Remember when Mrazek had the rebound problems? I hope we can still salvage a loser point out of this, but man. This game was over, we had lulled Anaheim to sleep, one bad goal and it all unravels.

If Z misses anymore time, and pulks is still banged up, he should be the next guy up. Plays into what I think for tonight, it's gonna have to take a huge effort from Jimmy for 2 points. Big reason why is our forward line-up tonight looks.... bad.

This is his first year pro, and he broke his leg during training camp. It takes time, he wasn't a #1 overall pick. He was 20th, he dominated junior and people expected him to step in and do it right away in the show. He'll be fine, the rest of this season is a learning curve. When he has a full summer of training, and a full training camp, then we'll see what he's made of.

Man, before the draft last year I was definitely dreading the day Pav and Z would walk away. But with the way Larkin has been at Michigan and the WJHC, and the way AA has played for GR this season, we're gonna be just fine. The Wings scouting staff is amazing, and more and more they just keep finding gems.

As long as we don't get Boston I think we'll have a chance. Tampa or Montreal, despite our struggles, will be a skating series. That's what we want. Boston, despite their struggles this season, probably dispatch us quick again just because of style. Past the 1st round, who knows, all bets are usually off once we advance.

Who needs grit when you have 6'2, 211lbs beast who skates like Jason Allison, dominates faceoffs like Mark Messier, and penalty kills ALMOST as good as Luke Glendening? Seriously though, I'm not sure what a guy like Neil has left. Plus he just got hurt, a couple years ago he would've been a great choice. Too bad Mitch Callahan got hurt, he might've got a look later in the year.

Well, a shootout win was unexpected, but awesome. f*** chicago. Dear Babs, don't bury Weiss anymore, get Jurco back in, and leave the top 2 lines alone for the rest of the season.

This guy should've been gone after the short season, Mike shouldn't be allowed to have these "favorites" of his and play them over good players. It's ridiculous. I get being defensively sound and all that jazz, but when you provide nothing else, you shouldn't be playing.

We need offense, so we sit Jurco for #18, and then Mike buries Weiss on the 4th line for Glendening. Wouldn't be surprised if we get shut out again. Babs needs to wake up and roll 4 lines that can play. At least Jimmy is still playing good, and Marchenko is looking better everyday. But ya, figure it the f*** out Mike.

Jurco scratched tonight because............................. Can't wait to see #18 moving around like a snail out there taking shots that a bantam team 18 goalie would stop. I love Babs but damn it if he doesn't do annoying things a lot.

Unreal bump. Some quality responses in this thread (mindfly!!!) To the topic, for as long as I can remember, we don't block shots. Just watch the way we play defense, we back off rushing forwards and let our goalies do the work. That's all well and good on the rush, but when the opposition get zone time and we don't ever get in front of pucks, gonna end up bad more often than not unless Jimmy is on his bean. What is kind of annoying about it nowadays is, we don't have Nick and Rafalski anymore. We got guys who really should be getting in front of pucks, E, Smith, Q, DK, Marchenko, ya know not exactly a bunch of offensive guys there. Defensive minded defenseman should block some shots.

Anything that gets #18 out of the line-up is a good move! Pulkkinen-Sheahan-Weiss is a real 3rd line.

I get the pairings thing, but if we need a real impact player, won't he just play with Smith too? Mike needs to get over Kronwall-Ericsson, that big dope has cost us a lot of points this year, not just tonight. He's best served as a 4/5. I honestly don't think Holland will make a move, but Petry would be a good fit. I realize being the best of a bad bunch isn't the most glowing endorsement, but I see the guy a lot being out west and he's under appreciated to say the least. MacTavish is a guy who thinks Justin Schultz could win a Norris afterall We're probably arguing over nothing though, because the pairs going into the playoffs are probably going to be the same as tonight give or take an Xavier Oullet sighting.

Petry is the best defenceman on the Oilers, by a mile. He'd be #3 behind Kronwall and Dekeyser for sure. Hall is a pipe dream, but adding Petry would be huge for our defence.
