Wings officially have vacancy in asst coach spot
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Echolalia's topic in General
Wow, good call. Had forgotten about Murray since he fizzled out with the Blues. That's certainly a name to keep in mind. -
Wings officially have vacancy in asst coach spot

Not the assistant I was hoping would depart this off season. Gonna be interesting to see who comes and replaces him. Holland should phone up #5 and see if he wants to coach our defence -
Certainly gives us something to talk about haha. I think a 2nd line of Nyquist-Thornton-Franzen would be great in theory, he's from St. Thomas so he'd essentially be coming home without having to go to Toronto and deal with that pressure cooker. By no means a done deal, but I'm intrigued.

Was just watching Insider Trading on TSN. According to Pierre Lebrun, Joe Thornton has given no indications of what he wants to do, but confirms that Holland has called San Jose to see what it would take. I know for one, I've hated dumbo Joe in the past, but that'd all be in the past if we could land him (depending on price of course.) link to the story: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=455266

Signed Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Bottom line, if not for Gus we don't make the playoffs. Good signing, Mrazek will be ready to steal the starters job after this coming season after another year in the minors. -
Compliance buyout expected to be used on Tootoo
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Nightfall's topic in General
No trade coming, per St. James and Khan, he's being put on waivers for the purpose of a buyout. -
I love Dano, always will. But the guy is toast and he has 50 year old knees. Waste of time, just move on.

Cue mass destruction.. from St. James "The team also has been in talks with forward Cleary; despite a subpar and injury-plagued season, the Wings will be good to the word they gave to Cleary last fall when he left behind money and terms with Philadelphia to sign for one year and $1.75 million with Detroit. At the time, there was a verbal agreement the Wings would take care of Cleary past 2013-14. The most likely scenario has Cleary agreeing to a two-way contract that would enable the Wings to put him in the minors if he does not succeed in challenging for a job at training camp."

Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to SteelTownWingsFan's topic in General
I'm a huge enforcer guy, and I don't think we need to look at Thornton. If Boston (the team that whipped us in the playoffs) don't need him anymore, why do we?? He's gonna be 37 soon, we need to find a young Gazdic type that can actually take a regular shift on the 4th line. Until that guy comes along, it's status quo. But we don't need an old washed up enforcer. -
Ben Vanderklok replaces Mitch Korn as Goaltending Coach in Nashville
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to PredsFanTheBayouState's topic in General
I think Mitch Korn can do alot of good for Holtby in Washington. Kolzig almost ruined the kid last year, and Korns rap sheet with Preds goalies is impressive. Never forget: Under him, Dan Ellis was a starter in Nashville. -
2014 SCF : (2) The Big Apple vs. (3) Hollywood

If the Wings go down, then this is all that matters to me f*** those bangwagons and their whiny ass captains. -
Signed Wings sign Tomas Nosek to 2 year entry level deal
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Dabura's topic in General
Never a bad thing to add young players to the organization. A few years in GR and this guy will only be 24/25, could turn into a player. Like a free draft pick. -

Glad Williams got the Conn Smythe, dude is captain clutch. Lundqvist just couldn't bail out the Rags anymore, feel for the guy. -
No chance Murray trades in division. Even if he did, the Leafs would overpay ridiculously for Spezza, Holland wouldn't. Knows better. (And I'm a guy who wants to see some movement, no thanks on Captain Awkward Laugh)

Never cheered so hard to a Wing getting TKOed. Back to the topic at hand, I'd trade up all right... for #2/3 and take Reinhart or Bennett. We don't have a strong center prospect in the system anymore, and lots of defense prospects.

For the same price I'd prefer Nash too, but at 7.8 that contract is a ******* albatross. -

Rick Nash is a ******* bum. Boy am I glad the Jackets turned Holland down, the dude is a bigger ghost then Franzen, gets paid twice as much and is a "tough" canadian boy. What a joke. Glad for the Kings though, they play the right way. -
Am I crazy for thinking Brodeur would be a good idea? Gus is not going to want a 1 year deal, that more or less is saying "Petr needs more seasoning and we like you... for now" Brodeur is the best goalie to ever play the game, is 42, and would be a great presence for Jimmy. If the guy is surrounded by winners like Ozzie and Brodeur, he should start to get it. It's far from our priority, but if Gus goes else where, why not bring in Marty if Holland doesn't want to bring Mrazek up?

5 playoff berths in 20 years for Jimmy as GM. Strangely enough, 3 ECFs, 2 SCFs and a Cup. He's pretty terrible at drafting which is part of the reason the Pens axed Shero. Strange move.

WCF: (6) California Dreamin' v (5) The Night Chicago Died
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
3 words: f*** The Hawks. I cheered pretty loud when that puck went in the net, going to enjoy the hockey in the finals. -
Hopefully Adam Oates. He didn't do a great job in Washington, but when he was an assistant in NJ I really admired his work. He didn't have a ton of talent (Except Parise and Kovalchuk) and ran their PP on the run to the cup they had in 2012. He'd be a perfect fit since we're looking for a better PP set up. Plus he's got Detroit connections and Babcock connections (coached him in 03).

The best thing in the world is when the Wings win the cup. The 2nd best thing in the world is when the Hawks DON'T. -
ECF : (5) New York Rangers vs. (4) Les Canadiens de Montréal

Stepan broke his jaw on that hit by Prust last night. Not only no penalty, but taking out the #1 center for the Rags. With Brassard banged up too, this series unfortunately could swing the Habs way. -

Haha, that's a fact. Bournival might be more effective, but boy was that hit dirty.
