Weird day. Trading Commie for nothing, and then not grabbing a forward doesn't make sense. Pretty steep price for Gaustad threw the prices outta whack, too bad we couldn't have grabbed Pahlsson for his price. Not comfortable with Emmerton as the 4th line center.

I still don't think standing pat was the right idea, (don't mention Quincey, I mean up front) but a 1st for Gaustad is RETARDED. The guy is a 4th line center.. would've liked Pahlsson big time for the prices on both guys.

Well, the deadline has come. Lets see what trickles in, Stuart was acquired past the deadline in 08. Mann, another player we could've used going to a team were competing with.

No one is saying that. What people like myself and others are saying, is that we have some needs, we have cap space and assets and there are deals to be made. I don't want Kenny to trade our 2013 1st rounder for Paul Gaustad. Would be I excited if the deal was Emmerton+3rd for Gaustad? Sure would. Or a similar deal for a David Jones type? Also yes. The trade deadline is more about the cheeky moves, the smaller ones, that pay big dividends.

I agree. Kenny did a great job filling that need. Problem is, we have more then one need. We have a ton of assets, ton of cap space, and don't have a ton of scoring depth or grit on the bottom lines. Obviously we miss Datsyuk, but if we rely so heavily on one guy to spark the offense and the PP, we're in trouble. Likewise we don't have a strong 4th line center or much grit/big bodied players. Those types are available, like I said, time to make deals. I don't care what anyone feels, if Holland stands pat up front, I think it's a mistake.

How are those desperate moves? They paid decent prices on this kind of day, things we could've done. Fact is, teams were competing with are filling there needs going forward and as of now, we haven't. There's still lots of time, but those moves are good for the Canucks and Sharks, and that is bad for us.

John Shannon is right, Pahlsson has always been a thorn in our sides. Of course he'd go to Vancouver I know everyone is gonna defend Kenny because of "high prices", but teams around us are getting better and filling there needs. Hopefully we do the same.
