I definitely agree with you. We do need a top 6 winger, we've stockpiled too many soft bottom 6ers and that's why I feel it's a need too. The day is young, I know people don't expect much movement but two additions up front couldn't hurt, especially if we move Emmerton out.

You don't know Gaustad.. at all. He isn't a tough guy, he's a tough player. As for not a big improvement over Emmerton? Gaustad (56 GP 7G 10A -1 70 PIM 98hits 56.8faceoff pct 10 in the league) is much better then Emmerton (52GP 6G 3A +4 10PIM 28hits 42.6faceoff pct good enough to not even get on the list f faceoff leaders in the NHL ) Especially for a 4th line player who's job is to create energy. You say we have plenty of PK guys, sure, but not very good ones judging on the results this year. Plus, outside of Abby and Kronwall we have no good shot blockers, Gaustad would be such an improvement in so many areas and people try to discredit him because he fights, which is foolish because Abdelkader has more fights then him this year. If we could get a package of Gaustad+Stafford/Pominville and not pay too crazy a price we'd be untouchable.

Columbus' 4th line is more effective then ours. I'd rather have Derek Dorsett (59 GP 10G 5A -7 177PIM 146 hits) over Jan Mursak (11GP 0G 2A +2 0PIM 7 hits). I'd rather have Derek MacKenzie (61 GP 5G 6A +1 38PIM 175 hits) over Cory Emmerton (52GP 6G 3A +4 10 PIM 28 hits) any day of the week. Holmstrom-MacKenzie-Dorsett would be a heck of an energy line, alot better then our current 4th line. I understand there Red Wings and people like them, but there are much better options for the 4th line, you know, guys who actually create energy by hitting and getting dirty and creating offense.

Makes the Quincey deal look alot better. Give's Commodore/Kindl another shot at playing time.

The talk of the Sabres sounds good. If we could get Stafford/Pominville+Gaustad and not pay too crazy of a price, that'd be unreal. Very interesting going into monday.

That's the beauty of his acquisition. He's on our 3rd pair, but he is a bonafide 2nd pair guy. If there's one thing Kennys done well this year is build depth, we are in a great position going into the trade deadline.

He was pretty brutal tonight. The guy could get a pass if he'd just skate hard, once a game without the puck, but he doesn't. For the amount of hard working players we have, he should be doing it. He scores goals great, he can be a presence in front great. But he isn't a good play maker, not physical at all. Very frustrating player to watch, thank god for his play in the post season

Great game by Quincey and Howard. Everyone else played poorly, and that's why we lost. I'm almost kind of glad the streak is over, enough hearing about it all the time. Like look at the Canucks, they celebrate like they just won a playoff series or something after beating us without Datsyuk in a shootout. Who cares. The Wings need to wake up, and start playing good hockey again. Because if not, they'll struggle until Dats gets back.
