Great news. It'll be great to see McCarty and Downey pushing each other all year and protecting our guys.

Can the Ducks now trade Schnieds for half his salary? Or would the other team be on hook for the full salary?

This is the reason I got a Downey jersey last year. The guy has the attitude every hockey player should. I cant wait until he proves everyone wrong again and makes the team, as an everyday or so guy. BTW, it just shows his character and love for the fans that he would stay out till midnight to sign autographs. If you get a chance to meet Downey do it, he's a hilarious guy in person.

And to think I used to think highly of this guy, Brian Burke is a maroon who inherited a championship team. He has waived Bryzgalov, Schnieder and Bertuzzi in the past year, all the while making his team worse for it. As for Matty, I hope he ends up somewhere where I can cheer for him, because I still love the guy.

Good plan. Stevie picks a winning team, and Gretzky, Babcock and probably Andy Murray would be the coaching staff.

Cool. Montreal as soft as swiss cheese. We have guys too. Cleary (Hard working, hits, will drop the gloves) If your gonna count Lapierre then I'll say Maltby, since he is tougher. And yes, I watched a ton of Habs games last year. If your gonna count Franky Bouillon, then I'll count Chelios, Stuart, Quincey, etc. We have Downey and McCarty as well, we're tougher then Montreal.

Eric Staal is definately better then Malkin, if the Canes stay healthy they'll make the post season and Staal will easily score 100 points. He's very underated as far as stars go, and that much money is a fair deal. When people bring up Iginla and Thornton, these guys are veterans who took less to help there teams get better.

Only way we'd get Willie is if he's on the last year of his contract, because he makes 3.5 million. But good guy to bring up, and you cant imagine how excited I'd be if Mitchell came to Detroit. Lilja and Sammy for a Neil type player that's kinda cheap is a good idea as well, so we keep toughness in the lineup and rotate Kopecky/Downey/McCarty

Hopefully him and Downey play in the Winter Classic, and, well the rest is history. I dont want him to make the Hawks, it'll only make me hate him more.

Like I said before, I will put up with terrible Kopecky for 20 games, if we get Hossa, and most likely another Cup. Possible but wont happen. Ever. A couple guys I'm going to watch is Bernier in Vancouver and Mueller in Phoniex.

That isnt that bad, the Bruins have alot of under appreciated players. Lucic, Thornton, Kobasew, Krejci, Ference, etc. I expect them to make the playoffs this year, Ottawa wont be able to keep anything out of there net, Toronto is Toronto, Buffalo are alright, Boston may have the best team of the 4.

I wish! Horcoffs the kind of guy any GM would want on his team. His 2-way play fits in with the Wings system, and he's always at the first few practises before training camp with the Wings vets.

Ottawa or Toronto? I mean they have alot of hockey history and all, obviously, but giving Montreal a free win isnt fair. I dont even think they deserve an outdoor game, the "100 year anniversery" bull is starting to get old, and the season hasnt even started yet!

I think we understand each other now, I dont want to move Lilja until after training camp, see what the other guys have, and if it isnt better then what Lilja brings, dont move him. I agree that shot blocking and PKing is important, playing hockey I know that those guys are important and big parts of the team. The thing is, I'd like to see if Q has the same kind of abilitys Lilja does, because it'd solve alot of problems if he did.

Speaking of Horcoff, he was there at practise lol. That picture of Ozzie making a save is not on some guy from Michigan, look carefully he's wearing an Oilers jersey. Also great to see D-mac out there, hopefully his summer training went well.
