As long as we win, but if we blow this, DEAR LORD.

I'd say Lidstrom, primary assist to Draper

Picking fights with our europeans isnt backing his s*** up? That's news to him.

FRANKENZEN!!
-
Yeah, it's awesome. I hope they keep sucking it hard. Actually, that wasnt true, they deserved to win the Cup, and if Burke wasnt the GM they'd be in a better situation right now.
-
Geez was that ever bad luck haha.

God I hate the Blues, if it isnt there idiots plays, it's there goonery. I love beating them, this is good. Conklin is great and deserves some more starts BTW.

2 pretty big beatdowns tonight. First in the Vancouver/Columbus game, Nikita Filatov gets KTFO by Bieksa, and Alex Picard stands up and picks up for him, get's his ass handed to him. Then in the Calgary/Washington game, Tyler Sloan playing in his first game of the year, nails Dustin Boyd, Rene Bourque of all people drops the flippers and beats him down. Pretty good night.

I just saw the highlights, that was a snipe! I never knew Parros had that kind of shot

Holland's stance on Enforcers: Once and For All
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
I meant the last time we actually called our powerplay our enforcer. In 06-07 we tried Norton, didnt work out well And who could forget Lilja's enforcerness at the end of the year. Plus, in the playoffs Maltby-Draper-Cleary were machines out there, and then the soft card was out the window. -
Holland's stance on Enforcers: Once and For All

Laraque has been a consistent point getting enforcer. The guy had less then 10 points once, and he's usually always played on the 4th line. Kopecky can barely stand on his skates, he and Laraque and very close when it comes to skating. Defence? Laraque is +12 in his career playing for Edmonton, Phoenix and Pittsburgh. It isnt all about stats, but you'll never hear a bad thing about Laraque as far as defensive play is concerned from his old coaches. Kopecky is +1 playing 4th line, obviously has only started his career, but it isnt saying much. I've watched him the past 3 years, he isnt anything special on defence. How about this, Laraque had 13 points in 71 games last year, and Kopecky had 12 in 77. Laraque is probably the best enforcer in the NHL, because he can contribute. Until Kopecky proves he's better then Laraque, he just aint. -
Holland's stance on Enforcers: Once and For All

The last time our PP was our enforcer, we were out in the 1st round against Edmonton. I dont like that Holland came out and said that, it's 5 games in. When it's 40 games in, people start gunning, and gunning hard. It'll get ugly before it'll be pretty. But whatever, there going to win the cup hopefully, and my stance on how important an enforcer is wont change anything, so why waste bandwith. -
35-40 isnt crazy. Depends where he ends up and if he develops good chemistry quick enough.

What's with this goalie thing? I keep reading how the Wings want to be able to bring up a goalie whenever. Why? Osgood has a history of not getting a ton of injuries, and the ones he does sustain dont keep him out for long. Conklin's only missed a few scheduled starts in his life. I dont understand there obsession with that. Not you Marcus, just in general, I dont know why there being THAT cautious. As for Downey, he needs to play against St Louis, Dallas, Anaheim, Chicago and Nashville. Him or McCarty, one needs to be in. These are our rivals, and there going to be gunning for us. We need someone to answer the bell.
-
Could this mean Downey's coming up? I hope so, the last thing I want tot see is the Wings keep playing soft. They went through last season and playoffs without playing soft, and now were back to this. But that's all speculation, I dont know the details.
-
I said it the other day, but didnt make anything of it. But, the puck possesion from last year isnt there, the defensive play isnt there, and the Wings are playing alot more dump and chase, chip it in on tip passes. Stuff I havent seen from them since Lewis was head coach. I hope the Wings go back to there play from last season, alot better, I hate the dump and chase game as opposed to puck possesion, bring it in game.

Good guy Dan LaCouture just fought Nathan McIver, alright go, he gets the win, but they fell down to early to be a good fight. Still wish we had signed Cleary and LaCouture a few years back, instead, Mark Mowers..

Kronwall hits like a truck. In the postseason. In the regular season, he's a spot picker. He still will throw huge checks this season, I know that. But what I was talking about is a consistent hitter. A Chris Neil/Brian Sutherby on forward, A John Erskine/Willie Mitchell on defence. It just helps when you have the consistent guy, becuase then when the playoffs roll around, the spot picker hits more often, and then the whole team starts hitting. It's like follow the leader, and you need someone to start it off.

Even if Drake was more effective in the post season, other teams knew to keep there heads up in the regular seaosn whenever Drake was on the ice. We havent replaced that, no one even thinks twice when Tomas Kopecky comes at them (only using him because that's who many thought would replace Drake's presence.) We need someone to drop the mits and throw body checks, because the team played bigger as a whole with Drake and Downey in the line-up.
-
The defence is to blame. Osgood has given up 1 or 2 bad goals out of 14. The defence will get better as the season progresses, nothing to be worried about. Unless it doesnt come together the next little while, but I dont think it'll be a problem.
-
Downey would have a better shot at beating King, and even then he'd probably lose.
-
Someone praising Maltby? What? I dont believe you. I'm surprised this thread hasnt been derailed with "MALTBY OUT, LEINO IN, HAIL LEINO". I for one love the way he's playing so far, even though he still needs to hit more. Unfortunately, Kopecky is even less physical then Malts right now, I really wanna see a healthy D-mac and Downey in the line-up with Maltby, so he keeps the tough play up.
-
Too small and not strong enough to play top 2 lines. Very effective as a 3rd line, 2nd powerplay guy. I dont like Hudler at all, but he plays his role well.

I forgot Hossa knocked them out of the playoffs! Hahaha, in OT no less, poetic justice.
