Was a great draft. Lots of size and skill. Defence cupboard got re-stocked well
-
The Winnipeg Jets are back! DarrenDreger Correction. Secret is out. Wpg Jets returns.
-
He's going to Montreal, and then fans of every NHL save for the Habs will hate him as much as I do
-
Well then, wont be cheering for Philly to do well any time soon. Also, Prongers got a pretty good track record as captain right? Not like he's been to 3 cup finals and won one of them as an assistant..
-
TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie It is not done but CGY is working to acquire Ryan Smyth. Smyth has final say with his NTC but it may be as close as he gets to EDM.
-
Something no one has touched on yet, so who's going to be the Flyers captain?
-
I dont usually do the roster posting thing, but with the cap official I had to do one CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR FORWARDS Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Jaromir Jagr ($2.000m) Todd Bertuzzi ($1.937m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Johan Franzen ($3.954m) Justin Abdelkader ($0.787m) / Brooks Laich ($4.000m) / Daniel Cleary ($2.800m) Tomas Holmstrom ($1.875m) / Darren Helm ($0.912m) / Patrick Eaves ($0.950m) Jan Mursak ($0.550m) / Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) DEFENSEMEN James Wisniewski ($4.000m) / Nicklas Lidstrom ($6.200m) Niklas Kronwall ($3.000m) / Eric Brewer ($4.000m) Steve Montador ($2.200m) / Brad Stuart ($3.750m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) / Evgeni Nabakov ($0.570m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,937,044; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $1,362,956 Lots of room, tough defence, 3 extra players in case of injury. Bryz signs, 9 years 51 mil. Crazy.
-
Pretty good frickin trade off if you ask me, a top 2 way center in the NHL and your moving an overpaid end of a contract guy back to his hometeam. I wonder what price Edmontons gonna pay for Smyth? I cant imagine it being very much.
-
Paul Holmgren is out of his goddamn mind, trading your top 2 centers, trading your CAPTAIN? And he's not even done yet? What a day so far.
-
What?!?!? Wow, if this is true. LA will have quite the one-two punch in Kopitar and Richards. Edit: Gord Miller just tweeted it's a done deal
-
Wooo, I love this time of year. The movement has begun. Hope Columbus overpaid big time
-
I wonder if it's the Flames clearing cap space, or if something significant is coming from the Sabres. Either way I hope it turns out awful for them, Flames can suck it

All the people saying Nick shouldn't have won because of +/- are dummies. If Nick had the same stats, but was a +40, and lost, all the people saying he shouldn't have won would be crying foul saying what a travesty it was he didn't win. I could care less what fans of other teams think, they don't watch Nick every game like we do and realize this Norris couldn't have been more deserving this year
-
Clearly his numbers did speak for themselves... as the 3rd best defenceman in the NHL this season
-
Well deserved, Norris Nick is back baby!
-
For those comparing Jagr and Modano, think about this. Modano needed to be convinced all summer that coming to Detroit was good, and that he still had it. The injury ruined him, and he questioned (in stupid, ill timed fashion) before the start of the playoffs whether he had the drive. With Jagr, he's anxious to get back into the NHL and challenge for the Cup playing with skilled players. I dont know how you can compare the two other then "wow, old" Jagr for 2 million (if it means Hudler = gone)
-
This team isnt even built yet Start this thread after training camp when the teams built and I'll get back to ya
-
Thank ya, I just woke up and I'm not quite in English major mode yet I wouldn't hate it either, just never imagined we'd be interested in Jagr of all people this offseason. Guess we'll see whats going to happen.
-
We've offered more money then Pittsburgh scares me.. unless the "Pittsburgh is only interested in a 1yr 1mil contract" is true, because then we arent wasting too much money. f***in if we sign Jagr, Hudler better be gonezo.
-
Good calls there. I keep forgetting Brewer because I assume Tampa will re-sign him, but if he hits FA and we get him what a signing that'd be. He logged heavy minutes for Tampa in the playoffs and looked great. Bring it on
-
More I think about it, the more I am in favor as long as Hudler is dealt away. Not many teams can boast Datsyuk-Jagr, Zetterberg-Franzen as there top 2 lines (that much talent... the LW can interchange between whoever) Then again I wont be heartbroken if he chooses to go somewhere else, kind of a Nabakov type thing for me. (Dont you screw this one up though Garth Snow )
-
Craig Ramsay will not be retained as the head coach of the Winnipeg franchise. Would he be a good fit for the defensive coach? When he joined the Bruins in 06-07 they saw better defensive play and sucess, he also won a Stanley Cup with Tampa in 04. Interesting name if Hitchcock did indeed turn down the assistants role.
-
Living close and having been there quite a few times, it's not hard to see why people hate it so much. Crimes bad, weathers worse, and there arent alot of parks (kidding, but Bryzgalov wouldnt wanna play there) The fans are passionate, and they have good management and ownership finally, but all the other things about the city keeps players from wanting to go there.. except Smyth for some reason.
