Great to hear. Now my friend can use his old CuJo jersey, was his favorite player so that's always good. And it's cheap so it's also smart for Toronto.

St. James: Sundin, Bertuzzi on radar, Rolston not
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to 40#1Fan's topic in General
Rather have Tucker then Bert, but if it's cheap it couldnt hurt. -
Theodore signs 2 year deal with Washington per TSN. Kurt Sauer signs 4 year deal with Phoenix per TSN.

Lilja re-signs w/2-year, est. $2.4M deal

Anything over 2 mil will get ugly fast, and I could see tons of GM's offering at least that much. -
Lilja re-signs w/2-year, est. $2.4M deal

True, but Lilja is as slow, or slower then Chelios, he's just got younger legs. -

Disagree there. I'll take Chelios awareness and smarts over Liljas size anyday. -

I cant believe, even if by a little, he got a raise. Why 2 years? Quincey, Meech and Ericsson are all capable of handling Lilja's job now, let alone next season. Chelios and Lilja back, well, the Red Wings never really did care all that much about youth. -

Damn, this means no number 4 defenceman until the trade deadline. Wont say anything else, as I know Lilja has supporters on here, but I really dont see the need for him. -
If Liles is a 4 million dollar defenceman, I wouldnt be surprised if Stuart wanted 4.5 or 5 million. Lidstrom, Niedermayer and Pronger, those calibre defenseman are all 10-11 million dollar defenceman if you make the comparison between Liles new deal and them. Gonna be nice if the Avs fall flat on their faces next year.

No need. Naslund isnt the player he once was, brings no physical presence and has lost his offensive flair. Sundin, Rolston, Fedorov, Tucker or even Bertuzzi for cheap are better options.

In Newfoundland for two days now.

That isnt so bad, but I dont see the need for Vishnovsky in Edmonton. Souray healthy is good enough on the PP.

Florida knows how to reward 0.4 ppg forwards

He's pretty good defensively too, but this is overpayment. Hopefully it works out for them. -
Sweet. Hopefully we give the Leafs a pounding to start the year. Hopefully, Downey and McCarty play as well.
-
Dont get me wrong, I know the Habs are good. But I just dont think they are a Stanley Cup caliber team.

Any thoughts on who will be the next assistant coach?

Barry Smith? -
That line could have the potential to be a great line. Too bad it'd never ever happen.

I love Mats Sundin, one of my favorite players. But I believe he should just stay in Toronto, he wants to retire a Leaf, and can still play the game. He doesnt want to play for a Stanley Cup contender, thats obvious. Detroit, San Jose or Anaheim would be the places to go. If he believes Montreal honestly has a chance with a rookie goalie, a poor defence, and a very young offence, I dont know what to say. Montreal are still a couple years away from contending for the CUp, 2nd or 3rd round sure, but no further. I dont know why Mats is asking for 7-10 million dollars at 37, if he's desperate for a winning team and a Stanley Cup. Is Mats worth it, yes no question. I dont know why he wouldnt take 2-4 million so his team can sign him and another impact forward.

That's a fantastic forward line-up. Commodore is probably looking for 2 to 4 million dollars. Boyle-Kuba O'Brien-Commodore Ranger-Lundin Not too bad, espicially with Ranger, Lundin and O'Brien being so young.
-
In addition to not adding leadership, he doesnt add a phsyical presence, a scoring touch, or defensive play either . Nolan or Peca seem like the best options, but I would love Bertuzzi or Tucker.
-
He's making more money then Datsyuk next season, cool. Not a bad deal at 4.4 a year of a cap hit though.
-
Good deal for LA. Greene and Stoll are quality young players, Vishnovsky is grossly overpaid at 7 million IMO.
-
There offence will be great next season, but the defence still needs another body. The top 4 is fine, but Ranger and O'Brien are still young, same with Lundin. Commodore to me seems like a perfect fit for Tampa.

Oh jeez, that's too rich for me even. I wonder where he will end up, if indeed he does leave Florida.
