the "this might/will be my last chance for a cup" factor
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to j.hoop's topic in General
Crosby will be seeing Drake in his nightmares for the rest of his life after this series. Draper and Maltby always show up to play in the finals, Lidstrom speaks for himself. I think our guys are gonna raise their games alot in the finals. -
Roberts steams after being told he won't play Game 1
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
That's true, but you just dont bench Roberts. -
Listen, I love the Pistons, but if someone would rather go to a ECF game for basketball or a SCF for hockey, I wouldnt know what to tell them. As far as T.V. goes, it's called "recall" and it's on your remote.

Roberts steams after being told he won't play Game 1

This is why I dont believe Terrian is a good coach. The Penguins have no expeirence outside of Gonchar (Big freaking whoop, he was swept in the 98 finals.) Roberts has more heart then there whole locker room, leadership galore, and is a much better impact player then Adam Hall. But I dont really care, this just gives us a much better chance of winning, who's gonna calm down the bench when there down by 4 goals 10 minutes into the 1st. -
Chris Chelios interview: I'm OK not getting playing time
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
More rest for Chelios is never a bad thing. BTW about Franzen, on TSN just now McGuire said one of the reasons he wont play is because of the Fischer incident, and how closely Detroit doctors monitor things. -
Dispelling some myths: the Pittsburgh Penguins
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to betterREDthandead's topic in General
How many times does it need to be said? We finished sub .500 against the Central, and still won the West. We dominated everyone in the West and that's why we are here. Islanders? Hasek was in net, good one. You guys beat Philly, Colorado didnt limp into the playoffs, they got all their injuries in the 2nd round. Philly had all of there top 4 playing at 20% or worse, and still won a game. Haha, Dallas might just be 10x better then the Rangers, in all parts of the game. It is Penguins fans in for a surprise, Gill, Scuderi and Orpik wont handle ZDH. I cant wait for tommorow night. -
Malone wants players to "get their elbows and sticks up"
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to tazzer82's topic in General
Who cares. When Kronwall is pasting down all there players, I'll be smiling.' BTW, I love his hits. Dirty or not, just as I loved everyone of Stevens hits. -
They'll both be lying on the ice when they take the picture with the Cup. Franzen will be playing anyway.

Great news! Look forward to seeing that Newfoundland beard in action finally!

This is great news, Danny doesnt have to wear the chin guard and The Mule is back. Hello secondary scoring!

Dispelling some myths: the Pittsburgh Penguins
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to betterREDthandead's topic in General
I was gonna mention the top line, but I'm glad you brought it up. Crosby and Hossa would probably own the Draper line because of their defensive awareness, but I'm not sure Malkin and Sykora will score as much as the Crosby line would, if matched up against Draper. -

That's exactly what I'm saying. Draper and Drake will outscore Malkin and Sykora, and Samuelson will kick Malones ass in a couple fights over the series. Draper will win the Conne Smythe for scoring 14 points in 5 games in the finals and Malkin will be the leagues worst +/- at -9. Now back to reality, I know that the Malkin line is better, but like I said, how good are they on the defensive side? Because without the puck, that's what they'll be playing. -

Seen any Wings games before? They get the puck, and keep it on there stick until they make a line change, it's how they play. -

How's Malkin gonna generate offence when he never has the puck? He cant win faceoffs. People can discredit it all they want, but it's an important stat. The line itself, Malkin is easy to get off his game, play physical and he gets off his game. Sykora is a very streaky scorer, and Malone is alot like Holmstrom, he plays better when his line mates are playing well. -

Dallas were. You cant say the Pens have played a great team yet, Ottawa were banged up and playing terrible. The Rangers couldnt score save for Jammy. The Flyers were playing without there top 2 defenceman, and there next 2 defenceman were at 30-40%. This will be their challenge, as it will be ours. -
Sammy for Conne Smythe.
-
Yeah he has. I'm kinda mad, McCreary is like the Yzerman of officials, you always like him no matter what calls he makes. O'Hallaran is a joke, I dont even know who Marc Joanette and Brad Watson are. I remember back when it was always McCreary and Van Masonhovan.
-
Whoa, No Billy. Wow. O'Halloran over McCreary? WTF!

When's the last time an Eastern Conference team easily won the Cup? 1995. When the New Jersey Devils walked all over the youthful Red Wings. 1996: Avs crush Panthers 1997: Wings sweep Flyers 1998: Wings sweep Caps 1999: Dallas beats NJ 2000: New Jersey beat Dallas in 6 2001: Avs beat New Jerset 2002: Wings beat Canes in 5 2003: New Jersey beats Anaheim in 7. 2004: Tampa Beats Calgary in 7 2006: Carolina beats Edmonton in 7 2007: Anaheim pound Ottawa in 5 That is why the East is a weaker conference, the last 13 years They've only won the cup in 6 games or less twice. -
Not one to join other boards, just by reading that one "Dont Fear The Wings they havent done anything" thread is enough for me to know about Pens fans.

The Pistons have a ways to go before they even make the finals. The Celtics cant lose at home, and have home court advantage.
