I love your GDT's Aflac. Go Wings!

I cant believe the Yanks. There gonna win the A.L. East, not even the wild card. Cant say I dont like it, as much as I hate the Yanks, I hate the Red Sox so much more. This season definately sucked for me, both my favorite teams (Jays and Tigers) are gonna miss this year

I was just reading the SportingNews Hockey season analysis magazine, I really enjoyed it. They listed off every teams enforcer. I'll make the list Atlanta: Eric Boulton Anaheim: George Parros Boston: Shawn Thornton Buffalo: Andrew Peters Carolina: Mike Commodore/Scott Walker Calgary: Wayne Primeau/Robyn Regher Chicago: Martin Lapointe/David Koci Colorado: Scott Parker/Ian Lapeirrie Columbus: Jody Shelley Dallas: Steve Ott/Todd Fedoruk/Brad Winchester/Krys Barch Detroit: Tomas Holmstrom Florida: Steve Montador Edmonton: Ethan Moreau/Zach Stortini LA: Raitis Ivanans Montreal: Mike Komasarek Minnesota: Derek Boogard NJ: Cam Janssen NYI: Brendan Witt NYR: Colton Orr Nashville: Jordin Tootoo Ottawa: Brian Mcgratton/Chris Neil Philly: Ben Eager/Jesse Boulerice Pittsburgh: Georges Laraque Phoenix: Josh Gratton San Jose: Ryane Clowe St Louis: DJ King/Jamal Mayers Tampa: Andre Roy Toronto: Wade Belak/Darcy Tucker Vancouver: Jeff Cowan/Brad Isbister Washington: Donald Brashear So there goes the excuse "Enforcers arent needed" EVERYONE HAS ONE. And too be clear, I love Homer, but he's no enforcer. This is why a guy like Downey is usefull, it makes guys like Homer try to forget about the rough stuff and focus on scoring goals.

Notice how I didnt say it would prevent it, it would cut it down. There gonna get cheapshotted anyway because there skilled players, but most skilled players have guys to protect them. Stop with your comparisons, I said if an enforcer isnt important, why did the pens go out and get one? Because they want to keep Sidney and Malkin safer, and thats what enforcers are for. Anyways, Im done arguing, you dont want an enforcer, I do. Niether of us will change our perspective, so theres no point in going on arguing about it.

Ottawa interested in CuJo and O'neill?

I like O'Neill but if he's gonna be rejecting there offers, then dont play next year. He must be about the money, thats too bad. I liked Allison too, but he pulled the same crap. -
http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/2007/09...-scrimmage.html Im really starting to like Downey and Sopel, there both playing really well. Im liking Adam Keefe also, I think we've found our next Booter!
-
Its not too bad, I didnt know what else to say . There my favorite prospects/guys im most looking forward to seeing.
-
Meh, he looked slow out there and it was a secondary assist.
-
Thats too bad about Pyett and Emmerton, they'll do fine this season in the CHL.

You talk about ignorance, but then you say the most ignorant thing possible. Calling a person who was talented enough to be drafted into the NHL and play over 400 games. You think Downeys a pylon, good for you, Downey is a hard working gritty guy, that picks up for his teamates and is a true team guy. Your stuff about Boogard is so off base, its the preseason, what does Downey what to do? Get his face smashed in and not even have a chance to make the wings? There isnt a player in the league not named Chara, Cairns, Neil, Torres, or McGrattan that wouldve fought Boogard in that situation.
-
You guys are hilarious. Im pro enforcer, but having Downey fight Boogard in the friggin pre-season because he hit Jonathan Ericcson a little too hard? My god. Ericcson is 6'5, he should be able to take it. Downey doesnt have to fight guys like Boogard in the pre-season, thats just stupid. Ask Todd Fedoruk how that worked out for him . Boogard will deliver cheap shots, at his disgrecession because he's Boogard, unless Eric Cairns, Zdeno Chara, Hal Gill or Brian McGrattan are on the ice, he'll do whatever he wants.
-
Both. I cant pick just one.

Im not gonna lie, I hate threads like this. People go on and on about how gritty and tough we are, were not. With a guy like Downey helps alot, espicially playing with Drake , Kopecky or Maltby. Saying having an enforcer isnt nessacary, is totally off base. Tampa had one, Anaheim had one, we had one in all 3 of our cups. So dont try giving me that. I like Aaron Downey because he plays hard, he's gritty, he's a team guy, and will try his hardest to make sure no one puts there hands on Z and Dats, does that mean no one will? No it doesnt, but it does mean they'll have a bit of protection from all the cheap shots they get. Aaron Downey will help this team out, in the grit and toughness department. If you like seeing Zetterberg and Datsyuk get run, cheapshotted, cross checked and bullied, then thats fine, dont get Aaron Downey, but if you want it to be cut down, then thats what Aaron Downey is for. Oh, and if enforcers arent important, then why did Pittsburgh go out and get Big Georges? To PROTECT Sidney.
-
The best part about this? That was minnisotas actual roster minus Rolston and Hill. And we beat them 6-1, with Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Rafalski and Hasek not playing. Along with alot of regulars.
-
Rolston can play RW and is used to it. I disagree Lou, if it comes to a guy like Rolston, Kenny will offer a 1st+ for him
-
Downey played great tonight!
-
Positives: Downey , Maltby and Drake all played great. So did Howard and Osgood. Chelios is a beast, and Sopel has a cannon. Negatives: We gave up a goal Good game all around
-
Ericsson is lazy and he sucks
-
Who was it that said goal scoring was our problem?
-
SOPEL BABY!
-
Hes scored and been playing amazing. Maltbys playing like the old one too, he layed out Kalus earlier.
-
Like who? Please dont say Ericcson, if were only basing off tonight, Ericssons been terrible. I'd much rather have Sopel, he's got the expierence and hes a right handed shot with good offensive skills. The kids got nothing on Soap IMO.
-
Maltby is back folks. That was quite the hit he laid out. He definately doesnt have to worry about Minny with Dallas Drake and Aaron Downey out with him. Chelios and Osgood are putting on a show tonight, I also LOVE Aaron Downey, he's gonna make the team. Oh and Sopel has been playing great tonight too.

Chelios is dominating out there.
