I'll never understand the Maltby hate. He gives 120% every shift, and is one of the nicest guys around. A guy people can associate themselves with and he's been here since 96.. he still hits hard, I want to see if Maltby will change with McCarty returning and Downey being around. He is still a top PKer in the league, that's how good he is. I know it doesnt matter when half of Detroits friggen forwards are top PKers haha, but he does his job, and doesnt cost alot. His leadership in the lockeroom and on the bench is irreplaceable. When he and Draper are gone, people will miss them. I gurantee it, and you'll miss seeing #18 on the ice, you may not want to believe it but you will. I for one am glad he played out the majority of his career in Detroit.

Dont underestimate the Q boys, there are alot of good tough players in there. The WHL is very tough as well, but I'd take the Q over it, probably due tot the fact I lived in an atlantic province for so long. Back to Brule haha, it's a shame that what could've been a great career has fallen to shambles, I still like the kid and wish him well.

I'm confused, we have 22 players, including Quincey. Why does he need to be dealt? Howard gets healthy and gets sent down, McCarty gets healthy and gets his spot and will fight for it with Downey all season long which is exactly what I wanted to see. I just do not understand the need to trade Quincey when we are fine for cap and roster space.

One year of seasoning for Leino and he'll be good enough to be in a top 6 role next season. It'll be interesting to see at the end of the season what the decisions made on Hudler and Samuelsson are. The big money is going to Zetteberg, Hossa and Franzen, and then the secondary players become important, at least we have alot to look forward to before the season starts this year and next!

Downey wont even have to go to GR. He'll stay with the team until Howard comes off the IR, and then will be recalled. No need to get in a panic, I'm a grit slappie and I do believe the Wings will be plenty tough, although I will certainly doubt that if Quincey is dealt away and wney and Mac dont play regularly in and out.

Great deal for Vancouver. O'Brien never should've been traded away from Anaheim, another bonehead move by Burke. He's developed into a pretty good 2-way 2nd pairing guy.

In Downeys case, a useless pre-season game, up by 2 with 10 or so minutes to go, and he doesnt fight when challenged. So what? In the regular season, if Peters run is taken on a skilled player, one of two things will happen. 1.) Downey gets him next shift, or 2.) he gets called for a blatant hit from behind. It means nothing. Wait until the regular season to see what Downey is capable, people must forget his 7-1-2 record last year, and he's not even a true heavyweight. BTW, I dont have a problem with Mac getting the role either, I'd like to see what a summer of hard training has done for him.

If this is true, I'll be pissed off. You cant evaluate a player after a couple exibition games IMO. Give him a couple games in the regular season and see how he plays. BTW, he and and Ericsson had a great game against Buffalo, so why deal him after his best game? I just dont get it.

That's true. I guess my hate here is for the instigator rule, if it hadnt been in place, I imagine they would've gone. Downey cant be doing that stuff regardless, just like how he should've fought King last year in St Louis when he decided not too.

It'll be Downey/McCarty. As much as I'd like to see Leino and Helm, it'll have to wait until the playoffs.

Conklin was great tonight. Quincey and Ericsson looked good, and so did Leino. Peters is a little *****, and anyone getting on Downys case is crazy, Peters was afraid of an instigator penalty in a preseason game, if he wanted to fight he would've.

Ericsson wont play even if Chelios goes on the LTI. At NHL level he's almost 1million dollars, so we'd still have to trade Lilja to make room, and there not gonna trade Lilja now.
