Datsyuk is russian, a non-fighter, and isn't lauded by every analyst for his tough, physical play. And even he wouldn't have taken getting crosschecked sitting down like Backes did. It's not about the act, it's about how a "big tough guy" like Backes acted like a ***** and dove and embellished. You don't get it do you? It was Johan Franzen, that "crosscheck" that drew blood couldn't hurt a fly, and yet Backes went down like he was shot.

It'll be an interesting game. Marty always plays us tough, and it's a back to back, but maybe the Wings can carry some momentum over from last night? We could certainly use the points!

Backes pretends to be this big, tough abrasive player, but then Franzen gets tangled up with him at the end of the period and all of a sudden he's a wobbly legged little girl and goes down like nothing. Intent to injure When'd you start watching hockey? 2006? Christ man, c'mon. There's being pissed at the refs, and then there's flat out not knowing what your talking about. In fact, I'm so tired of hearing about Backes being this "tough, hard nosed player" I'll post his fight log, and before you mention Franzens fight log () lets establish that Franzen is a *****, and no one would ever mistake him for a tough player the way Backes is. He's got losses to Andrew Ference, Clayton Stoner, Ladislav Smid, Rick Nash and wins vs Shawn Horcoff, Cam Barker, Fedor Tyutin, Jonathan Toews, Corey Perry. What do all of those players have in common? None of them fighters, Backes is a puss, and he showed it last night by embellishing against Johan Franzen of all people. Please, if you choose to whine about the refs, that's fine there idiots, I agree. But about that play? No chance pal.

Can't believe we won. Nice, Kindl needs to sit for the rest of the season. He was in on both Blues goal, glad to see Franzen come back after missing so much time with laziness.. er injury... er

I ******* hate Backes so much. He acts tough, plays physical and fights guys like Getzlaf and Toews, but then he falls down when he takes a shot from Franzen of all ******* people?!? Not to mention he wears a shield too, ******* gutless player. I really hope we win this game now more then ever, f*** the Blues.

Do I think the Wings can beat the Blues on the road? Right now, no I don't. Would I love to be proven wrong? f*** yes. Very excited for this one, the best hockey game of the regular season for my money was the 3-2 win over St Louis at home before the all star break or whenever it was. Was great hockey, hard hitting, no backing down hockey. The wings haven't played like that much in the past few months so I would love to see it happen tonight

I know I'm really beating a dead mule here, but f*** Franzen. I wish Homer would get moved up, he can barely play anymore but he hustles and battles more then anyone on the team. Bertuzzi was doing fine on that line, and creates space better. Just anyone but Franzen Babs, please.

Forget his comments after the game, his coaching decisions at practise today are leaving me less then impressed. Nyquist is getting moved up, but Floatey McGutless is getting to ride shotgun with Datsyuk still and Bertuzzi is being demoted. And it seems that White is going to be a healthy scratch to keep Kindl in the line-up.. Kindl has 2-3 bad giveaways last night and provided nothing. I do not agree with rotating the defenceman right now. Why? 4 games before the playoffs and your making guys fight for jobs they've had all year and done well in? That's not gonna breed sucess, not this late. If he had done this earlier in the season I'd be all for it, but your supposed to be growing as a team and getting ready to mesh in the 1st round, instead guys are gonna be more worried about getting playing time then developing chemistry. To me, just seems stupid

If it involved Ericsson, I'd be interested. His value has fallen off, but he's still so young, physical and mean. I'm sure learning from Lidstrom and Kronwall could only mean good things. Lidstrom-White Kronwall-Smith Schenn-Quincey Kindl Giddy up

Based on the past 2 months, how do you feel about the Wings game? Can you, honestly and objectively say that there playing really well? Like that of a Stanley Cup contender? There's struggles throughout the year, but this is different. They just turned out one of the worst performances of the year in likely the biggest game to date of the season. That's inexcusable, and real fans see it that way. I'm not gonna say the Wings are gods gift to earth right now, or have a good chance at the Cup right now because frankly, they don't.

We could fall to 6th, but anyone thinking the magical switch is gonna flip with the way they've played on the road is delusional. We might beat Dallas, but we'd be crushed in the 2nd round. Something is seriously lacking in this team lately.

Call a spade a spade man, the Preds have been hungrier and better tonight. Rinne's been better then Howard, I'm trying to be optimistic when it's tough too, but to say it's a game of bounces tonight is just wrong IMO.

Can't wait to see no one show any emotion, no one be pissed off about this, and everyone just go through the motions for the next 16 minutes. I really hope we add some skill and some heart in the off season, because this has happened far too often this season.

I'm the biggest Cleary fan on the board most likely, but even I acknowledge he's gotta shut it down. Get surgery, come back next year with something to prove. By playing through injury, he's hurting the team big time, he can't skate, shoot or pass right now. Just no reason, I admire his guts, but this team is going nowhere this year the way things are going and Danny isn't helping matters right now.
