not provide energy anymore. This isn't 08, and I can't wait for this guy to be gone from the Winged Wheel.

Signed Wings sign Nyquist to 2-year, $1.9m deal ($950k/yr cap hit)

Great price. Holland did a great job with the RFA signings, now somehow get rid of Sammy and I'll start drinking the kool aid again -
Who do we Unload, reload on before the season starts?

I'd hate to see Tootoo and Eaves who provide physical spark and energy moved, and then have Emmerton and Sammy stick around. Hopefully Kenny can pull a rabbit out of his hat. -
Signed Joakim Andersson re-signs, 2yrs, $1.465m ($732,500k cap hit)
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Ram's topic in General
Andersson is the closest thing we'll find like Sami Pahlsson in his prime, and if we can slide him in as our 4th line pivot that gives us great depth. He's a big man, great on draws, decent offensive production, not overly physical but can crash and bang. Emmerton works hard, but isn't very good at anything in particular. He's expendable, big time. Plus in another world, we took Lucic in his slot in the 06 draft and he was never a Red Wing at all -
Joe Pavelski re-resigned 5 years / 30 million

Canucks and Sharks games will continue to embarrass the league for years to come! The new Pacific division will lead the league in embellishment. -
Stamkos-Crosby-St. Louis Tavares-Toews-Giroux Staal-Bergeron-Richards Hall-Getzlaf-Perry Couture/Nash I think Canada will want speed and 2-way play, which is a big reason I don't think Nash will play. He's regressed a lot since 2010. Doughty-Weber Keith-Seabrook Pietrangelo-Subban Letang/(Hamhuis/Bouwmeester) Same deal, have to be able to play D. Subban plays over Letang, Letangs in zone defense is atrocious. I also think whoever has the better first half of 2013 between Hamhuis and Bouwmeester will make the roster because there lefties. Luongo Price Crawford Lou's got the experience, Price was great last season until he melted down late in the season, I don't really like Crawford but the dude just won the Cup and he'll be playing behind a similar Chicago team in a weaker division. He'll be there.

Get er done Kenny

signed Brendan Smith signs 2-year, $2.525m contract with Red Wings
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Matt's topic in General
Good term, great money. Really like Smith, and hope he can mature, slow the game down and grow into what we all believe he can be. Oh and smashing some faces here and there isn't bad either -
Always liked Meech. Got to see him quite a bit here in St John's the past 2 years, great guy. Wish him only the best.
-
Hopefully Samuelsson and Emmerton. I'd like to keep Eaves and Tootoo.
-
Now this is a good signing. I'll have to learn to love Alfie I guess.. but won't be hard to like Weiss. Good Canadian boy!
-
One thing I really don't like about it, we're gonna be really soft, barring other moves. And we're gonna have targets on our back in our own division. Toronto, Alfredsson's arch enemies since he was drafted. Boston, a team he apparently spurned to sign with us. And of course, Ottawa, the team where he is a legend. Can't judge it today, we'll see how this works next spring.
-
Waste of money, waste of time. What a joke.
-
Modano, Bertuzzi, Samuelsson, Alfredsson. Nope, starting to look like a retirement home. I just gotta hope Boston goes harder after him.
-
He's never gonna learn. Why Alfredsson? Pay extra for Brunner, roll with the kids, don't sign anyone for frig sakes, but please no more 40 year olds.
-
Bruce Garrioch @SunGarrioch 1m Sources say Daniel Alfredsson has informed the Senators he will not be returning to Ottawa. He will sign with BOS or DET #Sens #ottnews
-
If we sign Alfie, I'm gonna f***in flip. Everything we don't need! Small, soft, old.
-
Get er done Kenny. He'll "keep the flies off" for Babs.
-
If Samuelsson suits up for the Wings in our opening day line-up this fall, I just don't know where Kenny's head is at. The guy can't play anymore, he showed that. He's washed up, overpaid and is a bum. I'd rather have us re-sign Darryl Bootland and put him on Datsyuks line to "play heavy" and "create space" then have Sammy as the god damn 13th forward.
-
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 2m I think Weiss would be No. 1 option for Detroit but Bozak in there as well.. Wings still talking to Fil as well... Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 1m Lots of teams reached out on Alfredsson and while Boston is most aggressive, Detroit was among teams that also called (Swedish connections)
-
Ference at 3.5 would be nice, but I feel like Ansar is lowballing his value. I like Weiss, but for 4.5 or 5 on a long term deal? I dunno about that one.
-
Kindl showed signs in the playoffs of becoming a decent PP quarterback, getting shots through and making smart passes. Wouldn't mind him playing the left point on the #1 PP.
-
Buyout Sammy. Deal with him disputing it, he has no spot on this team, and hasn't since the 09 season. The fact he was ever brought back was a farce, and now it's time to say goodbye and never see #37 again. If NO free agents are added, and Sammy, Cleary and Bert are all on the team come the fall, then I have a problem with Ken Holland at the helm of this team. I'd love to hear Babs honest thoughts on Kennys FA signings since Marian Hossa, I'm sure it'd be interesting dialogue even though we'll never know.
