Plus, he's healthy again. Since coming back from injury he's got 3 points (2 goals) in 4 games as a 3rd/4th liner. I'm with ya man, Scary Gary would be great for Detroit.

Red Wings' Darren McCarty back on the ice
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
If Helm, Leino and McCarty are all down in GR, along with the guys already there. Damn! That`s some good hockey! I`d rather watch that then the frickin Hitmen or Flames, thats for sure! -
Anyone who says Green couldnt cut it in the Western Conference, hasnt watched much of his career. The kid is tough, he wont drop the gloves everygame, but he`s tough. He isnt half as bad defensively as people make him out to be, he is however very turnover prone and that is the biggest strike against him. He`s young, he`ll make mistakes, but man I would kill to have him in Detroit. Thing is, we likely wouldnt have drafted Green with the pick any ways. Haha, Fliechsman, watch how he plays in the playoffs before you evalute that guy, Fillpula is better then him. We didnt lose diddly squat in Tomas Flieshman. Besides, deep down inside, everyone loved Lang. Plus, he was great for us in the playoffs. Sure, he couldnt control his love for cheeseburgers, but I dont blame him for that.

Marty was one of the best back in day. I`d love to see him come back, but dont kid yourself. If theres a gritty player the Wings need this year, it`s Neil, no Lapointe.

The Leafs have generally always had good goalies. Raycroft and Toskala have not been that, and every Leafs fan I know, hates the both of them, because they are that bad. Burke even called him out saying he isnt a starting goalie. WHY WOULD WE NEED THAT?! He isnt better then Osgood, why pick up a 4 million dollar contract for a frickin 6`5 defenceman that can have an impact in the NHL. Bloggers are dumb dumb dumb. (Expect for Wyshnski, quite enjoy his stuff.)

Cleary will get an assist on that as well! Good job Datsyuks!
-
Fillpula makes really bad decisions with the puck, must be watching Sammy to much in practice.
-
Samuelsson is by far the worst defenceman on this team, get him off the point! Play him as a forward, or dont play him at all!
-
PP is forcing waaaaay to much tonight, it's led to a tone of turnovers.
-
Turned on Rick Mercer, and missed a Nashville goal, Maltby and Rafalski looked bad thur.
-
Yes! and finally Cleary gets an assist!
-
This period has been a weird one. Turnovers everywhere, shots are 9-7, and the score is 2-1 Nashville. Thank god one bad period doesnt cost us alot.

Honestly, Kopecky cant skate worth s***, so that was just a great play by him, and Weber for popping him.

HOOOOSSSSAAAAA

I dont think YG is arguing he isnt hungry for a Cup, rather he isnt like Drake in the sense this is his last shot. Guys like Roberts, Nolan, Recchi, Guerin, Roenick etc. Are the types he meant, I'm pretty sure
-
What a friggin shift! 2 big hits, and comes incredibly close on a breakaway. Atta boy!
-
It's so true, and so funny to watch. If nothing else (seriously, NOTHING ELSE!) he provides some humor.
-
Hahaha, Kopecky got smoked.

I thought (mainly because it included the hit I posted, and was directly under my post) that you were refering to me. But now that I see your opinion and what you were trying to say, I dont disagree, at least not about much. It does take a great defensive player to slow down, shut down, whatever, a great player like Malkin, I did under value that. As far as the Hudler thing, I'm with you there. Coming into the season, I never would've believed someone would want to offer HIM an offer sheet, but he's changed everyones minds about that. I did not read that Puck Daddy interview (which is funny, because I read his stuff pretty much everyday.) I suppose I did undervalue Fillpulas contribution to shutting down Malkin, I never meant we'd win without Fillpula, just that I thought we were talented enough to move him, and not feel the loss. Who knows if that'd be true or not, we'll just have to see. At least were on the same page now though

Babcock Talks About Penalty Kill Problems
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Elshupacabra's topic in General
He has been? That's why he was a healthy scratch not long ago? Kopecky was dreadful on the PK, he looks lost, although he does most of the time anyways. Maltby and Draper were built to kill penalties, and if they keep playing like they have been, that wont stop. As far as PK overall, it's all about desire. They killed Pittsburgh because they wanted the puck more. They blocked shots, hustled to everything. They played like it was the playoffs pretty much. Stevie Yzerman did that every single night, he set the tone. We need someone to do that, if the players play like they did against Pittsburgh, or at least close to it most nights, then there fine. -
Leave it alone. Only 3 widely noted incidents, bad incidents in a long time. Of course, 2 happen this year and everyone panics. It's funny Kelly gives his opinion on the subject, in a game where Eric Reitz and David Clarkson rip the buckets off and have a great go. Leave.It.Be.

Notice how NN said Mike Richards, and I said he wasnt the same afterwards? Mike Richards overall. The hit was just the biggest thing Mike Richards did, and it was widely speculated that the hit broke a couple of Malkins ribs. Opie, see this is why I love you, the whole put a pylon on the ice and he wouldn't have scored, yeah that's what I said alright! Crosby and Hossa were shutdown because they were playing against 2 Selke nominees and the winner of the Norris trophy.Yes, Fillpula shut down Malkin, but if you think Malkin was 100%, or if you believe it was all Flip as some in here make it out to be, your crazy. (Those aren't directed at you Opie, because you didnt give your opinion on the matter, just defending what I said and why I said it.) As for Hudler getting an offer sheet, his production the past 2 years including this one, with such little ice time, I have a hard time believing someone wont offer him one, and I'd fully expect him to accept it. Plus, no GM in there right mind would throw a smaller offer sheet like 2.5-3 mil. It'd have to be near what the last couple have been like.
-
Malkin was never the same, we could've moved Samuelsson to center and he would've handled Malkin 5on5. The goal afterwards was the only positive thing he did, after that hit.
-
I used to be by far, the biggest Hudler hater on this sight. But after the way he's played in the playoffs and this season, there is not one reason that Fillpula should be kept over Hudler. Espicially not potential, that is bull. If Fillpula is better then Hudler in 3 years, cool. He'll be good then, but the Wings, yeah they like winning cups, and putting players on the ice that can do the best job of that. Hudler 22 GP - 5g 9a Fillpula 22 GP 5g 6a Fillpula played much more minutes last year as he was a key defensive presence. But we dont need that anymore. Zetterberg and Datsyuk will probably anchor there own line, and if not Franzen and Hossa is good enough to shut down the opponent. And to make sure I dont mess up my grit rep, I'd take Mike Richards over both of these bums anyways!
