Montador signs with Ducks No terms yet, but it probably means Schnieder is gonna be traded.
-
Burke wont trade Pronger, ever. And if he did, it'd be the worse move he ever made.
-
Samuelson+Lilja/Lebda for Neil. We get bigger and tougher, the Sens get there defenceman, and they get a responsible 3rd liner with comparable offensive output to Chris Neil. Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Filpula-Franzen-Hossa Cleary-Draper-Neil Maltby-Hudler-Downey/Kopecky/McCarty Plus, he can nail the big boys if he has to

In Alberta it was pretty bad, I mean I hate the Ducks, but I wanted Niedermayer to get a cup before Alfredsson got any. I dont have to worry about it anymore, because the Sens are done for at least 3 years. I forgot Calgary, for me, it's how they always act big and tough, but cheap shot all the time. I also hate how they go into every season a cup favorite but miss or are out in the 1st round, dont get me started on the fans either.

According to a couple bloggers and analysts, Montador has developed into a decent 2-way #3 or 4 guy since coming to Florida. Hard to believe since he could barely skate in Calgary and all he could really do was throw cheap hits and fights. There defence would be comparable to ours now, but I believe adding depth to the blueline just means Matty will be dealt for someone caparable but smaller contract. If Matty goes, I dont fear the Ducks as much.

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=16204 I'd take a Neil/Vermette package, hopefully the Wings at least inquire, because I'd hate to see Neil go to Chicago, the West doesnt need any more tough 2-way players.

Wings who've won all 4 Cups(97, 98, 02, 08)
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to WingsFan2008's topic in General
lol This would be like if I started a thread "Who only won one cup with us?" - Brent Gilchrist, Dmitri Mironov, etc. /fail -
Chicago - There fans, there crappy management for years, and the mediocre players they ice every night that only come to play against the Red Wings. St Louis - Everything. I cant stand the Blues at all. Ottawa - Probably just me, I dont understand how all of Canada hoped on their bandwagon with a ****** like Alfredsson as there captain. Anaheim - I just hate Anaheim in general. For some reason, I dont know what it is, I cannot stand Samuel Pahlsson, or Chris Pronger, but that ones self explanatory.

Why Eriksson? If he wasnt dealt for Chelios, he would've been dealt at some point. He was on of, if not the most useless defenceman I've ever seen. He was avergae offensively, he was average defensively, and was just dumb on the ice. He was like a non-physical Lilja, last year with Calgary, he was just attrocious, he used to get booed off the ice some nights. BTW, are we talking this year? If were going by hypotheticals, Schnieder is probably still here, or Rafalski is also here.

Does the Instigator Rule Really Prevent Fighting?
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Hank's topic in General
They didnt do what Downey did, and that's why people didnt like them as much. That isnt to say people didnt, I know many people were disappointed when Ellis got claimed, and many people who think Meech should have a spot in the top 6. Hartigan, eh, he grows a nice goatee, that is for sure. -
Dino and Coffey. Coffey, I just loved the guy. Good canadian boy
-
Per sportsnet Belle is a good young defenceman, not a big deal, but a good one for Montreal.
-
Big physical defenceman. Never panned out like the Canucks or the Flames wanted, but he's still good for 100 PIMs and solid defensive play in the minors.
-
I'm glad he's still getting on the ice and invovled with the Wings. I'll never forget getting to meet him this year, such a down to earth nice guy. Perfect guy to have in the organization.
-
I was thinking more of a 3.5 million 1 year deal, 20 goals and good leadership for Savard, Kessel, Lucic and Bergeron. Have Boston bought out Murray yet Opie?
-
Boston or Montreal seem like perfect places for Shanny to go.
-
I honestly believe Shanny would retire before going to Europe.
-
Great post Hank! Agreed 100%, that is honestly what I would've written, had I. The Kopecky or Bootland point was a good one too. The Joe lives for those kind of players.

Burke defies Bettman, accuses Lowe of tampering
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to edicius's topic in General
I like Burke, but all of this baby bulls*** is just making him look like a joke. I honestly hope they find something about the Niedermayer signing, like a verbal agreement between the 2 before Scott was a FA or something along those lines. Just because of how much respect I've lost for both of them. -
Good for Jay. He did a fine job in Tampa Bay and built a couple of contenders in his term. Lawton, Koules and Barrie have been running the show since coming in. It doesnt surprise me they havent been thinking about defence, Barrie and Lawton are former NHLers, forwards that is. Tampa Bay will be much better this year, but they need another defenceman. With Gator gone, there gonna need to make trade

The Ducks may not even make the playoffs next year, let alone be a contender for the Cup. Pronger is still a top 10 defenceman in this league, but he's getting older too. Niedermayer needs to prove he's still got it, because he did not play well for the Ducks last year. Beauchemin is a product of how well Niedermayer plays. Schnieder will be traded, making there 4-6 very weak. O'Donnell is old and slow, barely better then Chelios at this point. Kent Huskins is alright, but not a number 4 or a number 5. I cant even name their number 6. Brian Salcido or Mark Mitera most likely. Up front, they have Getzlaf and Perry as there standout forwards. Perry is good for 30+ goals and Getzlaf will probably have 80 points next year as well, but who else? Chris Kunitz was a product of Selanne and McDonald, he's more of a 2nd liner without them. Ryan Carter is unproven, I dont believe the hype myself, but we'll see. Brendan Morrison is a good 2-way center, but still a 2nd liner. There best defensive player outside of Getzlaf and Pahlson, Marchant, is going to be traded. That hurts the PK, and overall speed of the team. (The Ducks, as a whole, are very slow. Niedermayer is the standout) Yes, the Ducks do have a very good checking line, but it didnt do much last year. Moen followed up a very good 06-07 season, with a less then stellar 07-08 season. Pahlson was hurt most of the year, so I'll give him a pass. Niedermayer didnt do a whole lot last year, alot like Moen. Bobby Ryan is the wild card, lets see how he does on the big line. Brad May is one of my favorite players, but nothing more then a defensive player on bottom lines, good for 10-15 points a year and 5-10 fights. Sutherby had alot of potential, still does, but did jack last year. Then you have Parros... enforcer, thats it. Then look at the goaltending, Giguere is solid. But has horrible rebound control, and was injured at points last year too. Lets see how he does with a human defence next year. Jonas Hiller is an average back up, I'd take Bryz over him 100 times out of 100, once again, nice one Burkie! As far as San Jose and Dallas being better, then definately are. San Jose's defence is better then Anaheim, it isnt as top heavy, but San Jose's quality 4-6 defenceman make it better. With the emergance of Joe Pavelski as a good 2nd line center helps San Jose as well, Thornton makes Cheechoo and Michalek top line players, and Marleau is a fine 2nd line winger for the Sharks. McLennans system will be fine in San Jose. Dallas, they are tougher and grittier then Anaheim. Watch next year, they will be. There defence, with a healthy Zubov and Boucher, is as good as Anaheims, plus you have to factor in Niskanen, Grossman and Fistrics development. There forwards are very good, and tough as well. I still see them as our only competetion for 1st overall in the West. Phoenix and LA are wild cards as well. But with ALL of that said, none of them will beat the Wings . (Plus, that's probably my longest post on this site.)

I read this on Yahoo today, didnt know if it was true. Wow if it is, he was gonna get a ton of ice time in Nashville next year.
-
Naslund at 4million is a better deal.
-
Dont trade Bieksa.
-
It'll be Stamkos. He's right handed like Stevie, he's a good leader, he can play defence, and he's got the boyish good looks Stevie had as a young lad
