Referees discretion had some merit when they all werent idiots, but I would be sick if they let them had out penalties for fights at their discretion. I understand where there coming from, but I dont like the idea. Trying to get new fans to the game isnt going to help by taking away fighting or making it harder to do. Dont fix what isnt broken, 3-4 FREAK ACCIDENTS IN 100 YEARS OF CONTACT HOCKEY. That is all, one happens this year and everyone hits the panic button and fighting becomes the hot button topic. Another good thing that the Bettman NHL has done, I wish they'd leave the good state of Hockey as we know it to someone who isnt a complete tool, god you dont even understand the NBA let alone hockey. Talk about things that are really hurting the game, not fighting. Again, I understand what your getting at, but leave it be for the love of god. Honestly, listening to these GM's on TSN, I cant believe where the game has gone. Am I jumping the gun on this? Probably, but having my favorite game in the world screwed with every year, is starting to grow irritable.

Unless your a fan, the style the Wings play can be boring to watch, if you ask a Devils fan about their style, they'll tell you it's exciting too. Sure they score goals, that doesnt make it exciting. Ovechkin's goals are exciting, Zetterbergs behind the back pass to Datsyuk for a tap in was exciting, the Wings dont do it often. I love watching the games even without the physical play because I grew up loving them, and still enjoy watching the majesty when it works to perfection, but I can see where and why people would say that. I'm sure people will quote me and say I'm not a real fan, and to go watch the Ducks or something, that's fine, I've been a Wings fan all my life, this is just what I believe most people think from what I've heard and read.

The bottom lines are strange looking, all I'm gonna say. 2 players look like they fit there, as far as the best line-ups come playoff time, Cleary wont be scratched for anyone, sorry. Glad to have Chelios back tonight, should've been much sooner! I hope he teaches Ericsson a few things, can never hurt to be paired with veteran.

That sucks. Downey was earning his spot, but that's the problem with contracts. At least Homer is back, hopefully he replaces a bit of the physical play because no one else will.

GMR, read what I said. It didnt happen in that game, and it didnt do anything. I liked it, and at least he stood up to Phaneuf, but that wasnt as blatant a cheapshot as the one of Kopecky, and again, I appreciate him trying to take out the big goof, but someone need to do something. The Cleary hit was amazing, one of my favorite hits of all time, however it was a message sended in the playoffs, and not a retribution message, one that we didnt send in that game. And the enforcer is our powerplay bull has no effect because he wasnt getting a penalty, my god, DO SOMETHING!

The biggest problem I have with that in this situation is, Phaneuf didnt get a penalty!

I love how that's a blatant cheapshot by friggin Phaneuf who always pulls it again it the Wings, and NO BODY DOES ANYTHING WHILE CALGARY GETS AWAY SCOTT FREE. Ugh.

You guys obviously havent watched Luongo much. The last line of defence is your goaltender, I'll defend Ozzie to a point, but he isnt have any sucess behind the defence. Luongo would make most of those tough saves, not every single one, but most. His stats wouldnt be amazing, but that doesnt mean s***. The games is what matter with a goalie, and when Luongo is on his he's unbeatable, anyone watch him own San Jose last night? Or Dallas a couple years ago? Ozzie's done that before, but not as consistently as Luongo the past couple years. Like, I know you love Ozzie, I'm a huge fan of his as well, but lets not twist things here.

As much as I want the Pens to miss, seeing Crosby score the winner and Ovechkin have a chance to tie and not do it, just funny. I'm sure literally more then half of North American hockey fans wanted to see the opposite.

Listen, I love Ozzie and all his leadership. Luongo is 10x better, and would undoubtly lead us to a Cup. It wouldnt even be fair to other teams.

The only positive out of this game is Downey scored, god I love that guy.

Man, anyone who checks the stats on NHL.com, the hits stats are flawed. They list Kopecky with 5 tonight I havent even noticed him tonight.
