Filpula+Ericcson would be Martins opening asking price, imagine it'll factor in some picks as well. I'd do it for sure, but Holland wont.
-
Good deal for Tampa, espicially if both sign. Also good news to see Melrose giving Roy another chance, one of my favorite enforcers. I wonder though, if Tampa are looking at a big name d-man. They have a good top 4 (Boyle, Kuba, O'Brien, Ranger) But they could benefit from another 16+ minute defenceman.
-
Boom, there she is. Not to mention, 9 of Filpula's goals came in a 10 game span, and most of Bertuzzi's points came when he was healthy in the 2nd part of the season. He isnt a bad option for 1 or 2 million on a 1 year deal. We offered him that the first time, maybe he'd be smart enough to know, you take the offer Ken Holland gives you and you will succeed. (Uwe Krupp not withstanding )

Scott Niedermayer Has Decided To Play Again Next Year
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
If the Ducks do move Schnieder with Niedermayer coming back, we still have the best defence in hockey . -
Orpiks value in the old NHL, would be around 1.85 or something like that. Big physical defenceman that cant score (Ala Hatcher) shouldnt be getting 4 million dollars. Orpik is a better skater then Hatcher, but Hatcher for cheap is a better deal then Orpik for big money. I cant wait to see who overpays for this guy.
-
If he's serious about winning, and healthy, for a 1-2 million dollar 1 year deal, it couldnt hurt. I seriously doubt it though.
-
For games against Colorado, hell yes!!
-
-Holland wants to offer both Downey and McCarty 2 way deals, but not till July 1st Gooooood. Great career Dallas, I'll miss you, but it did my heart good to see you hoist that Stanley Cup.
-
Interesting thing on Darcy, he's gonna make 9 million next year. All from the buyout, I wonder if he'd take a smaller amount of money in 08-09, to have a better chance to win a cup since he already has Crosby income for next year. I doubt it would happen, but a guy like Tucker might.
-
Flip wont get 4 million, 2 million is an overpayment anyways. I dont see a ton of moves this summer for the Wings, probably re-signing Lilja (Terrible move anyways.) and Mac and Downey. I really doubt Stuart is coming back, but I hope he does.
-
I hate that we as fans, have come to believe that to play for the Red Wings, you must have skill and only that. Just because Downey cant score you a ton of goals, or rack up a bunch of assists, it doesnt matter. We have players for that. Downey brings you other elements and that's why he always has a job whether it be in thr minors or in the NHL. He's the most upbeat player to play for the Wings since a young D-Mac. I mean, he was at 0 all year, which is great for an enforcer. He didnt have that many giveaways, he had 79 hits in 4-6 minutes a night over 56 games. I dont know if hits mean anything to you Opie, but I think it's very important have consitent hitters on your bottom lines as opposed to gusy like Sammy who are more skill then physical. No knock on Sammy, it's just I dont see him as the typical 3rd or 4th liner. As for Phoenix getting McGrattan, not only are they gonna be a good team next year, there probably goning to be the toughest as well.
-
He wont last 2 months in Vancouver. He's anti-defence and that's what Vigneault hates.
-
Great news! People dont understand the importance of an enforcer, they protect there teamates, and make the locker room more up beat. Downey made all the guys feel safe on the ice, and bringing in McCarty helped too. Does he have alot of skill? Course not, but he's all heart and that's the kind of players you need. I love that Holland finally figures out that you need an enforcer, and we win the cup. Did Downey have a role in the Cup? No, but his play in the regular season helped other players play tougher. Do you honestly think Datsyuk would've been punching Gary Roberts if he wasnt around Dallas Drake, Aaron Downey and Darren McCarty all year. As for which of them comes back, it needs to be both. And have them split the games, 41 each. (What a coincedence, thats exactly how many games you need to get your name on the cup )
-
Woooo. Much better news.
-
Kubina will be traded, but McCabe is the wild card. The Leafs do not want anything to do with him, and he still will not waive his no movement clause. I've heard the Leafs might just stratch him in every game they can until he waives it. The Leafs total rebuild is crazy. I feel so bad for all the good fans they've had over the years (Not the crazy ones, but the good hockey ones.) They've endured so much, and there is only more to come.
-
Now, Drake's replacement? The FA pool this summer aint to shabby anymore.
-
People would love Roberts if he came here. Just like Drake and Chelios. But I see Garr going back to TO.
-
Damn, Cleary brings the cup to Newfoundland a week before I go for vacation. The kids at the Janeway hospital are gonna rememer July 1st for the rest of their lives.
-
Not in good shape, and plays like a smaller version of Lang. The Wings better stay away.
-
Take either. Stillman will probably go back to Carolina or Tampa Bay though, and would cost more.
-
God no. If thought JS Giguere had bad rebound control, you aint see nothing yet.
-
Thomas-Sundin-Hoglund was so much better Mack I really hope he comes to Detroit or stays in Toronto, it'll make me sick to my stomach to see in him Montreal colors.
-
He played in 51 games last season. He was getting back to game speed in some of them as well. Next year, he will be the #2 or #1 defenceman on Nashville in every catagory. You should check out his 05/06 stats, and then his 06/07 stats and see why he is not a 5th defenceman.
-
You dont really think that do you? He's better than Stuart, Lebda, Lilja, Chelios, Meech and Quincey. He'd be the perfect number 3 or 4 defenceman for the Wings. Your undervaluing Weber a TON.
-
Weber would fit in perfectly with Detroit's system and would compliment Kronwall perfectly. But I dont see the Wings offering up enough money to make Nashville not match. He's far too valuable to their team.
