For there position on the roster, I'd rather have Downey and let Grigs develop in GR. He wont get any better sitting in the press box eating Chee-tos watching the Wings. Playing top line minutes with Mcgrath in GR will help him alot. I dont understand the Grigs love, potential this, and potential that. At the moment, we dont need Grigs to try his hat at being a grinder or sitting in the press box. I'd like to see Sopel get signed, but theres no point keeping Soap as an 8th defenceman, and have Meech ahead of him? Sopel is much better then Meech, dont get me wrong, I like Meech, but I liked Macdonald and Booter too, and look where that got them. I'd like to keep all our roster players, Sopel and Downey, waive Meech and have him clear, send down Grigs and win the Calder cup & Stanley cup in the same year.

But you arent embarrased to call Samuleson or Lilja Wings? At least Downey has in impact sometimes, those 2 never do. We need more guys like Downey, McCarty and Lapointe used to do s*** like that all the time and other players get a kick out of it, Anaheim and Ottawa loved having George Parros and Brian Mcgrattan make them laugh and have fun at practise, that'd help the Wings, not hurt them.

I dont hate Downie either stick, I just dont like how he NEVER plays by the rules. He's got a quite a record of cheap hits and dirty hits.

I said the Kronwall hit was dirty .... I dont understand how you can defend Steve Downie though. I sure as hell wouldnt defend Kronwall and he's on the wings, Downie is one of the dirtiest players under 21. I've watched the clip, a slow mo clip from TSN, which Darren Dreger labeled everything Downie did, an elbow, a head shot and it was late, 1 or 2 seconds is still late.

The Markov hit was clean, he didnt leave the ice. The Kronwall hit on Lupul, yes he left his feet, but did I cheer yes, but for a different reason, I hadent seen a red wing throw a decent bone crusher in years, we were probably the softest team in the league at the time and I hate the Oilers, but that didnt make the hit ok, it was still dirty. The Downie hit was 5 for 5 on the dirty scale. Left his feet, late hit, elbow, aiming for the head, and attempt to injure. The Ducks would like Downie alot, plays the game just like Pronger .

It's so easy to replace the words too. It could be "no shot, no shat, no shet, no shut" I'd get confused too
