This is nuts. Guys just keep on dropping. That's alright, just fire up the ole Xbox and put Subban on the Wings roster and feel better about this season...

Howard played great, Brunner impressed again. Bert, Helm, and E back friday with a bit of rest and back at it. Sooner or later the Wings have to shake the rust and start getting wins in regulation.

We finally get a guy who fights, hits like a maniac, will protect Datsyuk and Zetterberg no matter the size of the guy going after them, can skate, pass and shoot, and now here we are. People actually complaining about this player because Babs didn't play him more? Babs has had a barely two weeks to work with Tootoo, and it's the second game of the year. Of course he'll play guys like Miller and Abby more, he trusts those guys because he knows them better. Give him time, if by game 20 your still hating on Tootoo or questioning what he brings to the team... well I'm not sure what i'll tell ya, because I'll all but guarantee he'll be a fan favorite soon enough.

Well, at least he's big and Canadian and has played for the Ducks and Sharks so he can't be that soft. Block some shots, get the puck out and don't take long shifts. The less noticed Huskins is the better.

Injuries mounting already. Helm, Bertuzzi, Mursak, Ericsson, Gustavsson. Not a good thing, especially given how we started the season off.

Just got game center set up on the Xbox, ready for a great day of hockey. Go Wings!!!

Don't like having Helm and Bert out to start the year. Wanted to have the full bottom 6 ready to go because they were gonna be fun to watch. Get healthy soon bys.

Actually, he played on St Louis' top pair with Pietrangelo last season in St Louis. The guy is a very good player when he can stay on the ice, as far as comparisons to Stewie, based on last season, as long as he isn't flat out dreadful, he'll be better. Overall we'll have to wait and see, but Stewie had checked out by midseason last year.

No thanks to Redden. I hope he finds a team and can play in the league, but not for us. Let our defense play, if were going to contend then Ericsson, Smith, Quincey and Kronwall all need to step up. White and Colaiacovo need to play like there capable of, and I think we'll be fine. This isn't the star studded defense of old, but it's not some terrible Toronto Maple Leafs backline like fanboy bloggers like Ryan Lambert want people to believe. Lets get the season going, see what we got and go from there.

Fun game to watch. Very excited for Brunner, Smith, Tootoo and Colaiacovo. Looking forward to Saturday.

I hope Tootoo hammers Backes to start the game, send a message that the team is different this year. Then let Z and D go to work, I'm actually quite excited for the shortened season. Lets see where we stand without Nick Lidstrom and a more gritty lineup.

In a playoff atmosphere 48 game season, I'm damn glad Tootoo will be running the other teams star players as opposed to Z and D. He'll grow on you, guaranteed.

Gonna miss Homer, but it is time. Hopefully Dan O'Halloran will finally leave us alone now when it comes to goalie "interference".

Well deserved, he learned from the best captain in hockey history so I think we'll be fine.

Having the buyouts in the summer is very interesting. The FA market this summer will be unbelievable, if only because of GMs love to toss around so much money in the old CBA.

Wonderful, Brunner injured Colaiacovo so now we have to start the season with Kindl as a regular. Magical, good start to the year already. Sucks because Carlo had looked very good in the Spengler Cup games as well.

The youth will be injected into the line-up slowly over the next 2 seasons. Tatar, Nyquist, Brunner and Smith will play, they are all proving that they are NHL guys either in the AHL or overseas (Brunner may need to adapt, but playing with Z helps him alot). Almqvist, Billins and Lashoff are having good showings in GR as well and figure to be in the mix if they keep progressing. Along with Ferraro and Andersson who are taking positive steps forward at the forward position in GR this year as well. Pulkkinen, Jarnkrok, Jurco, Sheahan are all years away but have good upside. I'm very excited for the Wings going forward, even with no hockey this season the Wings prospects are developing well. All that said with no mention of Mrazek but my stance on him has always been as soon as he's needed in the NHL he'll be here.

I'm impartial because I feel both sides are at fault, but some interesting words by Ray Whitney tonight.

Fair to say the next games cancelled will spell the cancellation of the season? I've said from the start I didn't think Fehr and Bettman could iron a deal out. Plus now with the in player fighting on the PA's side and rumors of desertification and all that, I just think they'll call it a day, lose all corporate sponsors, some fans who'll never go back and then be back to square one where we were 8 years ago. Unbelievable, I don't think hockey will overcome this lockout for quite a while going forward. The canadian teams will be there, the original six teams will be there, but the weaker markets will struggle to survive this. Some glad Lidstrom didn't re-sign for one more year just to have it wiped out like Selanne and Alfredsson have.

This kid is the real deal. Howard and Gustavsson better perform because Mrazek will be coming for there jobs, soon.

My question is why not play Mrazek? He has a high upside, is a fierce competitor and McCollum and Pearce both stink.

Why aren't Smith or Nyquist wearing a letter? Brennan Evans, really? Looks good so far for the Griffs though, hope they pull it off.
