We tried Lilja with Kronwall at the start of last season and it didnt work. I am very disappointed in Brad Stuart, if it was me, I wouldnt think about leaving a cup winning team for some 2nd of the pack team in California. Lilja, we should just let him go already. He's worn out his usefullness, I'd rather have a guy like Commodore or Smith in his spot, so we can have a bit more grit on the back end. Good to hear Holland is bringing back Mac and thinking about bring back Downey, they could use them both.

How did I know you would quote the post. Cool, Sammy's better then Maltby and Downey, that's saying a ton right? Are you saying I do that? I say good things about Sammy when he does good things, and I say bad things when he does bad things. What do you expect? I do that with EVERY player. I was one of the ones who believed Lidstrom was a perfect replacement for Yzerman, I'm not quite sure what this has to do with Samuelson, but I thought you'd know. You watch the games, and if you are really satisfied with Samuelsons shooting choice, then that's fine. But he does shoot it right at the goalie most of the time, or hit shin pads. I'm not ragging on the guy, I'm posting facts, he scores every once in a while, but he doesnt do alot else. Sorry if I dont have the same opinion as Sammy as you do Opie, but I guess that's why it's an opinion.

It's just Pierres opinion. Look at the trend, one European on the whole list. So dont expect any Red Wings to be on it. But LOL @ Greg Zanon being on there, he's useless .

The problem I have with Sammy, is not that he doesnt shoot, it's when he decides to. His shot selection is terrible. Sammy may be the worst 2on1 player in the league. Can he score? Of course, no doubting that. But if you look at his goals in the playoffs, only 1 or 2 were a result of nice shots. The rest were right place at the right time or a wrap around. I will never discredit that Samuelson is a good NHL player, but the reason people dislike him is his shot selection. Why do you think people moan and groan and say "Nice shot Sammy" or "Right at the goalies chest".

Smith could probaly do a great job in a Lilja role. Play the PK, and he's tough as nails anyways. His leadership is second to none, and he's a playoff monster. For 2 million or less, he'd be a nice pickup.

Burke is Vancouver built playoff teams despite having Dan Cloutier as his starter. He drafted the Sedins, he helped make Brendan Morrison, Markus Naslund and Todd Bertuzzi. If the past Canucks teams would've had Luongo in net, they would've been contenders. Listen, sometimes I dont like Burke as a person because he can get whiney, and annoying too. But he is one of the best hockey men around, and has built a great team in Anaheim. I wish he'd give up with Niedermayer and Selanne already, and he probably shouldnt have traded McDonald, but everyone makes mistakes. Yes that includes Holland (Shawn Mattias ring a bell?)

Who is gonna be the best steal in the offseason?
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Real1's topic in General
Naslund. I dont believe he will be, but someone might give him a decent contract and Markus might put up good numbers again. Commodore on defence as well, he played great for Carolina the past 2 or 3 years, I could see him going somewhere and having a good year. -
Gainey is headed to Sweden to talk to Mats sometime this week. He'd obviously rather have Tangauy and Sundin, instead of Hossa. I'd rather have Mats too, but in Montreals case, Hossa would make more sense imo.
-
Smith or Sundin.

Babcock could make Hudler and the enforcers defensively responsible, I'd love to see what he could do with Ryder. Mike is one of my favorite players, and I've wanted him for the past 3 years, and it hasnt happened. I really dont think it's gonna change now.
-
Wrong. Z and Franzen will get paid, but it wont have any effect on our cap this year. Drake's replacement will be an Owen Nolan/Mike Peca kinda guy, which will cost more then 1 million. Stuart will re-sign, or we'll find a replacement via FA or in the system. We have tons of money, and having an extra scoring forward can never hurt, and Kenny Holland knows that.
-
Go to Montreal. It'll be more fun seeing them out in the 1st round, with Tangauy and Hossa on their team.
-
Owen Nolan or Mike Peca. But I said that last year and it didnt happen. Just have to wait and see.

http://sportsnet.ca/hockey/2008/06/20/blues_predators_mason/ Weird move by Nashville considering Ellis might be leaving.
-
Thats true, after the first 5 picks, the trades pretty much stopped. Invovling players that is.
-
Not on TV though
-
I know that. I'm still excited to see.
-
If not for injuries and inexperience, they take the 8th seed last year. If Phoenix land one of Brad Stuart, Wade Redden or Brian Campbell, they'll be good next year.
-
I'm really excited to see who the Wings take.
-
Oiler fan drafted by the Oilers, I dont care if he hugged the whole arena. That's one hell of a feeling.
-
I could see Ennis. A bit small, but he's got the skills. Plus, his teamate from a couple years ago played pretty well for us in the playoffs this year too.
-
Darren Haydar and Jason Krog are very happy men right now.
-
That'll disappoint some, but not me. I wonder who the Wings are looking at now.
-
Hudler and Kopecky

This year, he was bad. But if your saying he is bad as a whole, your crazy. Burkie is a top 5 GM in the NHL. Just not this year.
