Of all the cheapshotters mentioned, the only one I wouldnt take is Ott because he's a dirty little rat. Tootoo would be a fan favorite here, same with Pronger, Bertuzzi was liked here before he got hurt, Simon would probably be hated because he's a tougher guy. I'd love a tough guy too, but it's not gonna happen bud, dont get your hopes up.

Williams has been contacted by ONE NHL team, if he gets more then 1.5 million, I'll be shocked. Sundin, will probably get 2 million if he's lucky from someone desperate to fill payroll. Grier is an aging grinder, who's coming off an injury plagued season. If Travis Moen couldnt fetch 1.5 million, Mike Grier will not.

There was nothing to complain about. In the 90's, Probert, Grimson, Kocur, McCarty, Lapointe, Rouse, Ciccireli, Ward, Vladdy, Malts and Drapes back when they hit things, Shanny, Homer, Brown. Last year when we won the Cup, Drake, Downey, McCarty, Cleary, Helm, Stuart, Chelios, Lilja. Not quite the 90's but it was good enough to get the Cup. This year? Cleary, Stuart... ?? Helm was great in the playoffs, Abby too, but we didnt have a checking line, we had a decent 4th line, and a skilled 3rd line. Thankfully this year, whether the Wings want to or not, there wont be a whole lot of skill on the 3rd line, like it should be. 2008's Drake-Draper-Cleary/Samuelsson line was great, shut down the other team and contributed, then Hudler-Helm-Mac/Malts could score and throw the body (well 2/3's of the line could.)

He'd certainly add a bit or grit and snarl to the team. Unfortunately, from the net out it doesnt do us much good. But if anyone messes around with the Wings at the clubs, Eddie the Eagle will be ready to assist. Remember when we were gonna sign Belfour in 06? I got a jump on that before it even happened...

Seriously, all they have in common is size. Theo Fluery was one of the biggest pricks in the NHL, was physical, and was a huge pest. Verbeeks name was the Little Ball of Hate, I mean c'mon, I'd love to have someone on the Wings like Verbeek. Sullivan has the heart of a lion, and is a fiesty little guy as well, only guy on that list that compares to Hudler because of skill sets. There are other players you didnt mention, Cliff Ronning, another guy who played big for his size, and had great skill in too. Hudler is gone, I wish we could get over talking about the little fool already. Move on folks (That ones not directed at you SWF, just in general.) Edit: Ah, it's a size thing, in that case I agree, but when you bring up anything else, they dont have a single thing in common.

I heard people say this when he was called up last season, but he never once took a bad penalty. Kronwall takes dumb penalties, but he's a fixture in Detroit. Abby should be given a chance, he has more upside then any of the garbage on the FA market.

Yeah, I'd imagine Heatley-Getzlaf-Nash will be matched up against the Zetterbergs/Datsyuks and Lidstrom of the Tournament, possibly Mike Richards line if he's paired with Morrow as well. Crosby will probably play with Iginla, and be given favorable match-ups. I'm just glad this is Mike Babcock coaching the team, stubborn A-hole who doesnt care if your Zetterberg or Kopecky, your given a role and you better do it right. I could see Sid get less time per game then Getzlaf, Staal, Lecavalier and Richards if the games get harder. Not a knock on Sid, just the strength of Canadians centers is incredible.

Another good graduate of the St John's Maple Leafs, too bad he goes from one team I hate, to a team I hate much more. I do wish him luck though, good kid.

Yeah, Abdelkader shouldnt worrying about scoring, that'll come, he was a more impactful player in 4 games in the Finals then Hossa, Homer, Maltby, and Hudler. He just needs to work on confidence and to finish every check like Helm and if the rough stuff comes, show the Wings brass what you got. I believe in this kid, his numbers and game in GR were great, and scoring the insurance goals in Gms 1&2 of the Finals?! Keep him over any of the guys I mentioned and we're probably Cup champs, and theres no question about him playing for Detroit this year.

Wallowing in mediocrity. Mats should've made a push for a Cup before his skills started to diminish, no interest in the Big Soft Swede, if we're talking Torontos Captain for the past decade sure, but he isnt that player anymore.

I'd take Bertuzzi over Williams for the potential grit he could bring, and the fact he scored 3 less points then Williams last year. And still has a killer beard that fits in here.

No he's not, but the fact he's worse offensively then Hudler, Hossa, and Sammy, all the while being much softer then those three as well, it just isnt a good option, unless it's for 500k-900k. I'd take a potential 20 goal scorer for less then a million, but this is just like a bad dejavu. Everyone was so happy to see him leave, just like they were with Kopecky and Sammy this offseason, and now Willys coming back? It's like Holland wants one scapegoat per team (Because we all know once the contract is signed, who will be the most hated player on the roster.) The question I have is, is Williams it? If theres still a Peca/Grier to be added, then it isnt so terrible.

If those scraps are really what we're looking at, screw free agents. None of them outside of Prospal possibly make us a better team.
