Your kind of making my point NN, Quincey could go out non stop everyday with a bucket of foam pucks and get the coaches to take slapshots and he work on positioning and timing until he gets good at them. I'm not saying he'll be as good as Lilja at shot blocking, I'm just saying he'll be able to learn the skill and do it during games.

Sweet. Love Chelios, and he is not as bad as people are saying, one injury riddled playoff where he wasnt even that bad anyways, doesnt mean anything. Also good to know Lilja's probably gone, I dont know why people are up in arms about his PK ability and shot blocking. These are traits you learn, let Quincey learn how to do it in training camp and by mid season people will be saying how good he is at it.

Guess this means were stuck with Kopecky, I guess I'll deal with it if it means Hossa stays.

The thing people dont realize is, Lilja's claim to fame is shot blocking and PKing. These are skills that are taught, he's just a good student, nothing more. Rafalski can play the PK, Stuart can block shots, Chelios can do both in a smaller role, and Meech and Quincey were top PK guys in the minors. He's so easily replaceable, that it's silly to defend keeping him for those reasons. I loved the Pain Train thing, but he isnt that anymore, I'd rather see what Quincey or Meech have, because I know what Lilja has.

Why in the world would you trade a cheap young defenceman, instead of Lilja, who is comparable to Chelios, just costs more. It makes sense to deal him even if people dont want to believe it, just because we're the classy Red Wings doesnt mean we wouldnt do a sign and trade, and it isnt really one anyways, since we'd likely deal him in late September.

Good, I love Selanne, I just wish he'd wise up and go to a team that isnt terrible.

Everyone said that Tampa would be the teaming scoring 10 goals and giving up 9 next year, now it's looking like Ottawa will be scoring 4 and giving up 6, there defence and goaltending is attrocious.

Honestly, if it's too a team like Chicago or San Jose, Lilja or Samuelsson makes sense, Lebda kinda if it were St Louis, but I hate trading players in the division because they always play so well against us.

Francis Pare is the one who will be a top 6 forward on GR this year, the kid did great last year in the Q. Wouldnt mind seeing him on the Wings in a couple of years, even if it wont happen.

He's that good. You say Datsyuk or Malkin, how about Datsyuk or Crosby? As much as I love Dats and his feistyness, I'm taking Crosby, he's the best player in the NHL. Your comment about Toews and Kane is just stupid, do you watch the players? Toews is not flash, he's good hockey yes, but not flash. Kane has speed and skill, but he doesnt wow you all the time. When Crosby is healthy, he does, and Malkin helps. (BTW, before you say I'm a Sid Slappie or something along those lines, Im not a huge Crosby fan, and I hate Malkin.)

Mike Toth was right when he said that Pittsburgh will have a hard time making the playoffs this year. Crosby and Malkin are good, but will Malkin really have another season like last? Doubt it. There defence is pittiful, Gonchar is the number 1, then Gill, Orpik, and Eaton. I cant even name the rest, and Whitney is out until december or january and that may already be too late. I just dont see them as a threat unless Crosby plays in every game, and has another 120+ point year. Montreal, they will be better, but I dont think there doing anything, and it's going to be annoying as s*** listening to this "100th year in the NHL" bulls*** from the Canadian media all year, that doesnt mean they'll win the Cup, or even challenge for it. Only teams from the West are good enough to win the Cup, Detroit, Dallas and San Jose will be the top teams in the West, and will have the best shot. The East doesnt stand a chance unless Montreal adds a few significant pieces.

I hate the guy too, but Getzlaf has all the things people look for. Size, heart, skill, talent. He's top 10 easily. Crosby overrated? Please, he's a whiney little baby, yepp, but he is one hell of a hockey player, and I'd take him over Ovechkin in a heartbeat. These selections are not based on opinion, there based on what the player brings to the table, and for the most part there accurate.

Chelios has been one of my favorites since he was dealt here, but that doesnt change the fact I wouldnt be able to look at him again if he re-signed in Chicago. I really dont think it will happen though, Chicago are far from contending and needing veterans, but if Cheli stays around for a couple more years, who knows.

Playoffs every season, winning, Cups, best coach in the NHL, best GM, best front office, fair treatment, etc. This is the best team in the NHL since 1995, and will continue to be for a long time. If you want a shot at the Cup, and you have already made alot of money, your best oppurtunity is to come to Detroit. Obviously because of money and family, not everyone does, but for those who do, they win Cups.

Any of the old battle of Alberta series were always great. Tough play, scoring, overall entertainment, everything.

I dont know why people are mad at McCarty, the guys life was ruined and he was given a chance last year, and won the cup. He's coming back obviously, he's just looking at all the options. He'll get the same deal as Downey in September, no need to get mad at the guy.
