Yupp, he was garbage last year, so offer him and cheap 1 year deal and it could be worth it. However I dont want Prospal, I wish Philly had room, I actually really enjoyed Vinnys play while he was there.
-
I've only questioned Kenny once, it was after the loss to Edmonton. He did a pretty good job that season. I'm questioning him again, he never should've bothered with Hossa, and should've decided earlier what to do with Samuelsson and Hudler. Great moves to get Z and Franzen locked up long term, but if Williams is one of the FA acquisitions, it's a seriously lost off-season. Been there and worked, Raffi Torres happened, and it didnt work so well after that.
-
He isnt better then Ozzie, dirty ole Giguere, Turco, Ward, hell I'd take Biron over Fleury because of his toughness. I honestly believe Mike Richards is a Top 10 Canadian player, a hell of alot more deserving then Fleury.
-
Good for Welly. He still needs to work on his fitness, but he really grew into a hockey player last year.
-
lol Fluery at 4th is a joke. He's not even a top 10 goalie in the NHL, has choked in the playoffs every where he's played, finally wins something and is now better then Getzlaf, Lecavalier, Thornton, and friggin Luongo? Like, did a Canadian writer even pick this?
-
Benched throughout the playoffs, got in, got hurt. Noooo thank you.
-
Good god, I hope this is false. The Williams of 05-06 would be a welcome addition, but the post-Raffi Torres Williams is a joke.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=285925 Colin Stuart and Antron Stralman go to Calgary, and Burkie gets a couple of picks with Primeau, interesting move.

See, but thats the kind of toughness I'd actually like. Barret Jackman routinely challenges Datsyuk and Zetterberg to fight all the time, but could you imagine White grabbing ahold of Oshie and putting a licking on him? Bobby Ryan? Patrick Kane? Nah, it is pretty much for the moustache and his offensive prowess. (And he was one of my favorite St John's Maple Leafs back when I used to be a huge fan ) I'd love Exelby, but that wont happen. Dude is a Burke player.

I know what play your referring to, when Mats grabbed a lose puck at center ice, flew down the wing and fired a slapper top shelf. That was from what I saw of Mats, one of his only positives. I'd probably re-grow my love for Mats if he did come here, but I dont believe this is the option. And I'm also with you, I want a grinding player to join the Wings, not skill.
-
I'll be very disappointed if this happens. If it were going into the 2007-08 season, then I would've wanted Mats. Coming off half a season, injured and ineffective in the postseason, and pretty much forgotten in the hockey world, for anything more then 1.5 it's a waste. Mats is not the impact, decently physical big man anymore, he's pretty much Lang with a better slap shot.
-
Ah, forgot about Exelby and Frogren. I'd love for the Wings to get ahold of White, but I imagine Burke could get a decent value for him.
-
Homer pick, but I believe if Dano's 100% healthy coming out of camp, I can see him netting 25-30 if he plays where he should (1st line/2nd PP). Leino would be the other one, if he gets a decent shot with good playing time. He's strong on the puck and makes smart decisions in the offensive zone.
-
But doesnt Toronto have 7 d-men including White? I'd keep him. He really impressed me in all facets of the game last season, showed some toughness, and his ability to play D or forward should make him a keeper imo. Finger should be the man to go before White.

Pittsburgh proved this year that bringing in new players at the deadline can work if done right. Kunitz, Guerin, Fedetenko, and Adams. All grity guys that have won before, they'll be guys available at the deadline. Trading without giving up assets is a thing of the past, sometimes its the best option. I dont really like Prospal or most of the other FA's but I really just want something to happen

Hahah. Solid signing, hope he gets up for a couple games! Interesting to see so many veteran signings for GR this offseason.

Mike Grier's agent says he's 'interested' in Red Wings
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
I wouldnt mind Grier for cheeeaap. -
Hmm. This gives Calgary 7 d-men now. Phaneuf, Bouwmeester, Regehr, Sarich, Giordano, Pardy, Stralman. Obviously Stralmans strength is his offensive game, but Pardy was a perfectly fine #6, I'm wondering if Calgary may not be done?

NHL.com said he was born in Calgary? http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=84706...id=nhl-keymatch

"Danil" Markov is Danny Markov right? God I loved that guy, what a physco.

I dont like Hudler either, but your making Patrick Eaves out to be some hero, when really he's garbage. Did anyone watch him the past 3 seasons? You probably didnt, he's injury prone. He finally played a full season this year, 6 goals, 14 points in 74 games. 20 goals once as a top 6 forward getting shifts with Spezza and Fisher most of the time. He isnt a good PKer, he has played it in the past, but for the Sens and Canes? Could you name more then 1-2 good defensive players on either team? Eaves is not a great option, I'd take him because he's Canadian, but not much else is attractive about Patrick Eaves.

I dont want anything to do with Pyatt honestly. If it was the Pyatt from Buffalo that wasnt well known, big and actually played hard, sure I'd love it. If it's the lazy floater who didnt play very physical most of the year, and now has the baggage of losing his fiancee (god rest her soul). It could be one of those low risk, high reward things, so I'm sure Kenny will be interested, but he'd have to buy in like Cleary, and if he does, then I'd certainly be interested in what he could do. As far as guys I'd be interested in, the longer Peca stays out there, the more he seems like the perfect Drake replacement, with more offensive upside (Not by much, only 4 goals last year, but 22 points on dirty ole' Columbus isnt that bad.)

And the defence and goaltending was incredible as well. Lidstrom-Murphy Vladdy-Fetisov Rouse-Ward Vladdy, Rouse and Ward, jesus, back then Lidstrom and Murphy wouldnt have had to throw a single body check.

If we had won the Cup this season, and Ozzie had won the Conn Smythe, he'd be getting in. Now I seriously doubt it, and since I dont believe any team can go to the finals 3 seasons in a row, I dont think Ozzies going to get another chance. But I've been wrong many times before, I'd love to see him do it next year, and get into the HOF at some point. It'll be tough for him, but I've always been an Ozzie fan and I hope he makes it.

To any team. If Looch scores 20+ this year, I could see teams tossing 5 mil at him. But then again, the cap is set to drop next year, so maybe contracts wont be as lucrative next season. As far as Kessel, if it happens, sweet, he's a great player. If it doesnt, who cares. We're fine with or without Phil.
