Babcock named Head Coach for Canada at Sochi Olympics
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to under_par_00's topic in General
He was at the Olympic selections camp in August 2009 in Calgary Safe to say he won't be there this time. Good for Babs, right man for the job. Confident he'll get the job done again. -
To win in the "New NHL", you have to build from within and make smart, affordable additions in FA. Any team that breaks the bank, or the prospect pool, open to trade for Malkin better have a good core in place or it wouldn't make a ton of sense. Plus, the KHL will be sniffing at him heavily before it's all said and done. One of the teams in Russia, if he makes it to FA at some point, would definitely be willing to offer 15mil a year like what was rumored. No normal human, let alone a Russian forward, could say no to that to stay in the NHL, especially since he already has a ring.

INSANE grand rapids roster next season full of prospects
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
The next few years in Grand Rapids will be good ones. Our top prospects are finally ready to play in the minors, yes they'll be their for a while, but that's all for the better. The future is bright, Jurco-Jarnkrok-Pulkinen would be a deadly top unit next year. -
I doubt they'll buy him out this season. Probably after next though, to avoid how killer the last few years of his contract are.

ECF - (4) Boston Bruins vs. (1) Pittsburgh Penguins
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Iginla is a great player, respected around the hockey world, and I lived in Calgary for a long time and know he's a great person. But he made the f*** up of a lifetime by spurning the Bruins and asking to go to Pittsburgh instead. Hopefully LA can come back and beat Chicago and the finals can be 2 hard working teams, instead of talent laden whiners. -
Great for the Griffs. Seriously though, listening to that interview with Blashill, he is a friggin Babcock clone I don't think any players development this year has excited me more then Jurco. He had an up and down regular season, but other then Tatar and Mrazek, he's been the Griffins best player in the postseason. He could be that next top flight winger that were looking for.

Plus it doesn't hurt to have a Newf on the team, eh by?

Impressive numbers for dealing with injuries. Way to be Dano! Pretty surprised Pavel wasn't injured, he just didn't look himself most of the series against Chicago. The Kronwall injury is no surprise either, played pretty well considering.

I think the way he finished the regular season is good for us. We'll get him at a discounted rate compared to what we probably would've had to pay if he'd kept up his torrid pace. 3yrs at anywhere from 2.2-2.8 works for me. He's only going to get better.

I don't think Kenny is going to outright come out and talk about compliance buyouts as soon as were eliminated. But if he keeps Samuelsson around... I'll have to rethink how I view Kenny. There, unquestionably, is no room for Sammy here or in GR. He's done. Can't stay healthy, and can't play when healthy.

Go Tigers. Go Lions. If the Hawks and Pens end up in the finals, safe to say I won't remember 2013 for much other then the lockout.
-
Pretty sure it was Nyquist, Andersson, DeKeyser and Lashoff. Obviously Lash is down there now, I'd expect the other 3 to go down and help out, god knows they'll be hungry. Not sure what DeKeyser's status is right now, but even just going down and practicing would be good for him.

for positivity. My heart is still in my stomach, but all in all it was a fabulous season for development of our guys. And with alot more kids on the way, the future in bright. Next year the Wings win the Cup as an Eastern Conference team... hopefully beating the bastards that ended our stay in the West tonight!
-
If Dano will take a reduced salary (reduced..) I'd like him back. But he's the only one of the veterans who I'd bring back, because he showed some heart and got some results. Let Fil go, buyout Sammy, get a healthy Helm and DeKeyser back. Continue the growth from within, I'd love to see a guy like Clarkson brought in, but the season just ended. We'll see what unfolds.

I feel for Jimmy. He's finally established himself as an elite goalie that can get the job done, and the only 2 goals that beat him are off a 3on1 and a ******* deflection. Makes me sick, the hockey gods can go to f*** here tonight. -

That was a penalty on Bolland. Clearly. Pavel Datsyuk, if you're not injured, I'm ******* disgusted with you. -

I haven't cried in many a year, but to lose this, the water works might get going. What a game, what a series. -

I'm gonna have a heart attack, or throw up... or both. This is down to the wire more then I can remember any important game in recent history. -

Zetterberg is playing like a leader. Datsyuk is not, if he turns it up, we can win this game in regulation. He just has to get going, he has too. -

20 minutes left in the season unless the big boys get going. Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Franzen HAVE to be better. No excuses, Jimmy is giving us every chance to win this game. -
Good coach, but too big of an arsehole for players to deal with for long. With Torts gone, and Richards likely to follow suit in the offseason, it'll be a different type of Rangers team next year.
