Bring him aboard for a fair price, the reward far out weighs the risk. This guy can be a game breaker in the right scenario.

I agree with Pulks, and Mantha for the 1st half of the season. But Jurco? Why? He's shown he's ready. Why in the good lords name should we re-sign Alfie and Cleary hypothetically, to bump down Jurco? I've got no problem with Hollands method with kids, but once a guy has shown he's ready for the dance, get him here full time. No more Nyquist situations.

If we hadn't signed Q I'd be interested, but not now. I wouldn't even say his ceiling is higher then Smiths. He's just been given more free reign, in our system who knows if he'd flourish. I want Marchenko to get the job, but if not, he's better then Kindl/Lashoff.

I think a half season in the AHL, and then bringing him up after the All-Star game to give him a 5-10 game look is the best option. If he looks like he fits, keep him up, if he's having a hard time, back to the minors to rip it up and rinse and repeat again in the fall. If FA's won't come here, and Holland won't make trades, we're gonna have to build a contender in house for a while. We've got a lot of good young players, some probably ready now (Marchenko, Ouellet, Callahan, Ferraro) some maybe need more seasoning (Mantha, Sproul, Backman, Pulkkinen)

If he's healthy, he's the closest to being ready. I know the Wings say he's "penciled" in to start in GR, but I hope if he shows well, he's given a spot. RH shot, 6'2, offensive potential and steady in the D-zone. I've been impressed with the kid since I saw him in the AHL all star game in St. John's last year, but he's gonna be good. No use wasting him in the minors, and playing Kindl, if Marchenko is the better player come October.

Doubtful. Vinny is a guy who needed to play in a certain system with speedy players to be effective, and even in the situation his contract would stink. It was a head scratcher at the time why he went to the wrong situation in Philly, and now they are paying the price. Niskanen, while he may never score 40+ points again, will still probaby be a strong 2-way d-man until late in his deal.

I try to stay as positive as possible, but we were a bubble team and we're bringing back our same roster. You shouldn't be looking at the top contenders in the east getting worse. Look at the rest of the bubble teams, most of them improved in some way or another. It is going to be (regardless of if we lose 300-400 man games again) another scratching and clawing season for the playoffs. It sucks, but this is becoming the norm. A change for the Red Wings, I hope, at the very least, we give roster spots to kids. They deserve to play, no more crap stop gaps.

I keep coming back to the site hoping this was just a bad dream, but no. A real life nightmare.

Bringing back the exact same roster, while every other team improved, man I'd say making the playoffs will be the Stanley Cup for our front office executives.

Wow, so according to Khan we were willing to give Boyle more term and Niskanen more money. And both spurned us, gonna have to build from within because we won't be able to land top flight FA's anymore.
